Chapter 704: Chapter 705: Reported for Eating at
Nian Shutong took charge of the arrangents, but the head chef didn’t get angry. Instead, he thought this student had the makings of a great leader.
The head chef also realized that Xiao Nian genuinely wanted to give, so let’s get to it!
“Guys, let’s stir-fry!”
“Yeah!”
“Ti for at!”
“Let’s do this!”
The kitchen was bustling with activity as several large pots began to heat up. Those cutting at and vegetables were all brimming with energy. This ti, the stir-fry was for their own consumption.
Still, those who had to work continued working. It just wasn’t very busy at the mont, resulting in quite a few idle hands.
Nian Shutong didn’t do much, just provided the at.
But a lot of delicious dishes could be made from one piece of at: shredded at stir-fried, fried atballs, boiled beef slices…
The kitchen’s fragrance gradually wafted outside, the rich aroma of at making it hard for everyone else to enjoy their als.
Quite a few people ca forward to inquire if there were new dishes, particularly at dishes, but the answer they got was no.
When people say no, what can you do? So many returned not quite believing.
However, one table of people, one of whom appeared unconvinced, looked toward the kitchen and snorted, “Birds of a feather flock together.”
“What’s that?”
The man smirked coldly, gesturing towards the kitchen, stating, “You don’t know, but they always keep so at for themselves, whether it’s the at we bring for cooking or the at and vegetables that co in from the back kitchen. They always save a bit for themselves to eat.”
” ‘No at left,’ they say, yet the sll of at could lift the roof. They’re just filling their own bellies, doing so cooking on the side. Just yesterday I saw them giving a female student braised pork.”
The group of students at the table all looked toward the kitchen, although none seed as irate as the man.
“Well, it’s okay, isn’t it? Whoever works in the kitchen should taste a bit.”
“Yeah, you have to know if it’s too salty or not.”
“Hey, didn’t Qiu Cheng complete his practical credits here in this cafeteria?”
The man called Qiu Cheng, the one with displeasure in his eyes, nodded, but said nothing further.
After this table finished eating, everyone left together.
But Qiu Cheng, growing more indignant as he thought about it, rembered how the bald head chef had been so critical of him during his practicals, giving him the lowest score. This had significantly affected his ranking.
Thinking about the female student from yesterday, Qiu Cheng’s frustration grew, and he headed towards the school’s disciplinary inspection office.
When he ca out, he looked smugly in the direction of the cafeteria, thinking, “Eat up!”
anwhile, the disciplinary office, having received the complaint, had no choice but to send soone to inspect, since they could catch them red-handed.
A director, accompanied by two students, headed towards the cafeteria.
As they arrived outside the cafeteria, the overwhelming at aroma was indeed too strong to ignore, yet the director only laughed.
“Idiots.”
A male student beside him, confused, asked, “What do you an, ‘idiots,’ director?”
The director didn’t hide his thoughts, pointing towards the back door of the cafeteria, “Does it sll good?”
“It does.”
“Such an aroma tells us two things: first, they didn’t even think to hide it from us; second, they have a lot of at.”
“Think about it, the entire school’s at supply isn’t that voluminous. How much could this small cafeteria get? If there’s not that much at available, then where did this at co from? They have their own sources. Reporting them is pointless.”
The director blurted out a swear word but then, suddenly smiling at a thought, said, “But the complaint is tily, better now than never.”
Happy as can be, the director walked up to the back door, knocking loudly and shouting, “Disciplinary Inspection Office here, soone reported you!”
The director repeated himself several tis without kicking in the door, simply calling out.
Even if there had been any evidence in the kitchen, it should have been completely eradicated by now.
About five minutes later, the bald master chef opened the back door of the kitchen and said to the director who had co for inspection, eyes bulging fiercely, “Hurry up and inspect! It’s almost ti to eat.”
“Great, save a bite.”
Once the director was inside, he perford a cursory inspection, made a registration, and then found a place to sit down to wait for his al.
About ten minutes later, the dishes started to be served one after another.
“Slippery pork slices.”
“Four Happiness atballs.”
“Pig stomach with green pepper.”
“Braised pork.”
“Red braised spareribs.”
…
As each dish was nad, the director could hardly sit still; he had guessed there would be a lot of at, but he hadn’t anticipated this much.
What’s going on? They couldn’t possibly have organized a group to steal pigs, could they?
After all the dishes were served, the bald chef called over the busy Shutong.
“Xiao Nian, co quick. We can’t start eating without you.”
“Coming!”
Nian Shutong wiped her hands and hurried over. Before she could sit down, the director opposite her suddenly stood up.
“Professor Nian!”
“Hmm? You know ?”
Nian Shutong sat down as usual and glanced at the master chef who was looking at her, asking, “What’s the matter? You can just call Xiao Nian.”
Nian Shutong sounded perfectly at ease, prompting the bald master chef to suddenly burst into laughter and say loudly, “Alright, alright, I’ll call you Xiao Nian.”
Once everyone was seated, Nian Shutong took out two jars of alcohol and set them aside.
“This al, just drink water. After you guys get off work, you can drink it yourselves.”
“I’ll substitute water for alcohol and take the lead. It’s not that I have sothing to hide from you all, I just happened to arrive at the right ti and liked the atmosphere here, so I stayed.”
“My na is Nian Shutong, a teacher from the Artifact Refining Departnt. You can call Xiao Nian.”
“Cheers!”
The people in the kitchen were well-acquainted with Nian Shutong’s boldness. Without hesitation, they all picked up their bowls and drank the bowl of “water wine” with her.
The director on the other side was also a perceptive man. A professor introduced personally by the principal, soone not to be offended, so he followed suit.
Everyone started to eat. During the al, they all found out what the director was there for, but the director didn’t specify who it was about.
“Certainly can’t say who it was, but that kid isn’t too clever, short-sighted and narrow-minded.”
The people at the table didn’t care much about this student; no one brought it up again.
But Nian Shutong was quite interested in sothing they ntioned.
“Master Chef, do you own this cafeteria?”
“Yes, the school’s cafeteria can be outsourced. I didn’t have much to do after retiring from the military, so I pulled together so old comrades, and here we are.”
I see…
“Master Chef, would it be okay to add to your team? I might not have many skills, but I can supply you with provisions. Pork, beef, mutton, chicken – I have it all.”
“And all kinds of vegetables and fruits too.”
The bald master chef, who had been about to eat, put down his at and asked with a suddenly parched throat, “You’re saying you have all of this?”
“Yes, I have all of it. How about we collaborate?”
