"You don’t need to be so generous. I wouldn’t mind even if it were ten percent more expensive," Margaret replied.
"No, no... I don’t want to take unnecessary profit," Mateo still refused.
"I see..." Margaret nodded.
"I’ll pay now..."
She took out her phone, and Mateo did the sa, showing his bank account QR code.
Leonardo, sitting beside her, naturally saw her phone screen.
Her account balance wasn’t hidden—and the number shocked him slightly.
She clearly didn’t just receive allowance from her father—she had access to company funds.
Then she entered the amount and sent it to Mateo.
(100,000,000!)
That was an enormous sum, but compared to the amount in her account, it could be considered small.
It’s not that Leonardo couldn’t use it himself—he had access to it too—but he couldn’t take such a conspicuous action.
"Thank you!" Mateo said as the money instantly entered his account. He then took out a small black cube with white lines.
It was the Resonance Core—larger than the Level 1 and 2 ones Leonardo had obtained before.
Mateo placed it in front of Leonardo.
Countless eyes turned toward it, given its imnse value. Beast Tars who didn’t have one desired it more than anything.
At the sa ti, even more jealousy was directed at Leonardo.
Who would have thought he’d have such luck—that a beautiful woman would pay such a high price for him?
Leonardo couldn’t help but feel a bit awkward.
He usually stole from Margaret or extorted her.
But today...
"What’s wrong?" Margaret asked when she noticed his gaze.
"It’s hard to explain," Leonardo replied.
"I’ll repay you later..." he added.
"No need to wait. How about you feed once, and we’ll call it even?"
Leonardo, "..."
"No, that’s still not even... But I do have sothing that might be useful for you..." he said, picking up a piece of fries and bringing it to Margaret’s mouth.
She slightly opened her lips, letting the fry enter.
Everyone froze at the sight, and those who knew Margaret well were even more shocked.
"Ehmm..." Mateo suddenly coughed. "You know, even though this gathering is a chance for couples to show romance, if it’s you two doing it, people might go crazy from jealousy."
"I don’t care even if they die," Margaret replied indifferently.
Then she did the sa—feeding a piece of fries to Leonardo.
Even Mateo, with his good temperant, couldn’t help but feel overwheld seeing that.
He couldn’t help but think how wonderful it must feel to receive such special treatnt from Margaret.
"By the way, Harvey, we might have a distinguished guest from Washington..." he said.
"From Washington? Who has enough status to be called a distinguished guest?" Margaret asked.
Washington was indeed the center of power in Arica.
But those truly powerful wouldn’t bother attending a gathering like this.
It was likely soone younger.
"Liam Watson..." Mateo answered.
"The guy who awakened with two classes?" Leonardo asked, slightly surprised.
It wasn’t unheard of, but in Arica, Liam Watson was the first.
He had awakened both the Knight and Magus classes, and it was said both had extraordinary talents.
"Yes... He’s already in City Z to et our Association Head... So people invited him here, but we don’t know if he’ll co or not," Mateo nodded.
"Just an arrogant brat who thinks he’s the greatest..." Margaret comnted with a sneer.
"Yes, he’s known to be very arrogant..." Mateo agreed.
"Maybe he wants to show his dominance here..."
"That’s what he always does wherever he goes. Oh, look..."
Mateo looked toward the entrance as people began moving toward the door.
That ant soone important had arrived.
"So annoying," Margaret muttered, clearly displeased.
The people at the entrance stepped aside as a young man walked in.
He had curly black hair and a handso face that looked gentle—but his cold eyes made him seem easily irritated.
A large black man, over two ters tall, followed behind him.
Leonardo frowned slightly when he saw Thomas standing beside that young man.
They seed familiar with each other.
The deputy mayor quickly went to greet them.
Mateo had no choice but to stand up and excuse himself from Leonardo and Margaret.
Even though it was a public event, it was still held at his family’s castle—he had responsibilities as a host.
The young man’s family wasn’t just wealthy—they also held significant political power. That’s why people welcod him even more than Margaret.
"He’s strong..." Leonardo said.
Just by looking at the young man, he could feel a sense of danger.
He imdiately crushed the cube he had received from Mateo.
A beam of light erged and entered his body.
DING!
(Your Power Resonance has increased from 3 to 4!)
(Power Resonance: 4)
The System notified him.
Now, he could use four talents or skills from his monsters.
That was already a lot.
Five?
That would require a Level 4 Resonance Core—which was far rarer.
Still, four was already more than satisfying for Leonardo.
At that mont, he felt an unpleasant gaze.
It was Thomas.
Even from a distance, the intense emotion in his eyes was unmistakable.
He nudged Liam Watson, who was being warmly welcod by Mateo and the others.
After hearing Thomas whisper sothing, Liam Watson turned toward Leonardo and Margaret’s table.
When he saw Margaret, he was briefly surprised.
Then he walked straight toward them.
Leonardo had a bad feeling about this.
Personally, he preferred avoiding trouble—but only if his dignity wasn’t trampled.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t the Monster World where he could simply escape from troubleso situations.
Running wasn’t the issue—submitting was.
"So, you’re Margaret Harvey, the one famous in this city," the young man said, looking her over from face to chest, unable to look further due to the table.
Unlike others, he spoke without any politeness.
"What do you want?" Margaret replied indifferently.
"Nothing much... I just heard that you’re very brilliant. That ans the man you chose must be sothing special..." Liam then looked at Leonardo.
"Is that so?" he asked.
"I don’t think so... I don’t believe there’s anything special about ," Leonardo replied.
In his mind, he wondered what this man’s true intention was. It didn’t feel like he ca just to show off.
"No, no... that’s impossible... A man must be extraordinary to have a beautiful woman—especially soone like your girlfriend, who’s so stunning that even I wish she were my partner. But don’t worry, I don’t have the habit of taking soone else’s woman. I just want to see what’s actually different about you."
"Why do you want to see that?" Leonardo frowned slightly, sensing sothing was off.
He glanced at Thomas and felt that his sharp gaze was sowhat different from before.
It seed there was another reason why they had co.
"Mind your own business..." Margaret spoke again.
"I’m just curious how strong he really is," Liam replied.
"So what if you’re curious? This isn’t a place to showcase strength... It seems true—you’re just a brainless brat who only knows how to cause trouble," Margaret snorted softly.
She wasn’t wrong.
This gathering was ant for building connections, not fighting.
Others were also annoyed with Liam, but none of them dared to comnt.
"Mr. Watson, how about we sit down and have a drink..." Mateo stepped in and spoke, trying to pull him away from Leonardo and Margaret.
However, Liam seed bothered by the invitation.
He looked at Leonardo—but the latter had already taken out his phone, ignoring him.
"You’re quite patient... fine, I’ll wait for you..." he said before turning and walking to another nearby table.
Since he said he would wait, it was clear he hadn’t given up.
"Rember, Allen said he ca to City Z to et the Association Head. As far as I know, they’re still relatives. You might be under suspicion by them. After all, you’ve been the most shocking figure in City Z lately, and your progress is too fast," Margaret whispered into Leonardo’s ear while holding his thigh.
Of course, that was exactly what Leonardo was worried about.
But he still pretended to be innocent.
"This has nothing to do with ," he said.
"Yes, it has nothing to do with you—because you’re not guilty..." Margaret nodded.
It was monts like this that made it hard for Leonardo not to like her.
Given all the cris he had committed, a woman like Margaret truly suited him.
"By the way, isn’t that your father’s assistant?" Leonardo asked, changing the topic as he noticed a beautiful black-haired woman at the entrance, wearing a stunning white gown like those worn by royal princesses.
Linda Diaz—the woman who had welcod them at Jas Harvey’s office.
Margaret frowned upon seeing her.
The woman looked around curiously.
Despite being intelligent, she seed sowhat naive, as if this was her first ti attending such a gathering.
Several n approached her imdiately, but she only responded with polite smiles.
When she saw Margaret, she walked toward their table with a smile, making Margaret look even more displeased.
"What are you doing here?" Margaret asked when she arrived.
"Miss, I’m here under your father’s orders," Linda replied.
"What orders?" Margaret’s frown deepened. If her father had business here, why didn’t he just send her instead?
