221: Chapter 222 Fearless Without a Background 221: Chapter 222 Fearless Without a Background “Joseph Smith, don’t you see how many reports of this kind of thing are all over the internet?

One misstep and if this gets out online, you’ll be in deep trouble.” Chris Smith could only earnestly persuade Joseph Smith, terrified that he would drag his mother into this.

Joseph Smith sneered disdainfully, “So what about the internet?

With one word from my dad, all the posts will be deleted.”

Chris Smith inwardly cursed Joseph Smith for his ignorance.

It’s true that the Public Security Bureau could delete posts, but once these posts are out there, before they are taken down, they’re bound to get caught by so reporters.

By then, if these reports spread, deleting posts would be futile.

If netizens start making a ruckus, even if it’s not enough to really have them locked up, it will at least cause them quite a headache.

But he saw no need to explain this to Joseph Smith because this guy simply wouldn’t listen.

So he said, “You stay here and wait for a bit; I’ll go have a word with them, see what their backgrounds are.

If they hold significant influence, then we’ll need to weigh our options.

If they are nobodies, then we can deal with them later to vent your anger.”

Joseph Smith might be a fool, but he understood the importance of connections.

What Chris Smith was doing was already giving him a lot of face.

It wasn’t possible for Chris Smith to do whatever he said.

After pacifying Joseph Smith, Chris Smith walked into the room with a police officer where Jas Brown and the others were.

After taking a seat, Chris Smith looked at Jas Brown and asked so basic questions about his na and age, then inquired, “Family relations.”

Jas Brown was quite familiar with the Public Security System and knew this wasn’t a question that should be asked.

He smiled lightly and said, “Do you really need to ask that?”

Chris Smith appeared slightly embarrassed, yet still kept a stern face and said, “Answer whatever you’re asked.”

Jas Brown calmly lit a cigarette and said, “No father, no mother, so no family relations to speak of.”

Chris Smith frowned at once; no parents ant no background.

But he still didn’t dare to take it lightly and asked, “Where do you work now?”

Jas Brown told the truth, “J Corporation.”

Chris Smith carefully recalled, in his mory, he was clear about the major companies in YODC City, and he had never heard of J Corporation, which ant it was likely a small company.

J Corporation was a new venture, not yet influential, so not many people knew about it.

Only so big shots in YODC City knew that J Corporation was looking to make big moves in YODC City.

Chris Smith was at a level where he wouldn’t possibly know this.

“What have you done previously?” Chris Smith, being truly thorough, asked another question.

Jas Brown smiled faintly and said, “After completing high school, I served in the military for six years.”

“High school graduate…

six years in the military…” Chris Smith felt more assured.

Going to the military after high school graduation, and only serving for six years before returning, ant that Jas Brown did not attend a military academy, but was just an ordinary soldier, at best a volunteer soldier for a few years.

The fighting skills were definitely honed in the army, his courage too, but this didn’t imply any substantial background for Jas Brown.

Slamming the table abruptly, Chris Smith stood up, glared at Jas Brown and shouted, “Jas Brown, you dare to beat soone up right in the police station, this is outrageous.

For the dignity of the law, I’m going to detain you right now.”

Chris Smith’s sudden show of authority was expected by Jas Brown, but it took Emma Campbell and Emily Jenkins completely by surprise; both were startled.

Jas Brown laughed mockingly, “Director John is really sothing, starting to get tough with as soon as he knows I don’t have any background.”

Caught out directly by Jas Brown, Director John’s face darkened, but now he had no worries about Jas Brown, and he was quite annoyed at being bluffed by Jas Brown earlier.

He said bitterly, “It seems I need to teach you the majesty of the law if you don’t recognize it.

Handcuff him!”

The police officer sitting beside Chris Smith suddenly stood up.

He had found Jas Brown intolerable for a while now; this was their turf, and they called the shots.

Having been intimidated by Jas Brown all along, they now finally had the chance to handcuff him and take charge, and the officer seed quite excited as he drew out handcuffs and advanced towards Jas Brown.

Emily Jenkins panicked, quickly positioned herself in front of Jas Brown, and said loudly, “You can’t handcuff him; we’ll just leave.”

Chris Smith snorted coldly, “I already told you to leave, but you didn’t.

Now you can’t go even if you want to.

Handcuff him!”

Emma Campbell, not as daring as Emily Jenkins, had turned pale with fright, clutching Jas Brown’s arm, stamring, “Big Brother Brown, what do we do?”

Jas Brown patted the back of Emma’s hand, then pulled Emily into a position behind him.

Blowing out a smoke ring, he said, “Director John, are you sure you want to handcuff ?”

Feeling that Jas Brown still remained so calm at this ti, Chris Smith felt a bit uneasy, as if Jas had strong backing.

It defied logic, yet Chris could not find anything in Jas’s background that should scare him.

This made him feel like he was seeing enemies in every shadow, and with growing irritation, he barked, “Cuff him.”

Without a word, the policeman went to grab Jas Brown’s arm, ready to handcuff him.

Jas Brown didn’t resist; instead, he held out his hands willingly for the policeman to cuff, which took the officer by surprise; it was almost too easy.

“Big Brother Brown!” Emily Jenkins and Emma Campbell both started shouting anxiously at that mont.

Jas Brown was their pillar, and now that he was being handcuffed, they suddenly had no idea what to do.

Jas Brown gave a faint smile and said, “Don’t worry, it’s nothing.”

Chris Smith gave a sinister smile and said, “No trouble at all, just wait and see.” Then he left with the policeman, closing the door behind him.

“John Friend, I asked around.

He’s just an employee of a company, served a few years in the military.

He doesn’t have any notable background.”

Joseph Smith said through gritted teeth, “I told you, this little bastard is nothing to be afraid of.

Director John, you’re being too cautious.

Did you cuff him?”

“He’s cuffed, but John Friend…”

Joseph Smith interrupted Director John harshly, “Good, good, I’m gonna handle him myself.

He dared to hit ; today, I must make him realize what happens when soone sses with Joseph Smith.”

In his own station, Joseph Smith, who wasn’t a police officer, wanted to deal with Jas Brown, which could spell trouble if word got out.

But then he thought of Joseph’s father and was no longer afraid.

If anything went wrong, his father would bear the brunt, so what was there to fear?

Still, he hastened to add, “John Friend, grab sothing to use, and don’t make it too obvious.”

Joseph Smith’s eyes lit up as he quickly said, “Good, good, that’s the way to enjoy it.”

In the room, Emma Campbell and Emily Jenkins, one on each side, were gripping Jas Brown’s arms.

To them, being handcuffed was as if the sky had fallen.

Emma was very worried, not knowing how to resolve the situation, while Emily now felt guilty, saying, “Big Brother Brown, I’m so sorry; this is all my fault for dragging you into this.”

Jas Brown chuckled and replied, “Don’t worry, they can’t do anything to .”

Emily, with tears in her eyes, said, “Big Brother Brown, don’t comfort .

You’re handcuffed now; what can you do?

Ah, you’re not planning to break out, are you?

That would be a big cri.

Even if we’re detained for a few days here, it’ll be fine once we get out, but if you use force, then you’ll be on the run forever.”

Jas Brown responded with a laugh, “What are you thinking?

Am I that stupid?

Even if I was good in a fight, I couldn’t just go on a rampage.

Don’t worry, in a short while, they will be begging us to get out.”

Emily Jenkins and Emma Campbell both looked at Jas Brown in surprise, their disbelief clear as they said, “Really?”

Jas Brown stated with utmost confidence, “Of course, it’s true.

Just wait and see.”

Seeing Jas Brown so confident, Emily Jenkins and Emma Campbell felt sowhat relieved.

But just then, the door was pushed open, and three n walked in.

Seeing these three, the hearts of Emma Campbell and Emily Jenkins sank instantly, because the n entering were not policen, but Joseph Smith’s people.

They were not police officers, yet they held police batons, their faces twisted into malevolent grins, clearly up to no good.

“What are you going to do?” Emily Jenkins quickly stood in front of Jas Brown and demanded loudly, while Emma Campbell said nothing, her body trembling, but she stood firm with Emily, blocking the trio.

Holding a baton in his right hand and tapping it lightly on the palm of his left, Joseph Smith let his gaze wander without restraint over the bodies of Emily Jenkins and Emma Campbell, a lewd smile on his face as he said, “Ladies, there’s no need to rush.

Rest assured, once I have dealt with this guy, I’ll take very good care of both of you.”

“Ptui!” Emily spat in disgust and angrily said, “This is a police station, you dare to ss around here?”

Joseph Smith and his two companions burst into laughter.

The guy behind him proudly said, “You know this is a police station, so you should know this is just like John Friend’s ho.

In his ho, he can do whatever he wants with you.

Ladies, I advise you to be wise and step aside.

Maybe John Friend will take good care of you afterward.

If you resist, and we have to force you, then you’ll really suffer.”

“Shaless!” Emily Jenkins and Emma Campbell shouted in unison, particularly Emma, who was inexperienced and had never encountered such brazen people, could hardly bear to hear such obscene words.

Joseph Smith laughed loudly and said, “Actually, I’m even more shaless in bed, you’ll know soon enough.

Guys, we are in for a treat today.

Let’s deal with the guy first, and you’ll get a piece of the girls too.” The other two were instantly excited, their eyes shining as they clapped their batons, and with a nacing laugh, started to close in on Jas Brown and the two won.
