Chapter 661: Dinsional Isolation Barrier
"It's not over yet... There are still enemies out there..."
Hearing my words, Jack picks up and starts to move away from our current location. The allied forces are exhausted and a surprise attack here would spell our complete end. However, there shouldn't be a surprise attack here. There were plenty of opportunities to attack us before and since the enemy didn't, that ans that they must have committed all the forces they could in this place. So, the battle here is over. However, the war against the demons is not.
"Where are the remaining enemies? Where are they located?"
"I don't know... but they are still out there..."
I can't provide any evidence, but I can still feel their presence. Jack sighs in exasperation at my words.
"What should we do then?"
"We need to get out of here..."
"Is that okay?"
Jack mutters as he looks at the state of the allied forces. Many have died and of course, people from the empire as well.
"Save the sentintality for later..."
"But your father is..."
"I'm fine..."
I'm not fine. I'm worried sick about him and I want to rush to him and apply healing magic right away. My father is on the brink of death and I don't know if he'll survive.
But I can't afford to stop here.
"There are still enemies... I don't know what kind of enemies... but if it were , I wouldn't just leave the combined forces of the continent unchecked..."
While saying this, I opened a teleportation gate. It's not for long distances, just short ones. But that's all the strength I have left.
"If there's an ambush, wouldn't it be bad to leave them alone?"
"If the demons were going to ambush us, they would have done it by now... Besides, in their weakened state, attacking these forces would only get them counterattacked... If it were ... I'd seal us."
As I speak, a massive barrier begins to form around the capital of the Empire. There's no ti to talk, so I fall into the teleportation gate along with Jack.
"Seriously...?"
After exiting the teleportation gate, Jack mutters as he sees a super-giant barrier appearing around the capital. It completely envelops the capital and the allied forces, and then it disappears as if nothing was ever there. 𐍂ἁ₦ОᛒΕṣ
"It's a barrier that shifts dinsions... probably to prevent the allied forces from coming out... From this side, we can't see anything..."
"Hey! Is that okay?"
"It should be fine... With that much force, they should be able to break through eventually... though it will take so ti..."
The exhausted allied forces won't be able to co out imdiately. Knowing this, they had a trap set. If they are this ticulous, they wouldn't allow entry or exit even through teleportation.
"This ans that the demon summoning here and the gathering of the allied forces were all part of the plan... Soone set a trap while assuming that the demons would lose..."
"All that was... just a diversion?"
"It was an effective one... Well... The one who's really moving with what cos next isn't just them..."
It's a grand trap. The fact that they set a trap here ans that they planned to cause trouble within the kingdom and draw the allied forces inside. The scale of the barrier is too vast to have been prepared this quickly. So for them, even Asmodeus and the others were just pawns.
That implies the goal they're aiming for is also massive. As such, they're probably aiming for sothing as big as conquering the continent.
However...
"They're probably planning to finish everything before the allied forces can escape..."
"Finish what?"
"Consolidating their ground... If so many key figures are gone, the continent will be in chaos..."
In addition to the emperor and the elites of the empire, all the key figures from other various countries are also trapped. We know that we are trapped, but for those outside who are unaware of the battle situation, it would look like we all went missing after the war. It would be unreasonable not to expect chaos.
"They'll co out eventually, right? It's impossible to destroy all the nations in that short amount of ti..."
"Destruction isn't the only option. Taking over is another approach."
As I muttered that, I looked towards the direction of the empire. The emperor is missing, likely presud to be dead by the people and the pri candidate for the crown prince is also missing.
If that's the case, only one faction in the empire stands to gain from this.
"Even if the emperor or the crown prince candidates are alive, if soone seizes real power in their absence, they can take over the empire. If they can take over the empire, they can also control the continent... Normally it would be impossible, but soone in a position to do so is in the empire."
"The enemy is... the second prince?"
"It's highly likely... that he's involved."
We were supposed to clash with Erik's camp eventually. Since he's been set up as the final enemy, it seems that they're going through quite an elaborate charade.

Exhausted, I leaned back against a rock nearby and sat down. The current situation is quite different from what I initially anticipated. However, it’s still in a state where we can counter the enemy's plans.
"I'm tired... Gotta find sowhere to rest..."
"It's good to hear that you're tired. If you weren't, I'd start to doubt whether you are human... To be able to anticipate getting yourself assassinated, just what kind of mind do you have?"
As he mutters, Jack carries on his back. Then he starts walking slowly. Right now, rest is what I need.
Everything else can wait until after I've rested. Convincing myself of this, I close my eyes.
