Because of Lucy Campbell and Emily Berns’s status, Helen Wilson also started chatting normally with the three of them, and then brought up the case that had been bothering her.
Blackjack is the biggest drug dealer in YODC City. After taking him down, the city’s drug supply was supposedly running low. But who knew that after Blackjack’s downfall, it remained quiet for only a few days, before suddenly becoming abundant again? Although the police have caught so people, they’re basically just small fry. Nothing useful could be obtained from them.
This suggests that the new drug dealer in YODC City must be part of a tightly organized and powerful group. Otherwise, after so many days of investigation, nothing would have been found.
"Have you started looking into the criminal underworld?" Jas Brown asked.
Helen Wilson frowned, saying, "We’ve already investigated them, but haven’t received any information. From what we’ve seen, they don’t seem to be involved. This force should have sneaked in from elsewhere."
With Helen’s words, Jas didn’t need to ask Brother Bob.
Lucy Campbell interjected, saying, "Drug dealing is such a grave offense; it must be eradicated. It harms people too severely; it’s undermining the very foundation of our nation."
Helen Wilson said seriously, "Yes, we in the police are rigorously monitoring the situation, but there’s no breakthrough. It’s truly frustrating."
Squinting his eyes, Jas Brown recalled a specific organization. This organization has a powerful network worldwide. They are a peculiar religious group, and all their mbers are indoctrinated with religious beliefs, making them extrely loyal to the organization. Even if caught, it’s hard to get information out of them; they often commit suicide when apprehended.
This organization primarily funds itself through drug trafficking. The sale of drugs provides them with trendous economic benefits, allowing them to thrive.
Many countries around the world are aware of this organization’s existence and aim to eradicate it, but its activities are too secretive. Jas Brown has participated in operations against them, but ultimately ca up short, knowing the organization comprises many experts. If they were to seek revenge, it would be a drawn-out battle. Because of this, so small countries turn a blind eye to the organization’s actions. Otherwise, they can’t afford the havoc it might wreak.
If this organization has set its sights on YODC City, Helen Wilson is definitely under a lot of pressure, and if they find any evidence against them, she could be in danger.
But it’s still uncertain whether it is this particular organization, as there are many other major drug traffickers globally. If it’s from another group, Jas Brown wouldn’t be too concerned about Helen Wilson’s safety.
"Jas Brown, do you have any thoughts on this?" Helen asked eagerly.
Jas Brown shrugged his shoulders, saying, "This kind of matter seems a little challenging for . Do you think I’m Superman, knowing everything? You have so many resources in the police; you’ll figure it out eventually. It’s not like the previous cases where you almost had it solved and I just needed to lend a hand."
Helen glared at Jas Brown. She had imnse faith in him, believing that as long as Jas, the Mysterious Figure, was involved, nothing was impossible. But not in front of Lucy and Emily Berns; she didn’t feel it appropriate to say this. Even when alone with Jas, she preferred to treat him as an ordinary person, only considering him the powerful Mysterious Figure when there’s genuine trouble. Otherwise, she’d never have the confidence to stand up to him.
Despite the case troubling Helen, her purpose in seeking out Jas was not just to inform him of the situation. She was hoping to get his help as an expert, and another motive was a desire to spend so warm monts with him, to relieve the stress from work. But that’s unlikely to happen right now.
"Officer Monaghan, it seems like you have a close connection with Jas. Be careful this guy has any intentions towards you. He’s such a flirt, unable to resist the sight of a beautiful woman."
Emily Berns half-jokingly teased Helen Wilson.
Helen indeed felt a bit guilty, and she’s not soone with very deep tactics, so she appeared flustered, laughed awkwardly, and said, "I know, I just treat him as a buddy."
When Helen first beca a police officer, although she was bold and daring, she was not very masculine or extrely outgoing. But as she climbed higher in position, she always wanted to prove she wasn’t solely relying on Jas to solve cases. Over ti, she beca sowhat masculine, cutting her hair short and appearing quite shrewd and capable.
However, her words couldn’t fool Lucy Campbell, nor could they deceive Emily Berns. The panic in her eyes had long betrayed the nature of her relationship with Jas Brown.
Emily Berns secretly pinched Jas Brown’s lower back and said with a big smile to Helen Wilson, "I’m not saying anything else, just that this guy is really no good. Just a reminder not to fall for his tricks. If I hadn’t fallen for his tricks back then, I wouldn’t have had a kid with him so early."
Helen Wilson gave an awkward laugh and said, "Well, that’s Jas Brown’s luck. Who knows how many n in the world dream of having a child with you, yet it’s this bastard who got lucky."
Insulting Jas Brown as a bastard right in front of Emily Berns made Helen Wilson feel a sense of indescribable relief, as if her earlier guilt had suddenly vanished. She continued, "I always advise this guy to behave, but he just won’t listen. Every ti I see him with another woman, I feel like dragging him over for a beating, to teach him a lesson for those won he deceived."
Emily Berns nodded repeatedly and said, "Yes, yes, I feel the sa way. But now he’s a married man, and his wife doesn’t control him, so there’s nothing I can do. But you’re his good buddy, so you can keep him in check. If anything like this happens again, I strongly support you beating him up."
With Emily Berns’ provocation, Helen Wilson imdiately glared viciously at Jas Brown, gritting her teeth as she said, "Hear that? You’re letting all the won around you down. If you don’t restrain yourself, sooner or later everyone will take you down."
Jas Brown expected a heated clash between Helen Wilson and Emily Berns, but he didn’t anticipate their chemical reaction would turn into a critique of him. Speaking up now would be unwise, so he kept quiet, lit a cigarette, and pretended to hear nothing.
Lucy Campbell chuckled and said, "I say, Jas, everyone’s criticizing you. Don’t pretend you can’t hear them."
Jas Brown imdiately felt helpless, thinking that Lucy Campbell wasn’t helping him out, but was adding fuel to the fire, pushing him deeper into trouble.
"That’s right, you think pretending to be dead will work? Do you have any objections to what we’re saying?" Emily Berns glared at Jas Brown fiercely.
Jas Brown quickly replied, "I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare. You two, a superstar and a public security bureau chief, how could a small fry like have any objections?"
Emily Berns snorted and said, "Oh, you know you’re just a small fry, huh? Look at you, your wife is the CEO of a big company, lody Yoody is a Deputy County Chief, you have little flings like Emma Campbell and Charlotte at ho, and with Helen Wilson as a deputy director at the Public Security Bureau, what more do you want? You’re still flirting around outside. Do you feel guilty towards these people? Do you have any conscience left?"
Helen Wilson also said resentfully at this mont, "You bastard, I’ve never seen soone as careless as you. I just want to castrate you right now."
Jas Brown was speechless and rolled his eyes at Helen Wilson, who still couldn’t understand and shouted at Jas Brown, "What’s the matter, not convinced? Don’t think won are easy to bully. If we won unite to discipline you, it’d be a piece of cake... Emily Berns... oh... I..."
Helen Wilson was enjoying her rant when she suddenly noticed Emily Berns was looking at her with an inscrutable smile. Her heart tightened, realizing she had gone too far with her words. Wasn’t she sounding just like Emily Berns, a woman scorned, condemning Jas Brown? That would openly admit the nature of her relationship with him.
With pursed lips, Helen Wilson suddenly stood up and said loudly, "Yes, I’m involved with this guy ambiguously. I brought him here today because I wanted to be with him physically. I missed him. So what?"
Emily Berns and Lucy Campbell were stunned, totally not expecting Helen Wilson to admit it so forthrightly, and so bluntly.
Jas Brown coughed and said, "Joanne, don’t get excited. Emily Berns and Lucy didn’t co to bother you."
Emily Berns sighed while looking at Helen Wilson and said, "Helen Wilson, I find that we have so similarities. We’re both so bold, and we both beca playthings for this guy, yet we can’t beco his wives. We have no reason to be hostile."
Upon hearing this, Helen Wilson’s aura instantly deflated, and she twitched her lips, saying, "Well, at least you had his child. He can’t deny it even if he wants to."
Emily Berns sighed wistfully and said, "What good is having his child? At least you call him, and he cos. You want to get close to him, and he rushes over. But ... now he keeps his distance from as if I’m so monstrous flood."
Helen Wilson was dumbfounded for a mont and then suddenly said, "Emily Berns, from now on you’ll be my best sister. Let’s join forces, and I don’t believe we can’t handle this bastard."
Emily Berns was instantly stunned, while Jas Brown rubbed his forehead, and Lucy Campbell covered her mouth, stifling her laughter.
