23: Chapter 23: Endless 23: Chapter 23: Endless After a mont of silence, Gina Lopez said, “Jas Brown, I believe you’re a capable person.

When you return to the company, you can co work at my company.

What job would you like?”

Jas Brown knew that Gina Lopez was offering him a job because she was afraid he might do sothing to her.

Sharing a bed with a beautiful woman like Gina Lopez was indeed a test for Jas Brown, but it was a test he could resist.

In the past, Jas Brown had undertaken many assignnts at the national secret level, which required a lot of training to ensure that if they were ever captured, they would not divulge any secrets.

Training to resist seduction was essential, otherwise, at the re lure from a beautiful woman, they wouldn’t recognize even their own fathers, let alone qualify as top-notch secret agents.

When it ca to beautiful won, he wasn’t completely unaffected, but he always remained vigilant internally.

The kind of mishap where one is blinded by desire absolutely would not happen to Jas Brown.

Now, even though he was back in the city and starting to lead a normal life again, the training Jas Brown had received still lived on in his body.

So even if he shared a bed with Gina Lopez, he could restrain himself from doing anything inappropriate.

But since Gina Lopez brought it up, how could she be assured if he didn’t agree with her?

“Boss Lopez, you’re not just saying this to appease , are you?”

Gina Lopez quickly responded, “I didn’t know much about you before, but based on your performance these past few days, I think you’re truly talented.

If you could unleash more energy in my company, do you really want to be a security guard all your life?”

Jas Brown imdiately said with great excitent, “Of course, I don’t want to be a security guard.

In other people’s eyes, are security guards just inferior citizens?

Look at the people in the office buildings; none of them respect us and order us around.

If I have the chance to be a white-collar, I’d prefer that.

But as you know, I don’t even have an associate degree, can I work as a white-collar in your company?”

“Talent isn’t determined by degrees.

If you’re capable and motivated, then there’s absolutely no problem.”

“Alright, alright, since the boss herself has said so, it’d be foolish of to refuse.

It’s just…I really don’t know what I can do.”

Gina Lopez thought for a mont, then said, “I think two departnts would suit you, Marketing or Logistics.

Marketing is tough but pays more.

Logistics is also busy but doesn’t require going out much.

The choice is yours.”

Jas Brown didn’t hesitate and said, “Then I’ll go to Logistics.”

Gina Lopez felt sowhat disappointed; she had hoped that Jas Brown would choose Marketing as it was more challenging.

But now that he opted for Logistics, demonstrating his talents there would be harder.

However, her main concern now was to stabilize Jas Brown’s situation by making him feel the benefits she offered, thus ensuring he would consider these in his actions.

Gina Lopez had beco a boss and had achieved great results with a small subsidiary because she knew how to handle her employees.

If she couldn’t manage her team well, the company would never have succeeded.

People might dare to do anything if they have no hope, but once they have hope and expectations, they start to consider their actions more carefully.

Gina Lopez was using this psychology to now offer Jas Brown a benefit.

“So, good.

When we return, I’ll arrange for you to join our Logistics departnt.

What I, Gina Lopez, have promised will be kept, no false words.”

“Thank you, Boss Lopez.

Am I now also considered a white-collar?”

“Of course, you are.

If you want to switch departnts later, you can tell .

Though, I still think Marketing would be the best fit for you.

There you have more opportunities, higher commissions, and better chances for promotion.

However, in Logistics, it might be harder for you to get a raise or promotion.”

Jas Brown chuckled and said, “Thank you, Boss.

But I still have so self-awareness.

I’ve never been to college and only served as a soldier for a few days.

How could I smoothly handle custor issues?

So, I think Logistics is better for .”

“Logistics isn’t as easy as you think; it’s also quite demanding.”

“That’s still white-collar work, though, and most importantly, I can handle it.”

“Well then, you can start in Logistics.”

“Thank you, Boss.

Hehe, I’m going to be a white-collar too!” Jas Brown seed quite thrilled.

Gina was quite disdainful of Jas Brown; she believed a man without ambition, who didn’t grasp opportunities and was complacent rely because he beca a white-collar worker, had no potential for developnt.

“Let’s sleep.” After speaking, Gina rolled over, her back facing Jas Brown.

As for a man easily satisfied with his life, there shouldn’t be much to worry about.

Jas didn’t know when he fell asleep but was jolted awake by an ice-cold forehead; the single layer of blankets was no longer enough to keep warm.

Despite having an electric heating pad under the bed that made it quite warm, the temperature in the room had dropped significantly—a common occurrence in rural areas where heating was self-managed, causing overnight drops once the fire went out.

Those accustod to living there were used to it, but for soone accustod to heated buildings, it was uncomfortable.

Jas wasn’t bothered by the cold, but the temperature change instinctively woke him.

Just as he was about to fall asleep again, Gina moved closer to him.

By the starlight outside the window, Jas saw Gina curling up, clearly very cold.

Hesitating for a mont, Jas pulled over half of his quilt onto Gina’s, leaving himself with only half.

Gina soon felt more comfortable, her body relaxing.

With only half a quilt, Jas felt a draft but settled with it.

He closed his eyes, and after a while, fell asleep; he had experienced harsher conditions before and the warm electric mat under him only made it easier.

Jas woke up again, not due to the cold but because of the warmth.

He and Gina were under the sa quilt, now both covered with two layers and snuggling up to each other, naturally feeling warr.

At that mont, Gina was lying on her side facing him, an arm around his back and a leg entwined with his, sleeping soundly.

Despite both being fully clothed, holding such a beautiful woman made Jas’s mouth go dry, and he swallowed hard.

However, confronting the formidable Boss Lopez if anything improper happened was sothing he decidedly wanted to avoid.

Moreover, he could tell Gina was not a woman to take lightly; getting involved would only bring complications.

Though he aspired to live typically, the notion of being tied down by a woman wasn’t appealing, especially not soone as compelling yet untouchable as Gina.

So, taking a deep breath, he cald his restless heart and closed his eyes, drifting back into sleep.

When he woke up again, it was due to Gina’s cold gaze.

Jas didn’t imdiately open his eyes but rather assessed the situation, internally groaning at his predicant.

At that mont, Gina was lying on her back, only turning her face towards him while his hand happened to stretch under her neck, with the other arm around her shoulders and his leg firmly against hers.

It was no wonder Gina hadn’t left the bed even though she had awakened first—she was watching him.

The most critical issue being his hand extended under her collar; though it hadn’t touched anything inappropriate, it was certainly too close for comfort.

With her arms and legs pinned by him, she wasn’t just unable to get out of bed; she couldn’t even push him away, hence the murderous look in her eyes.

Contemplating how to explain their situation, Jas still feigned deep sleep.

After two minutes, he slightly moved and then slowly opened his eyes, his expression changing from vacant to panicked upon eting Gina’s gaze, as if stung by a scorpion, he clumsily unraveled himself and said, “Boss, I…

I…

How did I end up under the sa quilt as you?”

Gina didn’t respond, just kept staring intently at him.

Jas quickly sat up, still eting her gaze, and stuttered, “Boss, I really didn’t do it on purpose, I woke up once in the middle of the night…

saw you were cold, so I covered you with half my quilt…

Look, it’s just like this.

But I don’t know how it turned out this way later…

Boss, I really didn’t do it deliberately.”

Gina glanced at the quilt on her body, indeed, it was Jas’s blanket covering half of her side, making his account plausible.

“Boss, can I still co to your company?” Jas asked cautiously.

Gina fully believed Jas then, a minor character so concerned about his job wouldn’t dare assault her in the night; besides, from the condition of her body, she wasn’t violated.

However, the fact that she’d ended up under the sa quilt with Jas, and that his hand had been inside her garnt, still infuriated her.

With a “hmph,” Gina said, “When I, Gina Lopez, promise sothing, I never fail to deliver it.”

“Thank you, Boss.

Thank you so much.

You truly are magnanimous,” Jas responded gratefully, yet internally, he deeply regretted the entire ordeal.
