307: Chapter 315: Escape 307: Chapter 315: Escape “What should we do?” Helen Wilson looked at Jas Brown.

Jas Brown shrugged his shoulders and said, “If we want to live, we can’t let them capture us; we must escape.”

“But what if they’re police?”

“We have to flee from the police too.

If they’re coming to capture us now, isn’t it obvious what that ans?”

Helen Wilson’s eyes widened as she asked, “How can the police escape?

Are we going to assault the police?”

“So what do you suggest we do?

Surrender without a fight, let them take the evidence?

Not only would we have wasted our ti, but our money would be lost too.

And once we’re locked up, there would be no hope for release.

We’d spend a lifeti in prison for a cri we didn’t commit.

It’s your choice.”

At the sound of the increasingly urgent knocking, Helen Wilson finally clenched her teeth and swung her fist decisively, saying, “Alright, I’ll follow your lead.”

Jas Brown humd in acknowledgnt, “Okay, let’s get ready to open the door.”

Helen Wilson quickly added, “But we’d better not hurt anyone.

After all, these police might not know what’s going on.

They could just be following orders.”

Jas Brown nodded and said, “No problem, it’s not a good look to injure the cops anyway, even if we explain things later.”

Relieved by Jas Brown’s agreent, Helen Wilson and Jas Brown then left the bedroom, while Emily Jenkins was already pacing anxiously.

She wasn’t daring to make a sound in the room, unsure whether to open the door or respond.

Having made one mistake today, she no longer dared to speak recklessly.

Emily Jenkins quickly grabbed Jas Brown’s arm, whispering, “Big Brother Brown, could it be those people are after us?”

Jas Brown looked at Emily Jenkins and sighed, “Emily, it might not be them outside.

It’s more likely the police.”

“Police, that’s a relief then.

I feel at ease now,” Emily Jenkins patted her ample bosom, which quivered slightly.

Quite the spectacle.

But Jas Brown was in no mood to appreciate it and said, “They may be police, but they could be here to arrest us.”

“Ah?

Why?”

“It’s a long story, and there’s no ti to explain now.

We’re prepared to flee, and you need to co with us.”

“Can’t be?” Emily Jenkins suddenly looked confused.

Jas Brown nodded and said, “It’s necessary.

If you don’t escape with us, the police will definitely capture you, and you’ll certainly be considered one of us.

You’ll suffer for it, which is why I must take you with us.”

Emily Jenkins bit her lip and said, “Okay, I’ll go with you.

I know Big Brother Brown wouldn’t hurt .”

Jas Brown didn’t expect Emily Jenkins to agree so readily and continued, “You’d better think it through.

Once we flee, it could be a long ti before we can live like normal people again, to the point that you might lose your job.”

“So what if I lose it?

I’ve had enough of that job anyway.

Worst cos to worst, I can always look for another one.

Besides, as long as Big Brother Brown is fine, I can always mooch off you, right?

As long as I’m not starving, that’s all that matters.” Emily Jenkins ended her statent with a playful smile at Jas Brown.

Jas Brown really didn’t know what to say about Emily Jenkins – whether she was too carefree or just heartless.

But now was not the ti to analyze Emily Jenkins’ character.

He turned to Helen Wilson and said, “Alright, Helen Wilson, go open the door.”

Helen Wilson nodded, looked through the peephole first, then turned to Jas Brown with a wry smile and whispered, “It’s really the police.”

Leonardo Jas nodded at her, and only then did Helen Wilson open the door.

As the door opened, four police officers rushed in, guns raised and pointed at the three people inside, and shouted, “Don’t move.”

Helen Wilson was stunned.

She had not expected them to draw guns as they entered, and now she had no choice but to obediently raise her hands, saying, “I’m a police officer too, what is this about?”

The lead officer, in his thirties, spoke with a stern face, “I know you’re a police officer, a station chief, but you’re now involved in a major smuggling case.

We have an arrest warrant, so please cooperate.

Out of respect for a colleague, don’t force us to get rough.”

“Wait, you’re saying I’m being arrested for smuggling?” Helen Wilson asked, eyes wide in disbelief.

The police officer nodded, perhaps out of collegial compassion, and said, “Yes, you’re implicated with a smuggling ring.”

Helen Wilson imdiately breathed a sigh of relief and said, “Then I’ll go with you.

If I’m involved in smuggling, it’s because I’m undercover.

I’ve recorded the whole process.”

The officer nodded and said, “Good, if you can clear things up, that would be ideal.

Bring out the evidence.”

Helen Wilson hesitated for a mont before saying, “This won’t do, I must give it to Chief N.”

The four police officers exchanged glances, and the leading Centaur imdiately replied, “Alright, take the items and follow us.”

The three followed the four police officers downstairs.

Helen Wilson still managed a smile, asking, “Which departnt are you from?

I’ve never seen you before.”

“We’re from the Criminal Police team.”

“Oh, that explains it.

I haven’t been working for very long, and I haven’t had much to do with your Criminal Police team.

I admire you guys the most, always out solving big cases, unlike us at the station dealing with trivial matters.”

“Hmm, although our work is more dangerous.”

“Dangerous it may be, but this is what real police work should be about.

Just thinking about catching those evil criminals gets excited.”

The four police officers all looked uncomfortable at this, which Helen Wilson failed to notice, but Jas Brown saw this very clearly.

People usually blush when they encounter sothing embarrassing, when their lies are exposed, or when sothing touches on a private matter of their hearts.

And since they were uncomfortable because of what Helen Wilson said, it was clear that what they were doing now was not what real police officers should be doing.

It was quite obvious now that these four police officers knew that their coming here to capture Helen Wilson was not normal.

Once downstairs, two of the police officers were in front and two were behind, escorting Jas Brown and the other two towards a police van.

Upon reaching the van, the two officers in front stopped to let Helen Wilson and the others get on first.

It was at this mont that Jas Brown suddenly acted, his hands shooting out like lightning to strike at the necks of the two officers in front.

Before the two officers behind could react, he had already struck them in the abdon with his elbows.

Then he quickly pulled Helen Wilson and Emily Jenkins into the van, while he himself climbed into the driver’s seat and started the vehicle swiftly.

It wasn’t until the vehicle started moving that Helen Wilson ca to her senses and frantically asked, “What are you doing?”

While driving away quickly, Jas Brown replied, “Those four cops are in cahoots with a smuggling group.

If we’re taken away by them now, it’s like being delivered straight into the tiger’s mouth.”

“Really?

Are you sure you’re not mistaken?”

“Even if I’m mistaken, we can’t afford to blindly trust anyone.

More importantly, don’t you think it’s too strange how these four showed up?

We barely got ho and they turned up at our door with an arrest warrant.

Doesn’t that an they knew about our smuggling activities a long ti ago?”

Helen Wilson also realized that the arrival of these four was too unreasonable and suddenly felt depressed.

As Jas Brown continued to drive, he said, “For now, let’s focus on how to get the evidence into the hands of soone we can trust.”

Helen Wilson spoke despondently, “I don’t even know who can be trusted anymore.

Such a huge case has been undetected for so long, I don’t know how many people are involved.

Informing anyone could be informing the enemy and lead us into a hopeless situation.”

Helen Wilson had thought that gathering enough evidence would enable them to take down the smuggling ring in one fell swoop, but only now did she realize it wasn’t as simple as she had imagined.

Although she had anticipated so difficulties, comparing expectation to reality was like comparing a small crow to a large one.

She was truly at a loss, unsure of what to do next.

Jas Brown, who had not had much interaction with local affairs, was equally surprised by the complexity of the situation.

He had thought he could easily help Helen Wilson resolve the matter with his abilities, but it now seed necessary to enlist so other forces.

The most direct solution now was to seek assistance from Lucy Campbell.

As long as they handed the materials over to Lucy Campbell, no one in YODC City could touch her, and regardless of how powerful the backing was, Lucy Campbell could take them down.

Picking up the phone, Jas Brown dialed Lucy Campbell’s number without ntioning her na, and simply said, “There’s another matter I need your help with now.”

Lucy Campbell’s reply was brief, “What do you need to do?”

“I have in my possession important evidence regarding YODC City’s smuggling ring, but investigating this smuggling group is bound to implicate so important figures in YODC City.

Right now, the police and the smuggling group are pursuing , Helen Wilson, and Emily Jenkins.”

“Where are you now?

I’m coming to et you.”

“I’m on the road, but there are already police cars chasing us.

We’ve just hijacked a police van to escape.”

Lucy Campbell couldn’t help but chuckle, saying, “That’s your old specialty, on the run again.”

“Yes, I’m about to hand the important evidence over to you, and then with a little pressure from you, we’ll be able to get out.”

“Alright, choose a location, and I’ll send soone to et you.”

Jas Brown quickly replied, “I’m on N Avenue now.

Have soone in a Porsche et on Y Avenue.

I’ll toss the stuff into your car when I get there.”

“Fine, keep them at bay for now.”

Lucy Campbell hung up the phone, her lips curled in a faint smile, filled with longing.

She was really looking forward to experiencing that thrill of escape with Jas Brown once more.

As for worrying about him?

Not a bit.

Jas Brown had protected her safely through countless deadly pursuits by hitn, what harm could a smuggling ring and a bunch of ordinary cops do to Jas Brown?
