"The thing I wanted most in the past now seems to be within my reach, but it is no longer what I desire," Qin Haowen said to Su Yanyi in front of him, his tone filled with sorrow.
"People always change," Su Yanyi was not the kind of person to offer a shoulder to cry on; her icy tone was far from comforting.
However, her words were extrely true, at least Qin Haowen nodded in agreent, admitting, "Yes, people do change. I’ve changed so much I barely recognize myself."
"What, do you regret it?" In the office, where only Su Yanyi and Qin Haowen were present, many matters regarding the Qin family were not sothing Su Yanyi wished Qin Jiran to know or see.
"No, but having such an outco makes feel that my past self was even more foolish. I used to fight and scramble for attention, filled with unwillingness, anger, blaming the heavens and the earth, wallowing in self-pity, all just to draw his gaze to more. Yet, back then, no matter what I did, it was all in vain, and often, it backfired. I never would have thought that I could gain these things through such ans. I find it absurdly laughable," Qin Haowen said.
Qin Haowen truly found himself ridiculous, desiring sothing but unable to have it, and now that he had it, it was through false pretenses. It turned out that sotis, genuine feelings were less effective than lies!
"Don’t be too extre," Su Yanyi said. Given the two percent of the shares at stake, she was in a good mood and didn’t drive Qin Haowen away, instead uttering a few more words than usual.
"Am I the one being extre? I always thought it was the society that was too extre. I wasn’t extre enough before, hence I couldn’t adapt. Now, being extre, I managed to adapt," Qin Haowen self-mockingly said. But there was much sincerity in his words. Wasn’t that the reality?
"Perhaps." The world is so vast, what does it not contain? Thoughts are so complex, what is truly right? Extremism varies from person to person, thought Su Yanyi, who was herself quite unconventional, so naturally, she wouldn’t find other people’s thoughts abnormal; she believed everyone was different.
Su Yanyi was always distant, and this was not Qin Haowen’s first encounter with her. In the past, he perceived it as genuine indifference, but now he suddenly felt differently, which cald so of his agitated and sorrowful emotions. It was indeed an astonishing result.
"President Su, my complaints must have annoyed you," Qin Haowen said, collecting his emotions and speaking sowhat sheepishly.
"Two percent of the shares are worth it," Su Yanyi replied bluntly, without sugar-coating her words.
"Heh, President Su is so pragmatic, it’s a bit disappointing," Qin Haowen deliberately spoke in a tone of disappointnt, yet his expression was quite normal. He seed much more relaxed, as if chatting with a friend, his sadness gone.
It had to be said that Qin Haowen at this mont was much more mature than he used to be. Perhaps this is the significance of the gains and losses one experiences after life-altering events. It was unclear how Qin Haowen asured these gains and losses, but considering the profound changes he had undergone, both physically and ntally, he must have lost more, it seed.
"Your current mindset isn’t bad," Su Yanyi remarked, looking up from her docunts to glance at Qin Haowen, giving him a candid complint.
Qin Haowen was startled, then smiled wryly, saying, "If my mindset weren’t good, I would have died long ago." With his current physical condition, there were tis he truly felt like dying. However, it was the desire for revenge that kept him going. He didn’t regret holding on. Better to cling to life, for only by living could he witness more things unfold.
