"That can work, I’ll invite representatives from both Su’s and Dragon dia to attend, but we’ll keep the ceremony simple and focus on the charity event—we don’t want to be too ostentatious," Su Yanyi agreed that the idea was good, but was mindful that while charitable foundation events are virtuous, they do not require excessive fanfare, as that could potentially twist good deeds into bad outcos.
"I understand," Ling Tianyue said, "We’re giving back to the community, so naturally, we don’t need to show off too much and avoid drawing the envy and spite of petty people—it would be troubleso to beco a target. However, speaking of which, there are quite a few petty people eyeing you right now. Do you need any help?" Ling Tianyue was clearly well-inford, and she was sowhat aware of the grudges between the Su family, Wang family, and the Qin family. With these families all making frequent moves, an air of impending storm seed to loom over City A, tension rising.
"No need, I can handle it," Su Yanyi insisted. Not to ntion the backing of the Su family, even on her own strength, she was more than capable of confronting these two powerful families—who lacked the wisdom they thought so highly of. Moreover, with her elder brother and Jiran supporting her, she was far from any danger. Why would she need help from others, which would be an underestimation of her capabilities?
"That’s true, President Su wouldn’t need help from a minor figure like ," Ling Tianyue said. "Actually, I was hoping to ask for a favor from President Su. I wonder if you’d be willing to help." Ling Tianyue was rely inquiring—she knew full well Su Yanyi’s capabilities and that Yanyi wouldn’t need her help. However, Ling Tianyue had sothing else in mind for which she wanted Yanyi’s assistance.
"Let’s hear it," Su Yanyi replied, her tone still cold but with a hint of interest. She was curious about what this woman might want from her, sensing sothing odd about the request.
"I have a business deal I’d like to discuss with the Bai Family, but I’ve had no prior contact with them, and it would be inappropriate to visit them outright. I was hoping you could act as an interdiary and join us for a al—how does that sound?" Businesspeople must utilize their connections, and everyone in City A knew that the Su’s had a good relationship with the Bai Family, so it made sense for her to ask Yanyi for help with the introduction.
"The Bai Family are businesspeople too. If you bring them a good deal, why would they refuse it?" Su Yanyi was skeptical of Ling Tianyue’s words. She knew that businesspeople like them were accustod to turning strangers into contacts, especially for major deals—if there’s profit to be had, there’s hardly a need for an interdiary.
"Ahem, well... The business cooperation is secondary. I mainly wish to get acquainted with the Bai Family, and there is so personal matter as well," Ling Tianyue suddenly seed a bit uncomfortable, her explanation veering off, and she did not clarify what the personal matter entailed.
Su Yanyi looked at Ling Tianyue with suspicion, thinking the woman’s sudden change of deanor was certainly peculiar.
"I think I shouldn’t get involved with your personal matters with the Bai Family since we’re not close," Su Yanyi responded. She wasn’t the kind of person to help anyone who ca asking, least of all soone who was evasive about their intentions. She didn’t want to risk letting the fox into the henhouse!
Su Yanyi still rembered how Ling Tianyue’s eyes lit with interest when she looked at Qin Jiran, and given her reputation, Yanyi was even more cautious.
While Su Yanyi and Ling Tianyue had a business partnership, and both capable won admired each other, admiration didn’t equate to a close relationship, nor did it an they were friends. It was always Ling Tianyue taking liberties with their familiarity.
In truth, Su Yanyi was sowhat aloof; she did have a asure of affection for this woman but found her unreliable. Business matters were one thing, but private matters required careful consideration.
