45: Chapter 44 Life 45: Chapter 44 Life “Hello?
Run out of things to say?
Let tell you, next ti you brag to , make it a bit more believable.
Going on about Ms.
Lopez, Ms.
Lopez, that paragon of virtue and a company president, do you really think soone like you could end up with her?” Sunny Nguyen teased Jas Brown excitably.
“Why couldn’t I?
Chief Smith, you’re also calling in the dead of night, aren’t you?” Jas responded flippantly.
Sunny was choked up by Jas’s words, imdiately replying angrily, “You jerk, how dare you say that?
What was with you today?”
“What about today?” Jas had a look of confusion on his face.
“Playing dumb, are you?
What did you do to in the elevator today?
You jerk, hoodlum, that was so shaful and indecent.”
Jas chuckled, “I say, Chief Smith, you can’t bla for that.
When the elevator was as packed as a dumpling, I couldn’t help but stick close to you, could I?”
“But you…
you didn’t have to do that.”
Her words were quite suggestive, making Jas’s heart flutter as he laughed and said, “With a beauty like Chief Smith in my arms, it would be unfathomable for not to react.
That’s your charm being too irresistible, you can’t bla for that.”
“Go splash so cold water on your face, you smooth talker.”
“Heh heh.”
“Ah, you damn rogue, don’t you dare say more.
If you keep this up, I’ll really get angry.” Implicitly, she wasn’t truly angry yet.
Jas didn’t tease her further since this was Ms.
Lopez’s place.
He had heard Gina’s footsteps approaching, and even if she didn’t enter his room, she might be heading to take a bath or sothing.
It wouldn’t be good for Sunny to overhear.
“Alright, alright, I’ll stop talking.
So, Chief Smith, can you tell now what the call is really about?”
Sunny snorted, stating, “I called to warn you to show so respect at work.
No inappropriate actions allowed, and even our conversations mustn’t be too informal, especially in the elevator.
You better not take advantage of , or I’ll never let it slide.”
“Alright, alright, I’ll keep in mind to behave as a subordinate should in the presence of a director.
Are you satisfied now?”
“That’s more like it.
I’m not going to talk any longer, I’m off to sleep.” After that, Sunny hung up with ease, though it seed like most of their conversation today was idle chatter.
Even the serious part ended up being rather trivial.
Now, Jas was genuinely puzzled about Sunny’s intentions.
It felt like she was flirting and quarreling with him simultaneously.
If she actually fell for him and beca clingy, that would spell trouble.
Better to steer clear of Sunny Nguyen in the future to avoid bringing trouble upon himself.
For soone as beautiful as Sunny, probably more than ninety percent of n wouldn’t refuse a flirtation.
But Jas was part of that other ten percent—not that he didn’t appreciate a beauty like Sunny, but he truly didn’t want to tie himself down to one woman right now.
Putting the phone down, Jas shook out his quilt, then crawled into bed.
But before he could lie down for even two minutes, the landline in the living room started ringing.
Nowadays, very few households use landline phones since nearly everyone has a mobile.
However, Gina still kept one, and Jas heard Gina’s footsteps as she went to answer it.
“Sandra, I’m really at my wit’s end with you, checking on in the middle of the night…”
Hearing this, Jas imdiately got up, knowing he’d soon have to take the call.
“Aren’t you annoying?
Here, I’ll let him talk.
Jas, Sandra is looking for you.”
“Coming.” Jas answered, walked out of his room to the living room, and took the phone from Gina with a chuckle, “Sandra, you tid your call just perfectly.
I just got ho.
Had you called a mont later, I wouldn’t have been ho, and you’d again suspect I was stepsibling-zoned by your sister.”
“Wow, brother-in-law, you really are at my sister’s?” Sandra’s voice burst with extravagant surprise.
“With your sister, the rich lady, around, I see no reason not to co ho every day.”
“That’s so la.
How can you two even be together?
Even if you are at ho, I still don’t believe it.”
“Well, I can’t help it, your sister and I just clicked like tortoises to green beans.” After saying that, Jas felt Gina’s glaring look and imdiately realized he had insulted not only Gina but himself as well.
“Fine, fine, I’ll just keep suffering then.
Oh God, why did you have to fall for my sister?
You could just let her stay single, it’s driving crazy.”
Gina had heard everything since Sandra’s voice was quite loud over the handset.
She snatched the phone irritably, “You little rascal, what are you talking about?”
“Hmph, it’s your fault for getting a boyfriend so early.
Mom keeps nagging because of you.
Who else am I supposed to bla?
Ugh, I don’t want to talk anymore.
I’m going back to being depressed.”
Gina Lopez hung up the phone and let out a long sigh of relief, while Jas Brown chuckled and asked, “Can I complete the mission now?”
Gina Lopez shook her head and replied, “No, you still have to stay here for the next couple of days.
I know this girl too well, she definitely won’t give up easily.
She will surely call again in the next few days, and we need to let her know you’re still here, then she might finally give up.”
“It really is troubleso, but okay, I’ll stay for another two days.” After saying that, Jas returned to his room with a gloomy face.
At that mont, Gina really wanted to call Jas back and ask what that expression ant, but she swallowed her words.
Even though she was a beautiful CEO, it didn’t an every man had to revolve around her.
Yet, Jas’s attitude did strike her quite hard.
When she went to the bathroom to take a shower, she unexpectedly found Jas Brown’s underwear on the washing machine—it was the underwear she had bought for him, and it was dry, obviously unwashed.
This left Gina speechless.
How could he not wash his underwear right away?
Did he actually expect her to wash it while at her parents’ house?
She was tempted to just leave it, but the thought of unwashed underwear in her bathroom was too uncomfortable for her.
“Oh well, I’ve washed it for him before, and since I still need his help these next few days, I might as well wash it.” Gina consoled herself as she washed the underwear, but she still felt incredibly stifled.
The next morning was uneventful until the two t in the bathroom.
Jas entered while Gina was brushing her teeth.
“Didn’t you see I’m brushing my teeth?
What are you doing coming in here?” Gina glared at him with her mouth full of foam.
Jas stepped back out and said, “Hurry up then, I’m waiting to use the toilet.”
Gina frowned slightly.
Speaking of the toilet, the idea that she shared the sa toilet seat with Jas really made her uncomfortable.
The thought of sitting where Jas had sat bare-bottod was incredibly unsettling.
But she couldn’t avoid it, and she just had to grit her teeth and bear it.
She couldn’t forbid Jas from using the toilet in her house.
After brushing her teeth and washing her face, Gina finally ca out, to which Jas muttered, “I was about to burst,” and hurriedly rushed into the bathroom, slamming the door behind him.
Seeing Jas in such a rush, Gina couldn’t help but feel a little happy.
If she had known he was holding it, she would have lingered in the bathroom a bit longer.
Once Jas ca out, she stood with her arms crossed and said discontentedly, “Could you please sit down when you use the bathroom next ti?”
“Sit down?
I’m not a woman.
Don’t you know n stand up to pee?” He felt she was overstepping by dictating even how he relieved himself.
“I don’t care about what you do elsewhere, but here in my house, when you stand…
it splashes everywhere and is hard to clean.
Could you please be considerate and sit down from now on?”
“Ugh, what a hassle.
Fine, fine, I’ll sit down next ti.
Here I am, a real man, reduced to sitting while peeing.
What a tragedy.”
Gina was surprised at how easily Jas had agreed, a smile appeared on her face.
“Thank you, that will make things easier for .”
“Alright, your rules are too many.
It’s best to clear up Sandra’s issue quickly so I can be free.
No wonder you don’t have a boyfriend, with all these quirks, what man could stand it?”
That comnt made Gina roll her eyes, but she was too tired to argue with Jas.
She entered the bathroom to clean the toilet, feeling quite aggrieved that as a CEO, she had to clean a toilet for her subordinate.
Jas stood by the door, watching Gina as she bent over cleaning; her movents had a certain grace.
While he was admiring her, Gina suddenly turned around.
To cover up that he was watching her, Jas quickly said with a grin, “Hey, Boss Lopez, if the other employees saw you doing this while I watched, their eyes would pop out.”
Gina snorted at him and said, “A boss is also human and has a personal life.
I have to do everything at ho.”
Jas laughed heartily, “Well, I do feel a sense of accomplishnt now.
To have a boss serve for a few days, just thinking about it feels great.”
“Hurry up and get ready for work.
If you’re late, I’m definitely docking your pay.”
“You aren’t gone yet, so why rush?” Jas remained relaxed.
“Just a reminder, although I have a car, I won’t be taking you with .
You need to figure it out yourself, whether it’s the bus or a cab.”
Jas widened his eyes and exclaid, “Boss Lopez, isn’t that a bit unfair?”
“I have no choice.
I don’t want to stir up any gossip.
I can only put you through this.
At most, I can reimburse you for the cab fare these few days.”
Jas huffed and turned back to his room to change his clothes; public transport was too crowded at this ti, and he did not want to be late.
