A little after three, John Brown said he was going out to buy groceries, and Emily Berns imdiately stood up and said she’d go with him, as did Emma Campbell.

This surprised Emily Berns, and she said, "Emma, aren’t you going back?"

Emma Campbell’s face turned red, and she said in a low voice, "I’m staying here tonight."

"What? You’re... staying here?" Emily Berns’ eyes widened instantly. She had been chatting with Emma Campbell for quite a while and learned how Emma Campbell and John Brown t, and that they had maintained their relationship. But she didn’t know Emma Campbell had already gotten Gina Lopez’s approval. So when she heard Emma Campbell say she was staying here, she was naturally shocked to the point that her jaw almost dropped.

John Brown saw Emma Campbell was embarrassed and quickly chid in, "Emma is very close with Gina, she occasionally stays over."

Emily Berns just couldn’t wrap her mind around it; she shook her head vigorously, looked around the house, and looked at Emma Campbell again, clicking her tongue a few tis. With a dry throat, she said, "Are you saying... when Emma stays here, Gina is also ho?"

John Brown laughed and said, "Yeah."

"John Brown, you... you bastard..." Emily Berns suddenly cursed John Brown, letting out a long-held sigh.

"Why are you cursing ?" John Brown pretended to be confused.

Emily Berns said through gritted teeth, "I really didn’t expect it. You actually have such skills. Not only do you fool around outside, but you can also openly bring them ho and even get your wife to agree. Should I admire you or despise you?"

John Brown gave an awkward laugh and said, "Whatever you want, let’s go, let’s go buy groceries quickly, and we can pick up our daughter on the way back."

The three went out the door. Emily Berns was still fuming inside. She knew about lody Yoody and Sarah Utah and then there was Sarah Grandy as well. Oh, Sarah Grandy did ntion this before, but she always thought Sarah Grandy was just a little girl whose words were far-fetched, so she never believed it and forgot about it after hearing.

It was only now she realized everything Sarah Grandy had said was true. John Brown wasn’t just fooling around outside; he could even bring soone back and live in peace with Gina Lopez, his wife. This guy is really sothing to manage such a thing. You have to know, Gina Lopez is the CEO of a company, not so feeble little woman.

"Emma, Gina wouldn’t just say yes on the outside but actually be excluding you in her heart, right?" Emily Berns asked Emma Campbell quietly as they walked behind.

In the past, Emma Campbell really couldn’t be sure, but when Gina Lopez stood up for her today, she truly felt how protective Gina Lopez was of her. With a sweet smile, she said, "No, Sister Gina is really nice to ."

"How is that possible? Gina Lopez is full of sches; why would she agree to such an absurd thing? She must be up to sothing."

Emma Campbell smiled slightly and said, "No, if Sister Gina says the word, I’ll leave and won’t bother them. How could she be up to sothing?"

John Brown turned his head back and said, "Don’t start a conspiracy theory here. Such a pure girl like Emma, and you’ve corrupted her."

Emily Berns imdiately rolled her eyes at John Brown and said, "In your eyes, everyone’s a good person, except I’m the only conspirator, is that it?"

John Brown chuckled lightly and said, "I didn’t say that. This fish looks good. How about I make you so braised fish today?"

At this mont, with people around, Emily Berns couldn’t conveniently continue this topic. The three just went about buying groceries and then went to the kindergarten to pick up Little Violet.

"Godmother, Sister Emma, you’ve co to pick up Little Violet too." Little Violet, upon seeing Emma Campbell, imdiately excitedly ran over to grab Emma Campbell. Between Emily Berns and Emma Campbell, she seed more intimate with Emma Campbell.

Watching Emma Campbell holding Little Violet’s hand, Emily Berns felt even more uneasy, muttering quietly to John Brown, "Well, it seems the daughter gets along with everyone except her own mom."

John Brown said with a smile, "Emma is young, so in Little Violet’s eyes, she’s just like a playmate. And you and Gina are both her mother—always the ones controlling her, so naturally, she prefers to be with those like Emma and Charlotte."

These words were sowhat comforting to Emily Berns, giving her so solace in her feeling of loss.

When they got ho, Gina Lopez and Emily Lopez were already back. Emily Berns secretly observed Gina Lopez, wanting to see how she treated Emma Campbell.

"Emma, are you feeling better?" Gina Lopez asked with concern as soon as she ca in.

Emma Campbell quickly said, "Thank you, Sister Gina. I’m fine now."

Emily Lopez, who hadn’t co back with her sister and didn’t know what had happened, imdiately asked, "What happened?"

Gina Lopez narrated the incident of Emma Campbell helping an elderly and being extorted. Upon hearing this, both Emily Lopez and Emily Berns were filled with righteous indignation, cursing that shaless old man’s family.

"Even a dog rembers kindness and wags its tail in friendliness if you give it a treat. That old man’s family is downright wicked."

"Exactly, it’s like the snake in the Farr and the Viper story. You save it, and it bites you back."

"Brother-in-law, did they just comply after you scolded them? And you just let them go like that? Such scum are a nace in society."

Gina Lopez and John Brown exchanged a glance, and John Brown chuckled, "Don’t worry, I’ll deal with them, but we’re civilized people, so no need for barbarism."

Emily Lopez scoffed and said, "Deal with filth and scum, there’s no civility to talk about with them."

At this mont, Little Violet said, "If an old man falls, shouldn’t we help him?"

The adults in the room were all stunned. Little Violet had posed a big dilemma for them. Saying yes ans risking big trouble, especially with extortionists like these, making people unwilling to do any good deeds anymore.

But if they say no, it contradicts normal morals and can negatively impact a child’s worldview and values.

John Brown and his group were all at a loss about how to respond.

"Dad, Moms, and Sister Emma, should we help or not?" Little Violet blinked her big eyes, eagerly looking at the group.

John Brown coughed lightly and said, "When you see an elderly person fall, you should help. But since you’re still a child and might not be able to help, you should call an adult to assist. If no one cos, you can call 120 or 110, and then police and doctors will handle it."

Having just listened to the adults’ conversation, Little Violet half-understood but knew that Emma Campbell helped an old man and was wrongfully accused. Frowning, she asked, "But Sister Emma helped the elderly, why did they bla Sister Emma for hitting them?"

Emma Campbell picked up Little Violet and said softly, "There are both good and bad people in the world, and the sa goes for the elderly. Many elderly are good people, but there are a few who are bad. Today, Sister Emma just ran into a bad one and was frad. But there are still more good elderly people, so we should help them when they fall."

Little Violet cheered imdiately, "I get it now. We help good elders, and we ignore the bad ones, right, Sister Emma?"

Emma Campbell said with a cheerful smile, "Little Violet, you’re so smart!"

Having solved the dilemma, they avoided discussing it further, fearing it might negatively influence Little Violet.

Emily Berns realized that Gina Lopez accepted Emma Campbell, aning John Brown essentially had wives and concubines at ho.

Emily Berns had seen such things in their big family. When family marriages occur, if the wife cos with a strong background, any outside woman stays hidden. If the wife is ordinary, the man might openly bring another woman ho. In fact, one of her second cousins brought another woman ho in this manner after marrying his wife.

Though his wife was quite unwilling, throwing fits with the family elders several tis and even though nothing changed, the two won were never harmonious. But John Brown could get Gina Lopez and Emma Campbell to be like sisters, harmoniously at that, which wasn’t even seen in her own family.

Moreover, for Emily Berns, there was another puzzling matter. Emma Campbell was also living here, so was John Brown staying with Gina Lopez or Emma Campbell? According to Emma Campbell, she wasn’t here often, so it seed like John Brown should be staying with Emma Campbell. However, Charlotte ntioned that she stayed with Emma Campbell and John Brown together. Could Charlotte have been telling the truth?

In her modest experience, Emily Berns was unsure. Her only encounter with John Brown was under unusual circumstances. While the idea of a woman with a man was embarrassing enough for her to even think about, the notion of two won with one man was simply unthinkable.
