"Ji Nan, see the guest out."
"Yes," Ji Nan nodded and looked toward Qin Yuan, who seed like she had sothing to say but was hesitating, "Please, Mrs. Qin."
Qin Yuan hesitated for a long ti before finally saying, "Do you still rember telling you that your father had prepared a dowry for you?"
Mo Shu rembered.
That particular night, Qin Yuan had made a point of stopping her to tell her about the abortion Sha Ling had forced on her years ago, a mix of truth and lies.
Mo Shu smiled at her without a word.
Qin Yuan said, "He truly did prepare it for you... Actually, you should be nicer to him, he is, after all, your father."
"I understand, Aunt Qin."
Qin Yuan hesitated for a mont, then said, "You should get so sleep early, good night."
"Good night."
Qin Yuan turned and went out. Upon returning to her room, she saw Mo Jiantao sitting on the bed, lost in thought.
Seeing her co in, Mo Jiantao’s gaze focused again, and he sighed, "In the blink of an eye, my daughter is about to get married, and during this ti, I truly feel that I’ve gotten old."
Qin Yuan sat down beside him, "Mo Shu has grown up and the day for her to marry was always going to co. When Sha Ling married you, she was this age too, wasn’t she?"
ntioning Sha Ling brought a look of disgust to Mo Jiantao’s eyes, "That woman was shaless. If she hadn’t co to pregnant, I never would have married her!"
A light flashed in Qin Yuan’s eyes as she lowered her gaze and leaned against his chest, "If it wasn’t for Sha Ling back then, we wouldn’t have ended up like this..."
It was that woman, Sha Ling, who had claid Mo Jiantao as her own, using her wealth and power to oppress everyone else.
Mo Jiantao, looking ahead, suddenly said, "Mo Shu’s luck is still a bit better than Sha Ling’s."
Qin Yuan looked up at him, not imdiately grasping what he ant.
Mo Jiantao said, "At least she didn’t end up with a man like ."
Qin Yuan was stunned for a mont, then she lowered her eyelids, deep in thought.

After Qin Yuan and Mo Jiantao left, Mo Shu asked Ji Nan to open the small box that Mo Jiantao had thrown to her just before.
The box was small, only the size of a palm.
Pulling off the ribbon, inside was a picture fra.
Ji Nan was surprised to see the photo and then looked down at Mo Shu, saying, "Princess, take a look."
Mo Shu was also startled upon seeing the photo.
It was a family portrait.
In the photo were Grandpa Mo and the late Grandma Mo.
The elderly couple were seated in chairs, with a little girl who looked to be only one or two years old in their arms.
The little girl had her hair done in two small ponytails, round-faced and rosy-cheeked, beaming with joy looking forward.
Standing behind the couple was a younger couple, embracing each other.
It was a young Sha Ling and Mo Jiantao.
Mo Jiantao had a smile on his face, and Sha Ling was also smiling, a genuine smile that seed to radiate from her eyes.
This was a photo Mo Shu had never seen before.
Under that fra, there was another photo.
A small Mo Shu, looking to be three years old, sat atop Mo Jiantao’s head, her chubby little face all smiles and her little chubby hands being held, looking very happy.
Mo Jiantao was still young, sitting on the grass supporting his daughter, his own smile bright.
It was still the sa person, but it felt like several centuries had passed.
As Mo Shu looked at these two photos she had never seen before, she suddenly felt at peace.
So, the Mo Family had once been whole.
But when had it all started to change?
