Tears started to build up in Calista's eyes as she thought of herself as already part of the deceased.
"There is no need to overreact, little girl," Azmond said with a fascinated look on his face.
His figure had already phased behind the terrified girl.
*Pat*
He put a hand behind the girl to stop her from crashing into the reinforced walls.
But the response he got in return for helping out the girl was...
"Get your hands off of , you evil human!" Calista commanded with an adorable voice before she jumped back once again, heading straight for another wall of the room.
'Again? Seriously...?'
Azmond beca a little exasperated over the trouble this girl was putting him through.
Nonetheless, his figure faded once more before he essentially teleported right behind the wall she was nearing.
Azmond interrupted her collision course before he grabbed her by the collar of her baggy and ripped shirt.
"!? Yo-You human pervert! Stop touching !"
Calista's tiny fra attempted to escape as soon as she realized she was saved, but she realized that she couldn't escape the sll-good man's grasp!
So she did the only thing she could think of:.
"Sniffle Sniffle" She started to cry!
Her countenance beca downcast as she put her small hands up to her watery eyes.
'Why is she making it seem like I'm the bad guy here?'
Azmond truly couldn't comprehend how such a young girl could misinterpret the situation so badly.

A few minutes passed by as he had let Calista go a few tis; however, she would always try to run into walls, so he was eventually forced to tie her down with his Qi.
Azmond spent another few minutes after that explaining to her who he was and how she got to the unknown room she found herself in.
But of course, Calista doubted everything he said as she started to bawl her eyes out while calling out 'Pervert!' and 'Please don't eat '.
eting such a 'unique' and troubleso girl was a new experience for Azmond. But he truly couldn't understand how the 'Save the half-dead girl and nurse her back to health' turned into 'Escape the 'pervert' accusations of the girl called 'Calista''.
It even evolved into a special quest that would provide quite a lot of experience if he successfully completed it. And it was also through such a quest that he learned the na of the girl he had saved.
There were a few tis that Azmond asked her what her na was; however, her responses were always sothing like 'not gonna tell you' or 'No, you little girl eater!'.
All in all, Calista was a handful.
"So, you're not a pervert who wants to eat ?" Calista asked with an innocent expression.
"No," Azmond responded for what felt like the millionth ti.
Hearing the handso human respond with the sa thing again put the catkin girl into a cute state of contemplation.
'Not a pervert, but a savior!? Big-Sis had said that every human was a monster eater, though! However, this human seems so nice, plus he slls good...'
She appeared to have made up her mind when it concerned the credibility of the sll-good human.
Calista's eye sparkled a little as she looked Azmond right in the eye before...
"I'm so sowwyy!!" She apologized.
Her body bent over into a bowing position as she realized how horrible she had been treating the man who saved her.
"..."
Azmond was astounded by the abrupt change in Calista's attitude, as he had truly never t anyone quite like her...
*Sigh*
An aged sigh escaped his mouth as he moved over to the sniffling girl.
"You don't need to cry; I'm not mad," he reassured her while pulling her into a warm embrace.
"!?"
Calista was taken aback by the sudden bodily contact, but more than that...
'Mo-Mother'
His hug reminded her of the hugs that her mother used to give herat least when she was still around.
"Mother Big-Sis" She murmured, tears streaking down her face.
*Drip drip*
Such a simple gesture made by Azmond was all it took for the poor girl to start breaking down as the day suddenly beca a whole lot wetter.
And then, as if sothing had been repressed and bottled up inside of her for months, those tears morphed into a full-out breakdown.
Calista's body collapsed into his embrace as she tightly gripped his kimono.
"M-Mother, I-I Waaaa!!"
Her inaudible sniffles turned into her bawling her eyes out.
Calista was just a girl who went through a lot all at once with nothing and no one to depend on.
She had been all alone for almost an entire yearall by herself in a world like the monster world.
'I wonder what sort of things this girl has been through to elicit such a pent-up explosion of emotions.'
Azmond pondered over the topic for a mont before lightly shaking his head.
'It's no matter. If this girl needs soone to vent to, then I will help her out. I'm doing this for the exp after all.'
He convinced himself that he was being so nice for the ager amount of experience points he would gain...
However, his brooding soon ended as he gazed kindly at Calista before tenderly putting a large hand around the back of her head.
*Pat Pat*
Azmond started to gently rub her head as he let the girl soak his robes all she wanted.
After a few minutes of her letting out her emotions into his once clean robes, Calista wiped her eyes before looking up at the compassionate gaze focused on her.
"... Sniffle."
That's when she realized what she had done to his lavish-looking robes.
Calista couldn't believe she had once again done sothing rude to the man who saved her, as her eyes started to bubble up again.
"Sniffle sniffle I'll pay you back for your clothes," she promised through sniffles.
Calista bit her pretty pink lips till blood drew, as she knew she couldn't make due on such a promise...
