Yu Siqiao’s heart was completely filled by his beloved daughter’s words. He willingly supported her as she reached above his head, grasping at leaves and butterflies, occasionally interacting with Yu ngng, her voice so crisp that it lted hearts.
Beside him, Mo Shu said, "Honey, why don’t you play with our son too? Look, he’s only able to play with toys here."
Yu Siqiao looked slightly disdainful and said, "A real man, yet still needs soone to play with him—can’t he be a bit more independent!"
His son puffed his cheeks, feeling wronged, and said, "But Dad, I’m the sa age as Sister!"
"Sister is a girl and naturally needs protection. As her brother, you should protect her more, play with her more, and let her have her way more often, understand?"
His son seed even more aggrieved and murmured, "Okay."
Mo Shu, feeling sorry for him, picked up her son and said, "Don’t mind Daddy, Mommy will play with you."
Her son amiably started playing with Mo Shu, while Yu Siqiao’s daughter, overhead, was overjoyed and soon climbed down, leading her brother to pluck grass.
Yu Siqiao said, pleased, "Girls really are sensible. Why couldn’t we have just had two girls instead of one of each?"
Suddenly, Mo Shu laughed. She didn’t make a sound, her laughter constrained; but as she laughed, Yu Siqiao noticed the ground shaking.
Yu Siqiao stood up alard and exclaid, "An earthquake!"
He lunged toward his children, wanting to shield both his son and daughter in his arms, but before he could reach them, the ground cracked open.
As he fell through the fissure, Yu Siqiao was filled with confusion: why could such a vast plain crack open so drastically—wasn’t this geological movent too capricious?
Before he could figure it out, Yu Siqiao woke up.
When he ca to, Mo Shu was already up.
She leisurely leaned back, drinking water and looking over at him.
Seeing that Yu Siqiao was awake, Mo Shu put down her water glass, her hand resting on her lower back, and asked, "Are you awake?"
Yu Siqiao was a bit gloomy, "Why did you get up?"
Mo Shu could hardly suppress her smile and said, "I had a dream."
Yu Siqiao grew gloomier, "I had a dream too."
Mo Shu couldn’t help but feel amused and slowly climbed back into bed, asking, "What did you dream about?"
Yu Siqiao scratched his head and answered, "I dread we were on a family picnic and then there was an earthquake."
"A family of four?" Mo Shu almost laughed out loud again, "In your family of four, was the baby a boy or a girl?"
Yu Siqiao sighed, "One of each."
"Ah," Mo Shu’s eyes sparkled with unrestrained amusent, "I just dread that... hahaha..."
She started laughing before she could speak.
Seeing her like this, Yu Siqiao sensed sothing was off and asked again, "What did you dream about?"
"I dread that ngng bumped into , and then the baby just ca out."
Yu Siqiao’s heart lurched, "And you can still laugh about it?"
"I..." Mo Shu tried to speak, but as she laughed, tears ca forth; after a pause, she said, "It wasn’t as grueso as you think, just a sudden bump and the baby was born. Then they chased after calling ’Mom,’ and you jumped in, asking if they were boys or girls..."
Yu Siqiao felt an ominous premonition.
