Qin Jiran thought of Wang Zhilin, and his expression soured. The Wang family had repeatedly troubled him and Yanyi, which was truly annoying. Thankfully, he had almost finished collecting information on the Wang family. If they continued to create trouble without knowing better, they shouldn’t bla him for being ruthless.
Every wealthy family has its secrets and dark history, and the Wang family, with its significant heritage, was full of secrets that couldn’t withstand scrutiny. Nowadays, the Wangs are quite arrogant, handling their affairs without any reserve or caution. They have left traces everywhere, exposed for others to discover. Qin Jiran had already started investigating the Wang family when Su Yanyi told him Wang Zhilin was a bad person. The evidence he held was enough to keep the Wang family busy handling the aftermath if released.
However, Qin Jiran clearly had no intention of doing so, mainly for two reasons. One was the relationship between the Wang and Su families. Although Big Brother Su and Wang Zhirou had divorced, whether it was emotional ties or the grudges between the families, Qin Jiran wasn’t the right person to act against the Wang family. The other reason was that the evidence he held, while sufficient to cause great trouble for the Wangs, wasn’t enough to completely ruin them. Eliminating the problem without removing the root wasn’t his style. If he were to act, he’d wait for an opportunity to ensure the Wang family could never recover.
"Jiran? Are you listening to ?" Without a definitive response, Zhao Lingyu asked with a touch of urgency.
"Yes." It’s not that he wasn’t listening, but should he go or not? Qin Jiran anticipated that there was over a ninety percent chance he would encounter that woman, Wang Zhilin, should he attend. He had promised Yanyi that he wouldn’t have any more contact with Wang Zhilin.
"So, do you agree or not? Everyone is waiting for you. Please don’t really reject the invitation. Ahem, of course, everyone is more looking forward to you bringing your wife. Everybody saw the reports; your wife is no ordinary person, and we would love to et her," Zhao Lingyu said with genuine envy. Su Yanyi was beautiful, ca from an influential family, and was competent. More importantly, she seed to love Qin Jiran very much. For a man to have such a wife was an incredible blessing.
When he heard the invitation extended to Su Yanyi to attend as well, Qin Jiran was initially set to refuse and nearly swallowed his words but then his eyes brightened slightly, and his expression shifted.
He hadn’t attended such an event with Su Yanyi, especially in front of his friends. He was truly looking forward to it, but would Su Yanyi agree?
The prospect of being surrounded by a crowd, onlookers curious as if they were rare animals, or the sa crowd teasing about his relationship with Su Yanyi, made Qin Jiran’s expression change. The anticipation wasn’t so strong anymore. He himself didn’t care, but he didn’t want Yanyi to be unhappy because of it.
Su Yanyi was always low-key, rarely attending even her own class reunions. Realizing this, Qin Jiran held little hope she would agree.
"I’m quite busy recently. The new movie is about to start shooting." In the end, Qin Jiran decided to refuse the invitation.
"No way, you’re really saying no? Boss, can I call you boss? You’re not reluctant to bring your wife out for us to see, are you? I bragged to the guys that I’d definitely get you to co. If you don’t, they’re going to eat alive!" Zhao Lingyu exaggeratedly cried out, his tone filled with despair, making Qin Jiran frown.
"Aren’t you afraid eating you would cause diarrhea?"
"Wow, Boss, you can make cold jokes now? Is this the result of your wife’s training? Impressive!" Zhao Lingyu didn’t care about Qin Jiran’s disdainful tone; instead, he teased him in a rascally manner.
Qin Jiran raised his eyebrow upon hearing this, and unbidden thoughts of Su Yanyi’s expression when she made jokes in front of him ca to mind, that cute deanor made him want to laugh just thinking about it.
"I’ll try to attend, if not, we’ll et another ti. There are just too many people at the reunion," Qin Jiran explained briefly, deftly avoiding the topic of Su Yanyi.
"If you do co, make sure to bring your wife. I know this gathering is a bit crowded, probably why you don’t want to co, but everyone really wants to see you, so I had to ask..."
After they chatted a bit more, they hung up the call. Before Qin Jiran could call Su Yanyi, her call ca through.
"Why couldn’t I get through? Who were you on the phone with?" Su Yanyi’s tone carried a slight displeasure, but it was not ant as an inquiry. She had tried calling several tis before getting through and was sowhat unhappy.
"A classmate called . I was actually planning to call you. It’s getting late, have you had dinner?" Qin Jiran explained hurriedly, listening to the unhappiness in Su Yanyi’s voice, yet feeling a touch of sweetness as if he were a husband cared for by his wife. It was a wonderful feeling.
Many n dislike when won check in and interrogate, but little do they know, it’s this caring that drives the questions. If she didn’t care, why would she mind what you’re up to?
"Classmate? Wang Zhilin?" Initially, she didn’t an to ask, but upon hearing ’classmate,’ Su Yanyi imdiately grew more discontent. Was that woman still not giving up? Even without divorcing Qin Jiran, she was always trying to get in touch with him, which was truly abhorrent!
"It’s not her, it’s a roommate, nad Zhao Lingyu. However, he wanted to attend a class reunion. I suspected Wang Zhilin would likely go, so I declined," Qin Jiran answered honestly. Now that the topic had co up, it was important to clarify to avoid any misunderstandings with Yanyi.
Su Yanyi narrowed her eyes on the other end, a cold light flashing, and to Qin Jiran’s surprise, she declared, "If they’re inviting you, you should go. Why avoid it just because she’s going? It’s as if you’re afraid of her. I’ll accompany you. Let’s see if she still dares to covet you!"
Dominant Su Yanyi wasn’t used to backing down; avoidance wasn’t her style. The social circles in City A were limited; were they supposed to stay away from any event Wang Zhilin attended? Absurd!
Stunned by Su Yanyi’s authoritative tone laced with anger and chill, Qin Jiran soon showed a silent smile of joy. He was so looking forward to attending the reunion with Su Yanyi; he had thought she would be reluctant. Unexpectedly, she proposed the idea herself. How could he possibly refuse now?
"Good, I’ll tell him right away!"
