Chapter 46 – Fondness (3)

Soon it was the 1st of September, the first day of grade school.

Xi Yun got up early in the morning, put on the clothes that he had just washed the day before, packed all his books into his backpack and stealthily opened the door. He saw Xi Zhiqiang crashed crookedly on the couch in the living room, a sea of redness around his neck that looked like lipstick marks from so woman. The floor was a ss, and he was snoring loudly.

He had co ho after midnight the night before, drunk, threw a fit about how won were so difficult to please, always asking for this and that, and finally fell asleep in the living room.

Xi Yun hid in his room with his door locked and dodged a bullet.

He went back inside and locked his room again. From his closet, he removed a tal rod that was hollowed inside. He tore a few pieces of paper, rolled them up into a rod shape, and shoved into the hollow rod for a roll of paper money totaling $980.

He collected all the money and put them inside his pocket, replaced the tal rod where it belonged, lugged his backpack, and left the house.

This was back when grade school still required tuitions to be paid, and not a small amount at that. Xi Zhijiang wasn’t going to pay for them. If it wasn’t the law stating that all children must go to school, he would have Xi Yun working for money at so stores already.

Luckily, Xi Yun had made quite a bit of money over the sumr from doing sumr howork for his classmates, so he was at least able to pay for tuition and not be kicked out of school.

Going downstairs and walking passed the dessert shop, the shop was not opened yet, but the shiny glass door reflected his image.

Xi Yun looked for a while and, leaning forward, he pressed his lips on the glass and planted a kiss on it before heading happily toward school.

If all went well, he’d co into possession of a large amount of money in just a few days!

Then he’d want to take jie jie to the amusent park, buy her pretty clothes, good food, and fun toys. And for Aunty He, he knew that all won liked lipsticks. He would buy Aunty He the prettiest lipstick....

Waiting in front of the grade school for Xi Yun was Wei Jianjun. As soon as he saw Xi Yun, he walked up and asked, “Little kid, are you sure about this? This is no joking matter. I am counting on you about all the products that I have sitting at my factory....”

Wei Jianjun was a veteran who managed a not-too-big clothing factory. His employees were also veterans. The factory didn’t make a lot of money, but enough to support them.

Not too long ago, he accepted an order of school uniform from a private school. Right when he completed the order, things went south with the school, and it was taken over by the Departnt of Education.

That was very bad news for Wei Jianjun. He had only collected down paynt on the order and now he had over 1,000 uniforms sitting in storage. If he couldn’t sell them, he would make no profit this entire year.

He had no choice but to turn to other schools and see if he could find an alternate buyer. It wasn’t easy to set up a eting with the principle of the #3 Elentary School of Luo Cheng. He hadn’t even finished his pitch before the principle ended their conversation. He turned around and saw Xi Yun standing right there, who heard part or all of the conversation.

To his surprise, Xi Yun told him that he had an idea.

Normally he’d never believed that a barely 10-year-old kid claiming that he could help him sell all his uniforms. But what other options did he have at this point?

He wouldn’t even dream about making a profit; he would be happy just to recuperate his principle.

He waited painstakingly till the first day of school and wasn’t able to sleep all night long just to et with Xi Yun one more ti and calm his nerves.

Xi Yun, “Uncle, don’t worry. Our school will buy your uniforms.”

After comforting Wei Jianjun, Xi Yun went inside his school with his backpack.
