Chapter 649: Destruction
A jet-black torrent was released, heading straight for the allied forces. To block it, the three-layered ritual barrier created by the Royal Mage Corps and the five-layered barrier crafted by Orihi stood in its way. The collision with the three-layered ritual barrier created by the Royal Mage Corps happened first. However, two of the three layers were breached in an instant.
"Ugh!"
The Royal Mage Corps exerted their full power to maintain the last layer, but the opponent's strength was far too great. The last third layer was effortlessly broken and the ritual barrier vanished. Then, Orihi's barrier received the jet-black torrent.
"Ha! Not bad at all!"
Even Orihi's barrier saw its first and second layers swiftly breached. But from there on, Orihi held her ground while aware she was the last bastion of defense for the allied force.
"I am the Celestial Princess… the continent's supre barrier user… If I let such an attack through… no one on this continent can stop it… The burden I carry is different… When it cos to defense, I will remain undefeated!!!"
Orihi finally repelled the jet-black torrent with the remaining three layers of the barrier. Cracks spread everywhere, but she still did not let it through until the last mont. And then...
"Hah, hah…"
Breathing heavily, Orihi managed to block Asmodeus's attack. However, the barrier she created was on the verge of collapse… It was a close call, but...
"Well done. But what about this?"
Asmodeus starts gathering even more power than before. Seeing this, a cry of agony rose from within the allied forces. A scream that signified their end was near. In response, Orihi declared,
"Do not panic!!! I am here!! As long as this Celestial Princess is here! No attack shall pass through!!"
Displaying even more barriers than before, six layers in total, Orihi made her voice heard. The opponent's attack was stronger than before. Even Orihi felt uncertain if it could be stopped. However...
"Ritual Barrier Magic!! Barrier of Celestial Might!!"
The Royal Mage Corps once again created a ritual barrier with three barrier layers. Though it seems unreliable compared to Orihi's, it was still a strong support for her.
"You guys…"
"We too… bear the na of the Adrasia Empire… As such, we won’t be able to face His Majesty if we are of no use…"
While saying this, the mages were bleeding from their mouths. They were already beyond their limits from the first attack and now they were creating a second ritual barrier. They were crafting the barrier at the cost of their lives.
"Then… let us go together."
"Let us accompany you."
Saying this, Orihi and the Royal Mage Corps prepared for Asmodeus's next attack.
The mont Asmodeus launched his attack, vibrations ran through the space. Cracks appeared everywhere, indicating the attack's impact on the entire world. Asmodeus muttered just one word.
"――Hakai." (TL: Author must have watched too much DBS and yes, I did edit this a bit lmao)
The previous black torrent was simply a normal attack. This ti, this attack was ant to be a finishing blow. A spiral black torrent headed towards the barriers erected by Orihi and her allies. The Royal Mage Corps' ritual barrier was shattered in an instant but it wasn't their barrier, which was a mimic of Orihi's that was fragile. Evidence of this was seen as four layers of Orihi's barrier were also broken in quick succession. The mages of the Royal Mage Corps fell one after another after spewing blood. If the barriers were broken here, their sacrifices would be in vain. Sensing the spark of life from the mages extinguishing, Orihi bit her lip till it bled and stretched her hands forward. Ŗᴀ𐌽𝙤ВĘⱾ
"Nothing shall pass beyond this point!"
With renewed determination, Orihi infused power into the barrier. The attack was incomparable to before. While on the verge of losing consciousness several tis over, Orihi still managed to maintain the barrier.
She couldn't push back and could only defend. She could only endure, yet Orihi continued to endure.
Eventually, Asmodeus's attack faded away, making Orihi nearly collapse to her knees but she sohow managed to retain conscious.
"I've blocked it…"
As if to say, "how about that," Orihi smiled. It was a bluff to boost the army’s morale, yet Orihi still managed to smile. However, her smile froze as Asmodeus prepared the sa attack again.
"…Damn you…"
Struggling to stand and erect a barrier, Orihi found herself powerless.
(This is the end) she thought.
But at that mont…
"It's okay. Leave the rest to . I won't let Orihi-sama bear everything alone."
Next to Orihi, Chloe muttered those words. Chloe spread her twin swords to the sides.
"〈I am the usurper who crawled out from the depths of the underworld after having usurped the blackness. Erge, Darkness of the Nether, subrge all in darkness. The King of Darkness, the Lord of the Abyss, the Origin of Nether Darkness, the End of Ultimate Darkness. All that appears from that darkness, all sinks into that blackness. Gather and dye――Darkness Force〉"
Chloe used Darkness Force, a move that she had only partially utilized until now as she felt that now was the critical mont to use it. It was an all-out activation and Chloe wasn't the only one thinking this way.
"Prepare for interception!! Throw everything we've got at it!!"
From the Adventurer's Guild, Clyde made that announcent. Many gathered around Orihi. Since defense was no longer possible, they aid to neutralize the attack through their own offensive attacks. (TL: Attack is indeed the best defense - Sun Tzu)
"Don't waste the ti that the Celestial Princess and the Royal Mage Corps have bought for us!! Charge up your attacks!!"
"Understood, miss!!"
"Can you change that way of speaking?! It's almost making lose my nerve!"
"I-it's my identity, miss! This I cannot yield, miss!!"
Jack and Mia also joined in the counter-offensive. They hadn't been simply doing nothing since they had been conserving their strength in order to prepare for their next attack.
The entire allied forces, while earlier on the verge of giving up, were now driven by a collective will to do sothing. But Orihi, who had blocked the attack, knew that it wasn't enough. That this group wouldn't be able to neutralize that sa attack.
While being unable to conjure another barrier as she was completely drained, Orihi murmured.
"The rest is up to you… Silver."
"Consider it done, leave it to ."
