Chapter 491: Chapter 500: Emily Berns Compromises
After spending a night with Jas Brown, Lucy Campbell felt completely at ease in front of him. In the morning, she didn’t wear clothes, just went to freshen up in her underwear and then dressed in front of Jas Brown.
Lucy Campbell was like this, and Jas Brown watched her calmly. Even Jas himself couldn’t quite describe his mindset; with such a beauty before him, he could act as if he were a monk.
Always avoiding isn’t a solution, so Jas Brown returned ho. But since Lucy Campbell had to discuss so matters regarding the YODC City Company with Gina Lopez today, Gina, Sunny Nguyen, and Sarah Utah were taken away by Lucy.
Emily Jenkins had a flight mission today, so she directly left. When Jas Brown returned ho, only Emily Berns, Charlotte, Grace Lopez, and lody Yoody were there, apparently having stayed the night.
“Uncle, where did you go? You weren’t ho last night, and no one held . I didn’t sleep well.” As soon as Jas Brown ca in, Charlotte wrapped her arms around Jas, playfully nudging him with her small chest.
Jas let Charlotte play around, sat with her on the sofa, and laughed, “You’re having too much fun. I just had to go out to avoid the storm.”
lody Yoody rolled her eyes at Jas and said, “Everyone’s dealing with you, yet you have the nerve to run away?”
Jas reached over and hugged lody Yoody’s shoulder, laughing, “Anyway, you wouldn’t start fighting.”
lody didn’t brush Jas’s hand away; she sensed sothing unusual in his response and said, “What’s wrong with you? Acting all crazy?”
Jas nodded, saying, “I’ve made up my mind. Since I can’t do anything about it now, I’ll just let things be.”
“What’s with your attitude?” lody suddenly seed a bit annoyed.
Jas gently rubbed lody’s belly, saying, “Don’t get worked up, you’re pregnant. Getting upset isn’t good for the baby.”
Emily Berns imdiately felt uncomfortable. When she was pregnant, Jas didn’t even know, let alone care for her like this. Seeing Emily’s displeasure, lody instead accentuated her belly, saying, “You do know I’ve got your seed, yet you keep making worry?”
“Yes, yes, it’s my fault. Don’t get upset.” Initially, Jas just wanted to ss around and dispel their hostility, but when he touched lody’s belly, a feeling of kinship surged through him, making his words heartfelt.
“You want not to get angry? At least show so conscience. You married Gina without shoving anything at you, and now you’re juggling left and right, making a ss. How will I explain to the child, saying his dad’s a womanizer?”
“Yes, yes, I’ll be honest from now on.” Jas kept a smiling face.
“Bang”
Emily Berns angrily kicked the coffee table, glaring fiercely at Jas Brown.
Everyone was startled, and Jas instantly guessed why Emily was so furious. If Emily was contending with Gina and the others, Jas wouldn’t really mind. But treating lody this way touched on Emily’s sore spot, making Jas feel genuinely guilty.
“Emily, don’t be angry, I didn’t know when you were pregnant, so I couldn’t care for you like this. How about… you have another one, I’ll make up for what I owe you.”
“Who… who wants to have another with you?” Emily’s anger suddenly vanished, replaced instead by a shyness that made her stamr; apart from being forced once by Jas, Emily hadn’t been touched by any man. Frankly, she was like a young girl now, unable to handle Jas’s words.
Jas laughed heartily, saying, “You’ve already had one for , having another won’t be a problem.”
Emily’s face reddened further, she spat at Jas and scolded, “You rascal, went out all night and back talking nonsense. What are you up to?”
Jas’s antics successfully soothed both lody and Emily’s anger. He then cheerfully said, “lody, Emily, you’re both mothers of my children. I’m no different in how I treat you. Honestly, I don’t know what to do now. You can argue all you want, but I can’t decide anything. How about we all get along and discuss anything that cos up?”
Emily huffed, “Of course I hope so, I never thought of ssing with them all the ti.”
Emily’s reaction surprised both Jas and lody; Charlotte didn’t understand either. Emily was relentless yesterday in her determination, but why was she suddenly so agreeable today?
Emily was actually a smart woman; initially finding Jas, she truly felt both love and hate towards him, which led her to act drastically. But after spending ti with Jas, sleeping with her daughter every night, that maternal instinct let her open her heart, and her thoughts beca less extre.
For her daughter, and also for herself, she needed to be with Jas. But constant arguing wouldn’t earn her any affection from Jas, only keep him worried, which would only drive a wedge between them. So this ti, after stirring things up with Gina and the others, she realized that retreating to advance might make Gina and the others less antagonistic towards her, leaving a positive impression with Jas.
“What’s the matter, you’re still unsatisfied with my approach?” Emily’s face showed grievance.
Jas nodded repeatedly, “Very satisfied, very satisfied.”
Emily smiled faintly, saying, “I’ve thought it over these past few days, my daughter isn’t just mine. I can’t be so selfish, especially since I’ve got so things to handle recently and can’t stay ho. So I’ve been thinking, after a while, I’ll let you take the daughter.”
“Are you serious?” Jas’s voice suddenly beca much louder.
“Of course I’m serious, you’re her father. You wouldn’t want to shirk this responsibility, would you?”
“Of course not, absolutely not.” John Brown excitedly rubbed his hands together.
“Then it’s settled. I’ll visit our daughter from ti to ti, just make sure your wife doesn’t keep out.”
“Absolutely not, Gina isn’t that kind of person.”
“Alright, lody, we really shouldn’t be fighting. Our fate is the sa; we both had kids with this guy and can’t be with him. No matter how much we fight, we won’t get anything out of it in the end, right?”
This comnt really struck a chord with lody Yoody. She shot John Brown a glance but said nothing.
John honestly didn’t expect things to take such a turn, and he excitedly said to Emily Berns, “Emily, thank you so much.”
“Why be so polite with ? Even if I can’t be your wife, I’m still the mother of your daughter, right?”
“Right, right.” John nodded repeatedly, and his impression of Emily Berns changed significantly.
anwhile, Sarah Grandy was pouting, looking resentfully at Emily Berns. Emily laughed lightly and said, “Charlotte, you don’t need to be upset. No matter who Jas ends up with, he won’t leave, right, lody?”
lody Yoody snorted. She was still dissatisfied with Sarah Grandy’s behavior yesterday, but after hearing from Gina Lopez about Sarah’s situation, she couldn’t really be angry with her. Such a young girl faced with the sudden loss of her parents, relying on soone is normal. Mainly, her Humph was because Emily Berns bought this favor, and she couldn’t refuse, feeling quite at a loss.
Sarah Grandy clung to John Brown’s arm, pouting as she said, “Uncle…”

“I knew Uncle was the best.” Sarah imdiately wrapped her arms around John’s neck and gave him a quick kiss.
Due to Emily Berns’s sudden goodwill, the atmosphere at ho suddenly beca much more harmonious, and John naturally felt very much at ease, even enjoying a kind of blatant pride of having won around on both sides.
At noon, John happily offered to cook for everyone, and Emily Lopez eagerly insisted on going out with him.
From yesterday until now, John hadn’t actually spoken many words with Emily Lopez. As she eagerly ca out now, he knew she must have sothing to say to him.
“Sandra, are you really mad at ?” John asked Emily Lopez with a smile as they stepped out of the elevator.

Emily giggled and said, “What are you afraid of a little peck? You’re my Brother-in-law, after all. A sister-in-law is like half a wife.”
John glared at Emily and said, “Stop talking nonsense, or your sister will spank you if she finds out.”
Emily laughed triumphantly and said, “My sister has too many external enemies right now to pay any attention. If I don’t take advantage of the situation now, once my sister deals with those external enemies, I’ll have no chance.”
Emily joyfully held John’s arm as they entered the supermarket, always sporting a radiant smile. Everyone who saw them would think they were a couple rather than Brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
But in John’s heart, he kept wondering, what kind of opportunity is Emily looking for?
