Don’t be fooled by how arrogant Charles Goodman appears; he acts like a typical playboy, a scatterbrain. But actually, this guy isn’t dumb. In so ways, he’s quite smart - like in the casino, he’s a very clever person. Right now, he’s setting John Brown up, and he’s doing it quite well.

At first, he didn’t gamble big, usually betting just about a thousand, but as he lost a little, he started betting more and more, and it seed like he was specifically targeting John Brown, trying to compete with him. Soon, this guy was placing bets of ten thousand each ti.

Initially, when John Brown saw him betting so big, he didn’t dare to follow, even with a small pair. But after watching Charles Goodman and Robert Johnson play a couple of rounds, he seed to see through it. Charles Goodman was acting like a fool who loved to intimidate people, like with a small pair, daring to bet tens of thousands—a typical sucker with money to burn.

Now, John Brown is making the other side think of him as a novice, while Charles Goodman also wants John Brown to see him as a scatterbrain. The two of them are playing dumb with each other, waiting for the mont to pounce like wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Next, John Brown tried to challenge Charles Goodman twice and won each ti. John Brown showed imnse joy, making Charles even more pleased since it ant John had taken the bait. Once he’s comfortable with such high stakes, things will get easier.

anwhile, Ryan King and Brandon Carter were almost just bystanders, rarely following the cards. If they occasionally did follow, it was definitely with good cards. Being as steady as they were, they naturally wouldn’t lose. In such situations, they couldn’t win much either, so they just stayed in a no-win, no-loss situation, whereas John Brown beca the big winner. Most of Charles Goodman’s seventy thousand dollars were already lost, and the guy exchanged for another one million dollars in chips.

It seed like the opportunity ca quickly. When John Brown beca the dealer, Charles Goodman got a good hand, a flush with five, six, seven. Despite being low point cards, because it’s a flush, it’s quite strong, and the only thing that beats it would be three of a kind—which is very hard to get—or a higher flush.

If you’ve played poker, you should know how hard it is to get three of a kind or a flush. You can play for hours without a single one. And even if you do get such a good hand, if the other players have nothing good, it’s practically useless. Without anyone challenging you, you can’t win any money.

Charles Goodman was most worried that John Brown wouldn’t have any good cards, which would be a sha. However, John Brown raised an eyebrow, clearly indicating he had sothing, and by the way he raised it, it looked like he might have a straight, at most a flush.

This made Charles Goodman very happy; it was a great opportunity to take John Brown down hard in this hand.

"Ten thousand!" Charles Goodman, as usual, grabbed a chip worth ten thousand and tossed it into the center of the table.

Robert Johnson looked at his cards this ti and matched the ten thousand. By this stage, anyone with even a small pair had to follow with ten thousand, and John Brown, of course, did the sa.

Brandon Carter and Ryan King imdiately folded.

In the second round, Charles Goodman still spoke first, tossing another ten thousand quickly, with Robert Johnson following suit. John Brown glanced at the two of them and showed a hint of delight on his face as he also tossed in ten thousand.

Charles Goodman snorted and said, "I don’t trust you can beat every hand, kid. If you have the guts, just follow." With that, he tossed in ten thousand. In such cases, he was usually bluffing.

Robert Johnson smiled slightly, saying, "I’ll join in the fun; I have a hand." In this poker ga, full of truth and lies, saying you have a hand often ans your cards aren’t great and you’re not very confident.

John Brown chuckled and said, "Looks like my hand is pretty good too, so I’ll follow as well."

Now, whatever John Brown said, Charles Goodman and Robert Johnson didn’t care; they were all focused on John Brown’s expressions. Also, Emily Lopez and Lucy Campbell’s reactions were crucial, as their facial expressions could betray John Brown’s hand. In this ga, it’s actually quite risky to have people watching closely, as any tells could easily give it away.

"Damn, co on, bring it on, I don’t believe you’ll keep going." Charles Goodman tossed in another ten thousand.

Robert Johnson hesitated for a mont and threw in ten thousand, saying, "Brother-in-law, if your hand isn’t good, you should back off, give a chance to see Charles’s hand."

John Brown rubbed his nose, saying, "I’ll follow this hand, as long as soone folds, then I’ll see who has the bigger hand."

Charles Goodman rolled his eyes, saying, "I’ll never fold, no matter what. Even if I lose, I won’t be scared off."

Robert Johnson chuckled, saying, "If I back out now after what you said, I wouldn’t be respecting you, so I’ll follow for a couple more hands and see."

John Brown widened his eyes, saying, "Am I supposed to be scared of you guys? I’m in, too."

For five or six rounds, the three kept throwing in tens of thousands, and Charles Goodman pretended to play so psychological tactic, glaring and saying, "Are you really not folding? Fine, let’s raise the stakes, put in a max of fifty thousand, anyone dare to join?"

Robert Johnson promptly said, "That’s not right, we’re just playing, no need to go that big, right?"

Charles Goodman, like a gambler seeing red, said, "Nonsense, if you’re scared, don’t follow. I’m in for fifty thousand."

Robert Johnson seed to be at a loss after Charles Goodman said that, shook his head, and said, "Alright, alright, I’ll accompany you for a round, and we’ll compete next ti."

The two seed to completely ignore Jas Brown.

Jas Brown hesitated for a mont, then said to Grace Lopez, "Honey, things have gotten so big at once, should we still stick with it?"

Grace Lopez hesitated for a mont and said, "If we look at it from a business perspective, you’re betting seventy thousand dollars to potentially win over four hundred thousand dollars, which is an eight-fold profit. That’s a pretty suitable operation." This girl never liked doing business, but still managed to say sothing like this, which is really impressive.

Jas Brown turned to Lucy Campbell and said, "What do you think?"

Lucy Campbell gently shook Jas Brown’s arm and said, "Gina has already said so, let’s just listen to her. After all, this money was all won; even if we lose it, it’s not a big deal. Besides, they probably don’t have a better hand than yours, right?"

Jas Brown gritted his teeth and said, "Alright, I’ll follow for one more round then." He also tossed in seventy thousand dollars worth of chips.

Charles Goodman was delighted, but glared and said, "Hey kid, you’re really going to follow? This doesn’t let see Robert Johnson’s cards." Then he also tossed in seventy thousand dollars worth of chips.

Robert Johnson frowned and tossed in seventy thousand dollars worth of chips, saying, "Charles, brother-in-law, couldn’t one of you back down?"

Jas Brown saw both of them follow and hesitated again, saying, "Neither of them is backing down. It seems like their hands aren’t strong, so what should I do?"

Grace Lopez stared at the chips below and said, "You’ve already tossed over one hundred forty thousand dollars; it doesn’t seem appropriate not to toss more, right?"

Lucy Campbell whispered sothing in Jas Brown’s ear and then glanced at Charles Goodman. Jas Brown imdiately beca happy, threw in seventy thousand dollars with a grin, and said, "I said to back down when you should. Trying to scare people now won’t work."

"Who said I’m scaring people? I really have a hand, and you two dare follow? I’ll tell you, I definitely won’t back down." Charles Goodman tossed in more chips while kicking Robert Johnson under the table.

Robert Johnson chuckled and said, "If you’re not backing down, I’m not either," then gave Charles Goodman a quick look of gratitude.

The two secretly understood each other, with Charles Goodman thinking Robert Johnson was following just to prevent Jas Brown from seeing the cards, so that Jas wouldn’t let go of his hand and would have to keep following. Who would give up on a flush hand?

However, Charles Goodman misunderstood Robert Johnson’s intentions, because Robert had indeed picked up a good hand, even better than Charles’s. His three cards were all eights, practically a winning hand, and he also thought Charles was deliberately cooperating with him.

At that mont, both felt they were cooperating seamlessly, squeezing Jas Brown verbally, while Jas had followed several rounds, wagering five to six hundred thousand dollars—both his winnings and even the chips he exchanged.

"What should I do?" Jas Brown was sweating by this point, wiped his sweat, looked at Grace Lopez, and then at Lucy Campbell.

Grace Lopez appeared very nervous at this point and said, "Oh, the stakes are too high. Stopping now would be wise, but if their hands aren’t better than yours, your losses would be too great. But if theirs are better, continuing to follow would an even greater losses."

Lucy Campbell also felt a bit anxious and said, "Honey, maybe we should just let it go; consider the seventy thousand dollars as play money."

Charles Goodman imdiately said, "If you’re going to back out, do it quickly, don’t dawdle. Are you playing, or is your woman playing? Can a grown man even make a decision?"

Jas Brown’s eyes widened as if he couldn’t stand Charles Goodman’s taunts, and yelled, "A gamble is a gamble! Am I afraid of you? Waiter, bring another one million dollars worth of chips."

Grace Lopez imdiately said, "Honey, don’t. One million is too much."

Jas Brown snorted and said, "Don’t we still have one million? What’s the matter, you won’t give it to ?"

Grace Lopez frowned and said, "If we lose it all, our family won’t have any money left."

"If we’re broke, so be it. We can earn it back later. Besides, we might win." At this point, Jas Brown resembled a gambler blinded by greed, seemingly ready to sell even his wife.
