For breakfast, Qin Jiran specially made two types of dim sum for Su Yanyi, and also prepared a lunchbox for her to take to the company. Ever since Su Yanyi ntioned that she liked dim sum, Qin Jiran had been taking ti to learn to make them, but he was truly busy. By now, he had only learned to make three or four kinds, yet he would often make them for Su Yanyi to enjoy.
While Su Yanyi happily took the dim sum to the company, unfortunate news occurred. Kang Zhong called to inform her that two dia outlets had reported on Su Yanyi and Qin Jiran, with roughly the sa content. They claid Su Yanyi got into a sham marriage to gain freedom, and Qin Jiran would stop at nothing for a higher position. All the information was defamatory towards both Su Yanyi and Qin Jiran. The two dia outlets were rivals of Dragon dia. Although neither could compare with Dragon dia alone, combined, they were capable of contending with it. This was why such news was released, catching Su Yanyi and the Su family off guard.
Upon hearing the news, Su Yanyi imdiately knew who was behind it. Other than the Wang Family, no one else would spread such rumors.
"President Su, I’ve already initiated so counter-asures and warned other dia not to spread the news. However, since the opposition is also mainstream dia, the ssage has already been seen by many," Kang Zhong said with clear dissatisfaction. He didn’t know about Su Yanyi and Qin Jiran’s contract marriage but was aware that there had been so issues between them. It seed that only recently things had started to improve between the two, which made this annoying issue quite ill-tid for Kang Zhong, who had always hoped for Su Yanyi and Qin Jiran to be happy.
The Wang Family really knows how to be obnoxious!
"Are there reporters downstairs at the company?" Su Yanyi asked after pondering for a mont, her expression fairly calm. The Wang Family’s actions didn’t surprise her; in fact, she’d be disappointed if they didn’t do anything. Wasn’t a ga all about give and take?
It’s just that the Wang Family’s approach was so uninspired. The Su family used the dia to sling mud at the Wang Family, and now they were doing the sa. It really left Su Yanyi feeling quite unimpressed.
"Yes, want to chase them away?" Kang Zhong was sowhat helpless about the omnipresent reporters.
"No need, I’m on my way." The Wang Family constantly targeting her marriage with Qin Jiran had started to irritate Su Yanyi.
After hanging up the phone, Su Yanyi called Qin Jiran. He was furrowing his brows as he read various opinions online and had asked Jiang Xiaobin to take so actions. However, as Kang Zhong said, it was not easy to cover up reports from mainstream dia. The news about him and Su Yanyi was spreading wider and wider. He wasn’t concerned about his reputation but feared it would embarrass Su Yanyi because of him. After all, if it weren’t for his status as a celebrity, the matter would not have drawn so much public interest.
Qin Jiran was contemplating whether to release the information he had uncovered about Wang Zhilin now when Su Yanyi’s call ca in.
"Yanyi, I’ll resolve this matter quickly and won’t let it affect you," Qin Jiran had already decided to co forward to explain and to release the information about Wang Zhilin and the Wang Family. The public is forgetful, after all; such rumors, without evidence, would soon dissipate.
"How do you plan to resolve it?" Su Yanyi was sowhat curious.
Qin Jiran didn’t hide his intentions and shared his thoughts with Su Yanyi.
"I’ll explain to the public, uh, if you don’t object, I’ll say that I pursued you. Then I’ll release so information about the Wang Family. By then, not as many people will care about our news." Or to put it another way, even if they did, not all the comnts would be negative. What Qin Jiran left unsaid was that if he openly claid he actively pursued Su Yanyi, public opinion might turn to speculate whether he sought her out for his own advancent. Sure, Su Yanyi might be cleared, but he would be accused of complicating matters even more.
In many cases, the best response to such scandals is to remain silent, but Qin Jiran just couldn’t stand to see Su Yanyi aggrieved. He wanted to shoulder everything himself. His reputation, compared to Su Yanyi’s, was essentially negligible, at least to him.
Su Yanyi could clearly understand the significance and possible outcos of Qin Jiran’s words. She felt a flash of anger yet also a touch of warmth—angry that she, Su Yanyi, required soone to sacrifice themselves for her protection, and ward by the fact that soone was willing to protect her at their own sacrifice.
Qin Jiran, oh Qin Jiran, two lifetis together and you’re still this foolish.
In her previous life, whenever Su Yanyi was bored, she wondered what drove this man. It was understandable when she was doing well—intelligent, beautiful, with a good family background. It was normal for him to like her, but she had beco a vegetative patient, her face pallid, increasingly haggard. She estimated that even she wouldn’t want to see herself like that, yet this man treated her like a treasure, caring for her with more ticulous attention than even her own family, making it sothing she couldn’t help but rember often in this life.
"You don’t have to do that. Co to the company as soon as possible. I’ll wait for you outside, and we’ll solve this together," Su Yanyi’s voice was slightly deep, yet her firm tone hid her moved and uncomfortable feelings, preventing Qin Jiran from detecting them.
At that mont, Su Yanyi suddenly thought of a saying: So people are selfish because they want others to be good to them, while so people are selfish because they prefer others not to be good to them. Su Yanyi felt she was the latter. When others were good to her, she felt obligated to reciprocate. Just like the connection between her past and present life—it was because this man was good to her in her past life that she constantly thought about being good to and protecting him in this life.
Qin Jiran wanted to say more, but the phone call had already ended. Mulling over Su Yanyi’s words "solve this together," a smile suddenly appeared on his face. Regardless of how Su Yanyi intended to resolve it, those four words pleased him greatly. At least it proved that in Su Yanyi’s heart, he and she were on the sa side. Their relationship had instantly upgraded from simple friends to comrades in revolution, and this change was surely for the better.
Having changed into a very smart silver-gray casual suit, Qin Jiran, as if heading to the battlefield, walked with a determined gait towards the woman he loved. Although he hoped to protect Su Yanyi, to shield her from storms, he also appreciated having Su Yanyi fight alongside him. It made him feel that the distance between them was closing, and it gave him more hope for their future!
If possible, he wished to stand with Su Yanyi forever, to never leave her side no matter the circumstance!
