Of course, the items up for auction here weren’t the kind that just any underworld figure could afford.
The auction rules for the second session were the sa as the first, with cash transactions only, and all starting bids were above one million US Dollars. However, the auctioneer had been switched out for an even more seductive young lady, whose flirtatious glances elicited countless howls from the audience.
"...The second auction now begins. Our first item up for bid is a batch of military weapons decommissioned by Country M’s army six months ago, including handguns, submachine guns, rifles, sniper rifles... The opening bid is eight million US Dollars, and each raise must be no less than two hundred thousand US Dollars..."
Qin Jiran listened to the introduction on stage and then glanced at Su Yanyi and the many mbers of the Dark One team, all displaying expressions of cool indifference. Suddenly, he felt that reality was more fantastical than making movies.
Arms were always the underworld’s favorite commodities. This batch of weapons quickly rose to sixteen million US Dollars—double the starting bid—and was still climbing, illustrating their popularity.
"Aren’t you interested in this?" Qin Jiran asked, looking at Su Yanyi’s aloof deanor and feeling puzzled. He thought that the Su family, being part of the underworld forces, would naturally need these things. And those up for auction seed like excellent items for a shooter, so why wasn’t Yanyi showing any intention to buy? Could it be that they had their own procurent channels?
In his mind, images of smuggling, arms tycoons, and international arms organizations swirled—activities that would make for an interesting film.
No sooner had he asked the question than he was t with strange looks from everyone, including Su Yanyi, as if to say, "Don’t you know about this?"
"Don’t you know? The Su family owns their own military factory. Anything we need, we can make ourselves," Su Yanyi replied, sowhat earnest in her own reflection, wondering if she had ever ntioned these matters in conversation with her father and brother.
This ti, Qin Jiran’s expression turned to one of genuine surprise. A military factory? Could that really be privately owned? He realized that private jets and tankers paled in comparison; the true sign of wealth was owning your own military factory!
"Does the factory make these?" Qin Jiran asked uncertainly, referring to the arms currently up for auction and, by extension, various types of firearms and ammunition.
"Of course," Su Yanyi replied with conviction. A military factory that couldn’t produce guns and ammunition might as well be called a toy factory.
"Can it make other things?" Qin Jiran beca even more curious. As a man, it was natural for him to be fascinated by weapons. He had always enjoyed shooting practice during his training at the base; now learning that the Su family had a military factory, he was eager to see it for himself—it promised to be far more interesting than watching animals fight!
"Of course!" Otherwise, how could it be considered a military factory? Su Yanyi found the man’s questions a bit too tedious but seeing the sparkle in his eyes made her realize he had a genuine interest in such matters.
Suddenly, Su Yanyi ca up with an idea for the next gift she would give him. Perhaps she could personally make a gun for him!
