The mont these few people left the laboratory, the people began to walk out. No one called Anita. So of the people who used to be very close to her acted like they didn’t know her.
To be honest, Anita just felt a little sad. She didn’t expect that her seniors, who had been together with her for so long and who usually helped her on various projects while working overti and did experints together, would imdiately fall out with her because of one thing.
Owen had a busy day at the office too. He had left early the last two days to accompany Anita, so a lot of work had piled up.
He didn’t bother sending Anita a ssage to ask how the experint was going. When he finally finished, and it was past eight in the evening, he sat in his office and called Anita first. "Hey, Anita, are you ho?"
"Yes, I was about to go back. I just finished the experint," Anita said calmly.
Even though Anita hadn’t said anything, Owen felt that sothing was wrong. It was too quiet on Anita’s end.
He could only hear the sound of the laboratory equipnt and no one else talking. He felt that sothing was wrong. Normally, their laboratory would be very lively at this ti. Why was it so quiet today?
But since Anita didn’t say anything, Owen didn’t press her. He felt that everyone should have so space. If Anita wanted to tell him, he would listen.
"Okay, be careful on the way back. Take a taxi back and let know when you get ho," Owen instructed Anita carefully.
"Yes, I understand. Be safe when you get ho," Anita replied with a smile.
"Okay, I might go back later. I have sothing to do," Owen continued.
"It’s okay. Go ahead. I’ll hang up first. I’ll go back," Anita said with a smile.
"Yeah, okay," Owen replied quickly.
Anita waited until she hung up, then turned off the light in the laboratory and walked towards the school gate.
Everyone in the laboratory left early today. The people who usually worked overti at night didn’t work overti today.
Anita didn’t know what they ant. Was it because they didn’t want to stay in the sa laboratory with her? But no one would give her an answer now.
She hadn’t eaten dinner yet. When she reached ho, she looked through the fridge. There was leftover bread from yesterday inside. She placed it in the toaster and heated it up before returning to her room to wash up.
It was almost 11 o’clock when Owen finished his shift. When he reached ho, he found the house quiet, and only the small light in the living room was lit.
He gently changed his shoes, took off his jacket, and hung it on the hanger by the door before walking into the room. The door wasn’t locked. After Owen carefully pushed it open, he found Anita lying on the bed. The light in the room was off, and only a night light illuminated the way into the room.
Afraid that he would disturb Anita’s rest, Owen went back to his room and washed up before lying back on the bed.
"Anita, are you asleep?" Owen whispered.
After asking this, he waited for a long ti without getting any response. Finally, he confird that Anita was asleep, so he didn’t say anything else and turned around to sleep.
The next morning, the two of them woke up at almost the sa ti.
Neither of them had ti to talk last night. They didn’t have ti to talk before they went out this morning. Owen had wanted to ask about Anita’s experint when he went out to send her to school in the morning.
But every ti he asked, Anita would always brush it aside.
Owen knew that Anita probably didn’t want to talk too much about the experint, so he tactfully didn’t ask further.
"If the experint is too tiring, tell ," Owen said with a smile while looking at Anita, who had pushed open the door and gotten out of the car.
"Yeah, I understand. Don’t worry," Anita said to Owen with a smile in return.
Owen was relieved to see that Annie finally smiled.
Anita arrived at school quite early today, because she knew that she had missed quite a lot of experintal progress. If she joined the Columbia University exchange program in a few days, the experintal progress might lag even more.
She knew that no one would help her complete the experint in this situation, so she could only work as much overti as possible to catch up with everyone.
From afar, before she reached the laboratory, she could hear everyone discussing sothing. However, when she walked in, everyone suddenly stopped talking.
Anita tried hard to pretend that it didn’t matter. She hung her bag on the storage table and walked towards her experint table.
However, she didn’t expect that when she reached her laboratory table, she realized that the experint she worked overti on last night had been destroyed.
