51: Chapter 51: Guessed Right 51: Chapter 51: Guessed Right When Gina Lopez got to the company, she still made a call to Emma Davis, telling her that Jas Brown had sent her on a job, so she wouldn’t be able to punch in today.
With the boss’s explanation, Emma Davis naturally couldn’t count it as Jas Brown skipping work, but she did wonder about it.
It turned out that Jas really was Mr.
Lopez’s man.
Otherwise, Gina Lopez wouldn’t be calling in sick for him personally.
It seed like she really should not underestimate this Jas Brown.
The personnel relationships within the company were much like those in governnt departnts.
As a leader, you always had to try and figure out what those above you were thinking.
If you accidentally offended the higher-ups, you would definitely be in trouble later.
Even though Gina Lopez had always been fair in her work as the boss, she had never arranged for her own people before, so it was best to be careful with Jas Brown.
Gina Lopez didn’t intend to disturb Jas Brown, but his phone still rang early on.
Jas Brown was sleeping soundly.
He really hadn’t slept well the night before.
Even though not sleeping all night was no big deal for soone with his constitution, he had gotten used to the comfortable life in the city in nearly three months.
Not sleeping was sowhat uncomfortable.
Glancing at the phone number, it was Sarah Grandy’s, and checking the ti, he couldn’t help but smile wryly as he picked up.
From the other end ca Sarah Grandy’s voice, “Uncle, why haven’t you co yet?”
Jas Brown yawned and said, “I didn’t sleep well last night.
I’m going to the company later.
You go to school by yourself.”
“Stupid Uncle, you’re so inconsiderate.
You don’t go to work and you don’t even tell , causing to wait for ages.
I’m going to be late.”
“Sorry, and besides, I’m moving out in a couple of days.
You’ll have to go to school on your own anyway.”
“Hmph, not talking to you anymore.” Sarah Grandy said huffily before hanging up the phone.
Jas Brown tossed his phone aside and then collapsed back onto the bed to continue his deep sleep.
It was already past work ti, and Gina Lopez hadn’t called him, which obviously ant she was grateful and letting him rest at ho.
With the boss backing him up, he naturally could take the day off.
However, before he was asleep for long, his phone rang again, and this ti it was Emily Lopez’s number, which made Jas Brown sowhat annoyed.
He answered the call and said, “Emily, what’s wrong?”
Emily Lopez giggled and said, “Brother-in-law, are you at work?”
“No, I’m at ho sleeping.
Your sister had a fever last night, and I took care of her.
I’m catching up on so sleep now.”
“Ah, my sister had a fever?
How is she now?”
“She’s fine, gone to work.
Emily, if there’s nothing important, I’m hanging up.
I’m dead tired.”
“Wait, Brother-in-law, hehe, I think you’re working too hard.
Such a drag.”
“Emily, I’m at your sister’s place right now.
Do you need to try the landline to check?”
Emily Lopez laughed, “No need at all.
So let ask you, Brother-in-law, since you’re living with my sister, does that an you’ve already slept together?”
Jas Brown’s face fell.
He hadn’t expected Emily Lopez to ask such a question, but then he had an awkward thought and said, “While I’m with your sister, you know what she’s like.
She wouldn’t agree to that easily.
So, we’re still innocent.
The last ti I went back, she let stay in the sa room with her just to reassure our uncle and aunt.
In fact, nothing has happened between us.”
Emily Lopez exclaid in surprise, “No way?
You two are really dating!”
Jas Brown breathed a sigh of relief, knowing his guess was correct.
Emily Lopez must have realized that he and Gina Lopez weren’t that close, so she always assud their relationship was fake.
He said, “Of course, we are dating.
What else would it be?”
“It’s so boring, boring to death.” Emily Lopez was clearly very disappointed.
Jas Brown chuckled, “I think it’s not too bad.
These things should happen naturally.”
“There are still n like you nowadays.
My sister really struck gold, sigh…”
“Alright, Emily, I’ve told you the truth.
You don’t have to keep investigating us.
It’s making nervous.
I’m scared that I’ll give you the wrong idea, and I don’t dare go out at night.
Just give a few days off.”
“Okay, okay, I won’t bother you anymore.
So, Brother-in-law, you can’t forget to do what you promised .”
“Rest assured, if I’ve promised you sothing, I’ll definitely do it.”
“I knew Brother-in-law was the best, hehe.
Here’s to you getting my sister soon, haha…”
Emily Lopez’s mood changed quickly, from being depressed to becoming happy again.
After chatting for a bit more, she finally hung up the phone.
Fortunately, Emily Lopez didn’t call back right away.
After Jas Brown had packed up his things, he gave Gina Lopez a call before leaving her place.
“I’m leaving now.”
“What do you an you’re leaving?” Gina Lopez was sitting in the office reviewing docunts when she heard Jas’s abrupt statent, imdiately asking with confusion.
“Sandra won’t bother us anymore.”
“Why?
Did you tell her the truth?” Gina suddenly exclaid.
“No…” Jas Brown repeated the conversation he had had with Emily Lopez to Gina Lopez.
Gina Lopez felt very embarrassed after listening but also relieved that her sister would believe it.
She said, “Then I owe you one.
But if I need your help again, please be there for .”
“No problem, as long as I’m not tied up like this every day.
Call anyti if there’s anything else.”
“Alright…” Gina Lopez was about to hang up the phone but then she rembered Jas hadn’t co to work today.
She quickly said, “I’ve already asked for a day off for you today.
Get so good rest and co back to work tomorrow.
I’ll handle things with Sandra.”
After all, she was an executive and quickly adjusted her mindset.
Now Jas Brown was feeling relaxed, whistling as he left Gina Lopez’s house.
But when he closed the door behind him, he unexpectedly felt a bit reluctant to leave.
Shaking his head and smiling, he thought that even though Gina Lopez was great, she wasn’t the woman he needed.
So he left her place nonchalantly and headed to his own ho.
Lying in his own bed was indescribably comfortable.
Just as he was about to shut his eyes and take a good nap, there was a knock at the door, which left him incredibly frustrated.
What was going on today that he just couldn’t get so sleep?
He was tempted to ignore it, but then he heard the voice of the flight attendant, Emily Jenkins, outside: “Big Brother Brown, open the door, it’s , Emily Jenkins.”
Jas Brown had no choice but to get up and open the door, only to see Emily Jenkins standing there with a smile, holding a box in her hand.
“This is for you.” Emily Jenkins pushed the box towards Jas Brown.
“For ?” Jas Brown was surprised, seeing the beautiful flight attendant.
This was the first ti he had received a gift from a woman since returning to YODC City.
“Yeah, I went on a trip and saw a nice n’s watch in a shop there.
I noticed you didn’t have a watch, so I bought one for you.”
Jas Brown took the box, saying, “You really thought of , huh?
Well, I won’t be shy then.
Co in and sit down.”
Emily Jenkins, with her hands behind her back, followed Jas Brown into his house.
He gestured for her to sit on the couch, saying, “Thanks for thinking of bringing a gift.”
Emily Jenkins playfully stuck out her tongue and said, “I’m just bribing you so I can co over for a al at your place in the future.”
“You’re pretty blunt, but since you gave a gift, I guess I have to let you co over for als.
I won’t feel bad about accepting your gift now.”
“Exactly, try it on and see if it fits.
If it doesn’t, I can get you a different one next ti I fly out.”
Jas Brown took out the watch.
It was black, sowhat similar to a Rado, and while he didn’t know much about watches, he had t plenty of wealthy people to realize that this watch must be a high-quality replica and wouldn’t be too expensive.
That put his mind at ease.
After putting it on, he laughed and said, “Not bad, I’m a ‘watch brother’ now.”
“Lisa Smith, the original ‘watch brother’, actually has lots of them.
You only have one; looks like I’ll need to buy you a few more.”
“That’s alright, one is enough.
By the way, I just got ho.
How did you know to knock on my door?”
“I ca back yesterday, but every ti I knocked, you weren’t ho.
I just heard you opening the door, so I knew you were back and ca to find you.
Also, I haven’t eaten since last night.
I’m starving.”
Jas Brown felt both amused and exasperated, saying, “Seems like you really do think of this place as a diner.
But there’s nothing to eat at ho, I’ll go out and buy sothing.” It looked like he wouldn’t get to sleep after all; having received the watch from Emily Jenkins, he decided to cook her a al.
“I’m coming too!” Emily Jenkins imdiately exclaid excitedly.
