160: Chapter 160: Fiery Eyes, Golden Gaze 160: Chapter 160: Fiery Eyes, Golden Gaze “Sarah, this is Mr.
Lopez’s twin sister, Emily Lopez, quite the troublemaker,” Jas Brown revealed Emily Lopez’s identity.
“Mr.
Lopez’s…
twin sister?” Sarah examined Emily again, and although there was no difference in look, Emily’s deanor seed more lively and her face was smiling, which was completely different from Gina Lopez’s seriousness.
“Sarah, right?
What do you need from my brother-in-law?” asked Emily with a smile.
“Brother-in-law…” Sarah repeated the term in her mind, understanding the point, and quickly proceeded formally, “I was asking Manager Johnson for two additional personnel in the logistics departnt.
I just calculated it, and our company is bigger than that of JYPP Region, so the staff I budgeted yesterday definitely falls short, which is my mistake.”
Since it was from the logistics departnt, Gina Lopez had appointed Sarah to set it up.
Sarah spoke so formally because she feared that Emily might think there was sothing between her and Jas Brown.
That would be terrible, as she admired Gina and secretly liked Jas.
Being kind-hearted, she wouldn’t ruin the relationship between Jas and Gina.
Rather, she genuinely wished the two could be together.
Jas nodded and asked, “You have the recruitnt request, right?”
“Yes, here are the requirents for the two additional people.”
Taking the docunts, Jas responded, “Okay, no problem then.
I’ll call the TV station later to add two more, and I’ll keep an eye out at the job market this weekend.”
“Alright, I’ll get going then,” Sarah said with a smile to Emily, “Miss Lopez, I’ll be leaving now, don’t want to bother you.”
Once Sarah had left, Emily imdiately pouted at Jas, “Brother-in-law, you really are quite popular with the ladies, aren’t you?”
“Why do you say that?” Jas asked with a smile.
“Humph, it’s obvious Sarah likes you.”
Jas was genuinely surprised and responded, “You could tell?”
“Of course, if she didn’t like you, why the need to act so formally?
Even if she were just a colleague, there’s no need to be that serious.
Clearly, she was afraid I might notice sothing, humph.”
Jas gave Emily a thumbs up, sincerely saying, “I truly admire you.”
Proudly tilting her head, Emily boasted, “Of course, I have keen eyes.
Co clean, what’s really going on between you and Sarah?”
“Nothing at all.
We’re just colleagues.
I’ve helped her a couple of tis, and she developed a bit of a crush.
But since she thought I was with your sister, she never ntioned it again.”
Emily proudly raised her head, “Good that she knows her place.”
“What do you an ‘knows her place’?” The door opened, and Gina Lopez walked in.
It always bothered Jas how Gina would enter his office without knocking.
Emily stuck out her tongue, “It’s nothing, just chatting with my brother-in-law.”
Gina approached Emily and demanded, “Who let you co here?”
Emily couldn’t stand Gina’s scolding tone, instantly retorting, “My legs are my own; I go where I wish, can you stop ?”
“I don’t care if you go sowhere else, but you can’t just show up at my company.”
“Why not?
I want to co, and it’s not like I ca to see you.
I ca to see my brother-in-law.”
Gina fud, “You being here could lead the employees to mistake you for , impacting my work.
Do you understand?”
Emily’s eyes flickered as she replied, “It wasn’t intentional.
I ca to help you and my brother-in-law, wasn’t I?”
“We don’t need your help; having you here is more of a hindrance.”
Suddenly turning towards Jas, Emily, brimming with mischief, said, “Then I’m here to apply for a job.
Brother-in-law, aren’t you the HR manager?
Hire , hehe.”
Jas, not wanting to escalate matters, smiled and said, “Emily, stop joking around.”
But Emily was serious, “While I’m here, I need a job.
I think this company is just right, so I want to work here.”
Gina quickly stepped in front of Emily, angrily asserting, “No, I am the general manager here, and if I say no, then no.”
Emily smirked, “My brother-in-law is the president though; is a general manager bigger than a president?”
Gina was speechless.
She really shouldn’t have disclosed such matters at ho, letting Emily know what position Jas held in the company.
Emily Lopez slipped past Gina Lopez and grabbed Jas Brown’s arm, giving it a gentle shake, and with a pout pleaded, “Brother-in-law, please agree to my request, I promise to work hard here.
Otherwise, let be your secretary.”
Jas Brown was truly amused by the situation and said, “Sandra, stop ssing around.
Your sister is right, you really can’t work in the company; it would truly disrupt our operation.
Didn’t I promise to find you a dance teacher?
In a couple of days, I’ll contact her and take you to et her, how does that sound?”
Emily’s eyes lit up imdiately, and she turned to Gina, smugly saying, “It’s only because I respect you, brother-in-law, otherwise I’d stubbornly work here.”
Gina glared at her sister annoyedly and said, “Have you caused enough trouble?
Isn’t it ti to leave?”
“I’ll leave when I want to, no need for you to rush ; I still have things to discuss with my brother-in-law.”
Gina, irritated, wanted to drag Emily away, but Jas Brown quickly shot her a look.
Gina hesitated, realizing the negative impact it might have, and could only say to Jas, “Please send her away quickly, don’t let her create more chaos here.”
Jas Brown chuckled, thinking it was amusing since Emily was Gina’s sister, and yet here he was being asked to send her away, what a situation.
None of them noticed that Emily still referred to Jas as “brother-in-law.” Jas found it comfortable to hear, and Gina didn’t seem to mind at all; it was as if they were all too used to the title.
Once Gina left, Emily scoffed and said, “Ah, it’s tough; my big sister’s temper is so stern, I wish she could change it.”
Jas laughed and replied, “Well, you’ve managed to drive your sister away with your antics.
Having a sister like you must surely give her a headache.”
Emily winked at Jas and teased, “Ah, brother-in-law, you really do side with my sister, huh?
Did you say you don’t like her?”
Jas playfully tapped Emily on the head, “I’m just being reasonable.
Does that an I like her?”
“If you like her, you like her.
Anyway, I do hope you can ta her soday, make her behave, so she stops nagging .”
Jas laughed heartily and said, “Then you might as well sell your sister to ; she’s really quite pitiful.”
The two joked around for a while longer, and Jas, noticing the ti, ntioned he had a date and suggested Emily leave first.
Emily agreed readily this ti.
Jas went to a mid-range restaurant near the television station, sat in a private room, and waited for lody Yoody.
It was almost one o’clock when lody hurried in.
“I was recording an interview today, and it ran over, so I’m late,” lody said apologetically as she entered and sat next to Jas.
Jas smiled and said, “You must be starving.
I’ll have the waiter serve the food imdiately.”
“I’m famished,” lody said, tossing her bag onto a nearby vacant seat and deftly removing her light jacket, revealing a refined shirt underneath.
Watching lody’s lively actions, Jas’s gaze stayed fixed on her.
lody turned to et his intense gaze, her face flushing slightly as she teasingly asked, “What are you staring at?
Haven’t you seen a beautiful woman before?”
Jas nodded and replied, “It’s been many years since I’ve seen you, so naturally, I can’t get enough now.”
lody playfully hit Jas, “Wow, all these years apart, and I see your sweet talk has really smoothed out; you’ve gotten much better at flattering.”
Jas smiled tenderly, “Yes, I didn’t use to be good at sweet-talking you, always making you angry.
But now I’m ready to make it up to you.”
“Well, you’re smarter now, not letting all these years go to waste when I’ve been thinking about you.”
At that mont, lody’s tone was just like it had been in high school, and Jas no longer felt any distance between them.
Perhaps as the Mayor, lody had to maintain a certain authoritative aura in front of others, which subtly influenced how she interacted with Jas, but at her core, she was still the sa lody Yoody.
Food was served promptly, and Jas asked, “Do you want so wine?”
“I can’t drink now; I have another eting this afternoon.
I squeezed in so ti just to have lunch with you.”
Jas nodded, “Then let’s just enjoy our al.”
lody gave Jas a radiant smile and started eating.
lody didn’t eat much, finishing just half a bowl of rice before feeling full and then drinking so tea.
She looked at Jas and asked, “Jas, why aren’t you eating more?”
Jas t lody’s gaze and gently took her slim hand, which felt just as tender as it did when they were in high school, and softly said, “lody, seeing you fills up.”
lody looked bewildered, “Are you saying just seeing fills you up with air?”
Jas slowly leaned toward lody’s face and explained, “I’ve been saving my appetite to ‘eat’ sothing from you that I haven’t had in years; I really want to taste it.”
lody playfully spat at Jas, “You’re still so naughty.” But she made no move to dodge, instead puckering up and leaning in to et Jas’s lips.
