Xiao Su Nuo then resud eating her dinner seriously. Although her movents were a bit clumsy, she didn’t make a terrible ss. Even if a grain of rice fell around the bowl, she would pick it up and eat it. However, her chubby little fingers often struggled to grasp the grains, making her furrow her little nose in annoyance—a truly adorable sight.
"Yanyi, Jiran," Mother Su changed the subject, "you’ve seen how cute Nuonuo is, don’t put off the urgent matters any longer. Hurry up so you can still play with Nuonuo. Otherwise, when she grows up a bit more, she won’t have ti to play with her little brother or sister." Mother Su’s tone shifted to another matter that was very close to her heart, one that would complete the other half of her life.
This is often the wish of parents: to see their children marry and have their own children, living happily. They feel their own lives are then complete.
"I don’t have such plans for the ti being." Su Yanyi replied indifferently, seemingly unwavering. Nuonuo may be cute, but that didn’t an she wanted to have a child herself.
Mother Su sighed inwardly, knowing that Yanyi was not going to fulfill her wish so easily. Yanyi might not be fond of children, but it seed that Jiran quite liked them. Mother Su thought it would be manageable for a year or two, but she was worried if Yanyi continued not wanting children, it might eventually affect their marriage.
Mother Su’s mind took several turns as she beca slightly worried, but she decided not to voice her concerns imdiately, choosing instead to talk to Yanyi about it later.
At that mont, Nuonuo excitedly asked, "Will Nuonuo get a little brother or sister?"
Seeing Nuonuo’s hopeful eyes made Grandma Su want to bla Yanyi—who could resist the idea of having a child for Nuonuo to play with!
"Do you like little brothers and sisters, Nuonuo?" Mother Su asked.
"Yes, they’re cute!" Su Nuo nodded vigorously. Being young and with her mother raising her alone, Su Nuo had always lacked playmates and naturally looked forward to having so.
"Then you’ll have to be extra nice to your little auntie. If she’s happy, maybe she’ll give you a little brother or sister." Mother Su teased, glancing at Su Yanyi, only to see her daughter remaining very calm.
"Can’t I have both?" Su Nuo tilted her head, appearing quite puzzled.
"Ah, Su Nuo wants a little brother and sister, huh? That’s not impossible—it all depends on your little auntie’s abilities." Mother Su actually liked the idea of twins of mixed sex as well—a boy and a girl, double the happiness.
Su Nuo sneaked another look at Su Yanyi, gathering courage before daring to speak, "Little auntie, can Nuonuo play with the little brother and sister?"
Upon hearing Su Nuo’s words, Mother Su imdiately laughed, and so did Old Master Su and Father Su, all wearing smiles. Only Su Yanyi remained expressionless, although there was a slight tension at the corners of her eyes.
A little brother and sister weren’t even in the picture yet, so how could they play together? Would she have to conjure them up to play with him?
Su Yanyi kept silent, and Xiao Su Nuo thought her wish had been denied. Her mood, which had just brightened, dimd once again, and her head drooped. Qin Jiran found this scene sowhat amusing and consoled her, saying, "Nuonuo, you’ll have to wait to play with the little brother and sister, because they haven’t been born yet."
