At this mont, he started to hate his lack of eloquence. He was too stupid.
"Anita, what’s going on with the two luggages in the living room?" he asked as he turned around.
"Luggage? I’m going to England for a business trip." Anita glanced into the living room and turned to Owen.
"Business trip? You’re going to England? Why so sudden?" Owen asked anxiously when he heard Anita get louder.
"It’s not sudden. Didn’t I tell you that my ntor recomnded to join an exchange program with Columbia University? There’s an exchange eting in England next week. My ntor isn’t feeling well and can’t go over. He asked to attend in his place," Anita said without looking at Owen while cooking.
Owen thought that she was taking revenge on him for working overti the past few days, which was why she was going on a business trip.
"Is it because I’ve been working late these past few days? But didn’t I say that I’m really busy with work?" Owen paused and looked at Anita as he spoke.
"I already told you yesterday that I’m not going on a business trip because you’re busy with work." Anita tried to control her emotions.
"I won’t stop you if you’re going on a business trip, but why did you choose to go on a business trip at this ti? You didn’t even discuss it with ." Owen saw that Anita was unwilling to talk much and thought that she was avoiding him, so he said angrily.
"Owen, what are you talking about? Don’t you think you’re the one hiding from ? Why have you been working overti these past two days? You didn’t even have the ti to send off in the morning. Do you dare to say that you’re not hiding from ? Why are you hiding from ? You don’t even tell the reason." Anita couldn’t control herself when she heard Owen say this, and her tone wasn’t pleasant.
"I didn’t hide from you. I did it because... because..." Owen almost blurted it out on impulse. In the end, he controlled himself and didn’t say it.
Bruce’s findings on Eric had not been completely revealed. He didn’t want Anita to feel that he was a casual and untrustworthy person. He wanted to take out a concrete and detailed report and show Anita that Eric was really soone who was unworthy of her.
"Why did you say that?" Anita asked when she saw Owen stop midway.
"Can’t you tell why? Yet you say you aren’t hiding from ." Anita looked at Owen, paused, and then continued, "Owen, if you think we can’t continue this relationship, tell . I’m going on a business trip these few days. We’ll talk when I get back."
Her words were so harsh that Owen froze. "Anita, what do you an by that? Is that how casual our relationship is to you?"
"Owen, I didn’t an that. I just hope we both can calm down," Anita said as calmly as she could when she saw Owen’s attitude.
She didn’t want their relationship to worsen. Moreover, both of them weren’t in a good mood now. If they continued to speak, there was no telling how the conversation would go.
"Okay," was all Owen said. He turned and went back to his room to change.
After changing, he took his car key and left the house without even telling Anita.
Anita said nothing while watching Owen
She stood in the kitchen for a while, then turned around and poured the breakfast she had just prepared into the trash can before walking to her room.
As she walked, she thought about how she didn’t have to go on this business trip to England. Her ntor didn’t force her to go.
It was just that after the unpleasant call with Owen yesterday. She cald down and thought about it. She felt that both of them should separate and think about it carefully, so she called her ntor last night and said, "I want to go to England for this project and get to know more outstanding experts."
The ntor thought about it for a mont before saying, "Anita, have you thought about it? Are you sure you want to go to England?"
"Don’t worry, I’ve thought about it," Anita replied quickly.
"Okay, I’ll contact the project team. Soone will pick you up when you go over." The ntor stopped persuading her.
"Okay, thank you," Anita quickly replied politely when she saw that her ntor had agreed.
"Anita, tell , why are you suddenly going to England for a business trip? Didn’t I ask you to go a few tis before, but you weren’t willing to go?"
"Teacher, didn’t I have sothing on at that ti and couldn’t go? It’s convenient now. I also want to go out and study more," Anita replied while listening to her ntor.
She knew that her ntor was concerned about her, but she was unwilling to tell her ntor about her love life. This would only add to his worries.
