431: Chapter 438: Emily Berns Cos Knocking 431: Chapter 438: Emily Berns Cos Knocking After the al, Jas Brown stood up, patted John Smith on the shoulder, and said, “Thanks for the hospitality.

We’re leaving now.”

“Mr.

Brown, I…” John Smith panicked instantly.

If Jas Brown left him to his fate, wouldn’t his life be ruined?

Jas offered a faint smile and said, “Be more mindful in the future.

You’re not young anymore, don’t keep harming those young girls.”

John Smith, with a bitter expression, said, “Mr.

Brown, I really won’t anymore, but… I still have to…”

“It won’t affect anything.

You’re fine now.” As soon as Jas finished speaking, he walked straight out with Lucy Campbell.

“I’m fine?” John Smith’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Jas didn’t seem to have done anything to him.

But since Jas said so, he was inclined to cling to a shred of hope.

He imdiately found soone within the club, and when that woman stripped, he was so nervous he could hardly breathe.

But then, he vaguely felt a reaction there—a far cry from the old pain he used to feel even at the thought of it.

This filled him with joy.

Lying on the bed, letting the woman serve him, his manhood was restored, and he once again beca a functioning man.

After his exhilaration, the re thought of Jas Brown made sweat pour down his forehead.

Jas wasn’t just formidable; he was practically a figure who could decide life and death.

Not only did John have no hatred for him but also a trendous sense of reverence.

If given the chance, he was determined to curry favor with Mr.

Brown and be sure never to offend him.

As Jas Brown exited the club, everyone got into his car.

Lucy Campbell smiled at him and said, “Mr.

Watkins, should I head ho myself so that you can drop off these two lovely ladies?”

Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog blushed at the comnt, both shy and delighted.

They gazed at Jas eagerly.

They weren’t won of loose morals, but when it ca to Jas, they both wished he would agree.

“No need.

I’d better head ho—I’ve been out all day.

My wife will be mad.”

Alice and Jennifer both looked disappointed.

Still, Alice chuckled and said, “Mr.

Smith, you’re married?

Why didn’t you let us know?

We could’ve celebrated with you.”

Jas laughed and replied, “We didn’t host a wedding.

Once we do, I’ll be sure to invite you.”

“Then take us to et your wife,” Jennifer said, giving Jas a playful wink.

Jas smiled and said, “You both know her, so there’s no need.”

“We know her?

Who’s the lucky one?” Alice and Jennifer were both surprised.

Jas rubbed his nose and replied, “You’ll find out at the wedding.

For now, it’s a secret.”

Alice and Jennifer pouted, displeased that Jas wouldn’t take them to et her.

Still, they didn’t dare push for answers or resort to coquettish antics.

To them, Jas was like a god.

Even just clinging to the edge of his life was enough for them—they wouldn’t dare dream of more.

After dropping off Alice and Jennifer, Lucy grew curious and asked about John Smith.

Jas gave her a brief summary.

Lucy listened with great interest and comnted enviously, “Too bad I wasn’t there.

It must’ve been interesting to see.”

Jas chuckled, “Why are you interested in everything, as if you’re not from this world?

Oh wait, maybe you really aren’t.

You’re on such a high level, you can’t even appreciate common pleasures.”

“True.

I used to find my pursuits exciting, but they seem so dull now.

I’m starting to love being ordinary.

Maybe I won’t go back.

I’ll just stay as your secretary forever.”

Jas laughed heartily, “That’d be great.

Having a secretary like you is a treat for the eyes every day.”

Jas took her comnt as a joke and didn’t take it seriously.

But Lucy, leaning against the window, seed lost in thought.

After spending the entire day outside, Jas returned ho to find Emily Lopez pouting, visibly displeased.

This sister-in-law clung to Jas more than his actual wife, Gina Lopez.

Spending the weekend without Jas left Emily sulking.

“Brother-in-law, you’ve been gone so long!

I’m injured, and you’re not even here to take care of ,” Emily complained, pulling Jas down onto the sofa with a look of grievance.

Gina handed Jas a glass of water and said, “I’m ho, aren’t I?

Besides, you’re perfectly fine—why would your brother-in-law need to take care of you?”

Lucy chuckled lightly, “My fault!

I dragged your brother-in-law away.

To make up for it, I bought you so gifts.

Take a look, Emily—they’re handpicked by him.”

Hearing this, Emily brightened up imdiately, eagerly taking the gifts from Lucy and opening them with excitent.

Gina pulled Lucy aside and said, “Why bring gifts?”

“It’s nothing special.

I just saw them while we were shopping.

Besides, I borrowed your husband; otherwise, Jas would’ve been here keeping you company.”

Jas sipped his drink and smiled, “No need to stand on ceremony.

Lucy’s such a big spender—you shouldn’t feel guilty benefiting from her generosity.”

Gina shot him a look, “You’re certainly not shy about it.”

Lucy grinned, “I like Jas being this way.

I don’t have many friends.

I see you all as real friends, so don’t be so formal with .

Otherwise, I’ll feel awkward coming over for dinner in the future.”

“Ah!

Brother-in-law, my sister and I haven’t had dinner yet,” Emily suddenly exclaid.

Jas imdiately smiled, “Alright, brother-in-law will cook for you two.”

Lucy didn’t stay for dinner.

After the three of them ate, they sat in the living room watching TV.

Emily casually rested her feet on Jas’s lap, boldly asking him to massage them in front of her sister.

anwhile, Gina was happily chatting with Jas.

Their ho felt more lively and warm than ever.

But this also reminded Jas of lody Yoody.

She was pregnant and experiencing strong symptoms.

Normally, he should be taking care of her, but he couldn’t.

This thought left Jas uneasy.

“What’s wrong?” Gina noticed Jas seed distracted and nudged him gently.

Jas turned and smiled at Gina, “It’s nothing.

Just random thoughts.”

“Care to share?” Gina probed gently.

“Nothing important—just spaced out a bit.

Now that you ask, I can’t even rember what I was thinking about,” Jas said, avoiding creating a lie about lody’s situation, as he still didn’t know how to address it.

“Brother-in-law, are you daydreaming about so beauty?” Emily teased, nudging him with her foot.

She thought his distraction stemd from massaging her feet.

Gina didn’t press further.

Resting her head on Jas’s shoulder, she softly said, “Husband, don’t forget I’m your wife.

Whatever it is, we can face it together.”

Jas felt a warm surge of gratitude.

Since marrying Gina, he found her more like a gentle, caring wife at ho—nothing like the assertive woman she was at work.

That evening, Gina didn’t head to the bedroom.

Instead, they all stayed in the living room watching TV.

Emily couldn’t cross any lines with Jas but was content having him massage her in front of her sister.

At around ten, they decided to rest.

Emily tried to sleep with the couple, but Gina sternly refused after yesterday’s embarrassnt over letting Emily join them unknowingly.

Emily grumbled but didn’t insist, obediently heading back to her room to sleep.

The weekend passed uneventfully.

Jas stayed ho, keeping company with both his wife and sister-in-law.

Lucy Campbell stopped by for a chat too, and the day flew by.

On Monday, Jas and Lucy arrived at the office together.

David Clark, the plump colleague, sauntered over after learning Lucy was Jas’s cousin.

He tried chatting her up, but Jas quickly sent him away.

Though both Jas and Lucy kept an eye on David, Lucy still couldn’t recall where she had seen him before.

Later, so work arose, and Jas had Lucy report to the office.

If Lucy was keen on being a secretary, Jas treated her as one inside the company.

Lucy had just left when soone knocked on the office door.

Focused on his work, Jas called out for them to enter without glancing up.

The door opened, followed by the rhythmic click of high heels approaching.

Assuming it was Lucy, Jas paid no mind.

With the office busier now, Gina had tasked HR with creating more detailed personnel managent plans, which Jas was painstakingly reviewing.

These tasks were not his forte, so he focused on them with effort.

Several minutes later, Jas sensed sothing off.

The individual had been standing silently at his desk for so ti.

This wasn’t typical of Lucy.

What’s more, their presence radiated intense hostility—an overwhelming killing intent.

Alarm bells rang in Jas’s mind: Could this be a hitman, like the one who kidnapped Charlotte?

Jas cautiously lifted his head, and when he saw the woman’s face, he leaned back abruptly, nearly tipping over his chair.

He had faced countless threats before, but nothing compared to the fear Emily Berns instilled in him!
