Chapter 670: Chapter 708: The Competitive Mindset

It was already late when we returned to the hotel, and as everyone gathered together, they were ready to start eating. There were quite a few people, with ten people per table, and over ten tables filled. Among the guests were not only Sarah Johnson’s high school classmates but also her college friends, so of her husband’s associates, and so classmates who brought their partners.

Typically, not everyone would attend a classmate’s wedding, but considering Sarah Johnson’s husband’s wealth, everyone naturally wanted to curry favor. Anyone who had been a classmate with Sarah Johnson or her husband wanted to co. Today wasn’t the actual wedding day, so not everyone was here yet. There was still a large crowd expected to arrive tomorrow, making it a lively gathering.

On Sarah Utah’s side, it was still her high school friends, and they occupied two tables. Lisa Smith, along with her boyfriend John Adams, sat at the sa table as Sarah Utah.

Apart from reminiscing about school fun, classmates loved to talk about how everyone was doing now.

Since Jas Brown and John Adams were not classmates but were considered plus-ones, they sat next to each other, with Sarah and Lisa beside them.

So latecors at the table started asking Lisa, “Lisa Smith, how are you doing now?”

Lisa loved when others asked her this. She imdiately said with feigned modesty, “Not bad, just a small civil servant, earning a steady inco without any major prospects.”

“Civil servant, huh? That’s impressive. You know how many people are dying to beco civil servants these days, don’t you? You see how many people take the civil service exam each year.”

“That’s a misconception about civil servants. We only earn that little monthly wage, not even enough for my beauty products. Plus, I have a car to maintain. If it weren’t for my husband’s earnings, we’d be in trouble.” Lisa was modestly downplaying her job, but she was simultaneously boasting about her husband’s abilities and the fact that they had a car.

“Wow, you have a car already? What car did you get?”

Lisa further downplayed, her smile even more radiant, “Oh, it’s nothing, just a new Toyota Camry.”

“The new model? That costs over two hundred thousand! Your husband must be quite capable.”

“It’s nothing, really. He’s just a manager at T Corporation, earning around two hundred thousand a year, nothing special.”

Everyone imdiately cast envious glances at Lisa. She couldn’t compare to Sarah Johnson, who was considered a multimillionaire, but compared to everyone else, she was still quite impressive. After all, being a civil servant was already enviable, and finding such a capable boyfriend added to it.

Lisa enjoyed the envy of others and laughed lightly, saying, “Speaking of cars, it reminds of sothing funny. I saw Sarah Utah and her boyfriend the other day, and he was driving a flashy Porsche 911. It scared to death at the ti.”

“What? Sarah Utah, you roll like that?” Several newcors imdiately exclaid in surprise. They had been introduced to Jas Brown earlier, but they didn’t know what he did. Hearing about the Porsche, they assud it was worth millions, and anyone who could afford such a car must have tens of millions.

Lisa giggled, “At first, I thought Sarah Utah had found a wealthy fiancé, but later found out it was their boss’s car, not theirs.”

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. A person driving a Porsche brought too much pressure in such a setting. Since that wasn’t the case, it relieved their stress.

Lisa thought this would embarrass Sarah Utah, but Sarah didn’t react at all as if she didn’t feel any humiliation. This left Lisa feeling as if her punch had landed on a pillow, quite unsatisfying.

At this ti, Sarah Johnson received a phone call and quickly stepped out. In the corridor, she t Jessica Johnson and Jennifer Hog and hurriedly greeted them. Whether tomorrow’s wedding would be a morable event for her life depended crucially on Jessica and Jennifer. A woman only has one most important mont in her life, and everyone values it highly.

“Ladies, the big hosts are here. We’ve been waiting for you. Co, co, we’ve specially prepared a table for you in the private room.”

Jessica and Jennifer were different now. In the past, they might have wanted to cozy up to such millionaires, but ever since their relationship with Jas Brown began, they could treat such wealthy individuals with calm. They were attending today due to familiar connections, not because of wealth.

“No need to be so formal. We’re just here to grab a bite,” Jessica smiled gracefully, appearing even more poised. With a ntal shift, both she and Jennifer seed to have elevated their overall aura.

Sarah Johnson and her husband were about to go to a private room when they happened to pass by the hall where Jas Brown and the others were, and Jennifer Hog and Alice Brown spotted Jas Brown with just a glance. There were more than a hundred people in the room, but they only casually glanced and saw Jas Brown. Whether it was telepathy or they were thinking about him all day long, they couldn’t tell.

The two exchanged a glance and slowed their pace. Alice Brown said, “Are those your classmates?”

Sarah Johnson quickly said, “Yes.”

“Then let’s just eat with them.”

Sarah Johnson hurriedly said, “How’s that possible? It’s so noisy here. How can we let two big hosts eat in such a place?”

Jennifer Hog smiled and said, “They are your classmates, so they naturally know so things about you. We can chat with them and dig into your past, which will make tomorrow even more interesting, won’t it?”

Sarah Johnson’s eyes lit up. Indeed, they were star hosts, much better than those who specialized in wedding hosting. She imdiately led the two into the hall.

As soon as Jennifer Hog and Alice Brown entered, they attracted everyone’s attention, not only due to their status but also because of their attire and deanor. The young people here were all twenty-three or twenty-four, just over a year out of college, and with little experience in the rough-and-tumble of society, they hadn’t yet cultivated a real aura. The girls even if they wanted to dress up, hadn’t mastered how to dress tastefully.

As for Jennifer Hog and Alice Brown, regardless of whether their clothes were branded or not, the main thing was that they were well-fitted, making them look smart, capable, and bringing out their beauty even more brilliantly. Tight-fitting blazers highlighted their bosoms and waists, the sa short skirts, the sa flesh-colored stockings, paired with black high heels. Together, the two radiated the enticing vibe of white-collar beauties.

Compared to them, the girls here seed much more immature. They were like buds ready to bloom, while Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog were those blooming roses, stunningly beautiful, with only Sarah Utah able to compare with the two.

Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog didn’t go directly to Jas Brown. They needed an excuse to get next to him, as Jas Brown preferred keeping a low profile. If they blatantly approached him, he might not be pleased.

When Jas Brown’s college classmates got married, the two had attended that occasion too. Apart from Sarah Utah, they hadn’t seen anyone else familiar at the table with Jas, so even if he was classmates with the newlyweds, they surely weren’t college classmates—more likely high school. Given Jas was seated with Sarah Utah, it seed Jas was accompanying her.

Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog were indeed smart, almost guessing accurately. To sit with Jas Brown for a bit longer, they shouldn’t go to him at first, so Alice suggested to Sarah Johnson, “Let’s find your college classmates first.”

Sarah Johnson imdiately led the two to her college classmate’s table. The two hosts then formally asked about so university incidents. After about ten minutes, they asked to go to the high school classmate’s table. Sarah Johnson’s husband first took them to his high school friends’ table, which made the two a bit anxious, but they had to be patient until they could finally reach Jas Brown’s table.

Once Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog arrived, Lisa Smith began to get very excited because all the classmates were staring admiringly at Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog, and she had once dined with them due to an opportunity.

“Will they co to our table?” a girl whispered.

A boy imdiately responded, “They should co to us. We’re quite familiar with Sarah Johnson, so they surely would ask over here.”

“If we could chat with them for a while, it would truly be exciting. We always see them on TV, and now not only do we see them in reality, but also get to chat. Just thrilling!”

Lisa Smith proudly said right away, “What’s exciting about that? I’ve already dined with them before.”

“Really? Are you well acquainted with them?” soone quickly inquired.

Lisa Smith embellished her story about dining with Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog, and as she grew more excited, she unconsciously began boasting, saying, “I tell you, we’re good friends, and when I marry Jason Woods, they’ll definitely host for us.”

At this mont, Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog, after many calls, finally ca to this table, and Lisa Smith stood up excitedly, saying, “Alice, Laura, I’m Lisa Smith. We had dinner together last ti.”

Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog could finally be together with Jas Brown, already incredibly thrilled inside. Both showed excitent and joy on their faces, while Lisa Smith thought their expressions were because they recognized her, causing her so surprise, but mostly pride. At this mont, she needed to show her superiority compared to Sarah Utah since she couldn’t compare with Sarah Johnson.
