Nicholas led Ella through the grand hallway, his hand still lightly resting on the small of her back. She couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease mixed with a fluttering excitent, the way his fingers brushed lightly against her skin sending electric sparks up her spine. She tried to ignore it, but the intensity of his presence was undeniable.

"This way," Nicholas said, his voice casual, but there was sothing about the way his eyes lingered on her that made her skin prickle. He guided her into what looked like a spacious living room, complete with plush velvet sofas, art pieces on the walls, and floor-to-ceiling windows that offered a panoramic view of the sprawling garden outside.

Ella glanced around, impressed but trying not to show it. "This place is... huge," she said, resisting the urge to run her fingers along the smooth surface of the elegant furniture.

"I like space," Nicholas replied, his lips curling into that mischievous grin of his. "You should see the rest of it." He winked, leading her down another hall, his steps slow and deliberate.

Ella rolled her eyes but followed him. "I’m sure it’s all very impressive."

He turned to her with a glint of amusent in his gaze. "Are you saying I’m not impressive?"

She raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. "I didn’t say that. I’m just saying I’m not easily impressed."

Nicholas laughed softly, a low chuckle that seed to vibrate through the air. "You’ll be impressed by sothing eventually," he teased.

They walked deeper into the house, with Nicholas constantly pointing out little details—fancy sculptures, expensive-looking bookshelves, and high-end kitchen equipnt. He was clearly in his elent, enjoying showing off his wealth, but there was a certain playfulness in his tone that made it feel less like boasting and more like he was sharing a secret with her, trying to draw her in.

As they passed a large, ornate wooden door at the end of the hall, Nicholas paused. His hand hovered near the knob, and his expression shifted, becoming more guarded. "And this one," he said, his voice dropping an octave, "you don’t go inside."

Ella stopped walking, glancing at the door. It was different from the other rooms—darker, more mysterious, like it held sothing important behind it. "Why not?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

Nicholas’s gaze flickered toward her, and the mischievous glint in his eyes montarily disappeared. He leaned in a bit closer, his voice lowering to a whisper that sent a shiver down her spine. "Because so doors," he said, his lips almost brushing against her ear, "are ant to stay closed. So things should be left in the dark."

Ella’s breath hitched, and she involuntarily stepped back, her heart pounding faster. His proximity, his voice, the way he spoke—everything about that mont felt charged, dangerous.

"Is there sothing in there I shouldn’t see?" she asked, trying to sound casual, but her voice cracked slightly, betraying her unease.

Nicholas didn’t answer imdiately. Instead, he took a step back, his eyes dark, and for a second, she saw sothing almost predatory flicker in them. "Maybe," he said softly, his voice like silk. "But that’s not the only reason you shouldn’t go in."

Ella swallowed hard, her throat suddenly dry. "What’s the other reason?" she whispered, unable to stop herself from asking.

He took a step toward her, closing the distance between them in one smooth motion. His hand brushed lightly against her arm, sending a spike of heat through her. "Because I don’t want you to," he said in a voice so low, it was almost a growl.

She stared into his eyes, her heart racing for reasons she didn’t understand. Her chest tightened, and she knew that if she didn’t walk away now, she’d be lost.

But then, Nicholas’s expression softened, his lips curling into a teasing smile once again. "Don’t worry," he said, his voice light. "You’re not missing anything that matters."

Ella let out a shaky breath, trying to compose herself. "Are you always this mysterious?"

Nicholas laughed, a sound that was both charming and unsettling. "I have my secrets. Everyone does." He turned toward the door again, his hand resting on the doorknob. "But so things are better left untouched."

Ella couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to this room than Nicholas was letting on. Sothing dark, sothing hidden. But she didn’t dare ask again. Instead, she changed the subject, her voice trembling slightly as she tried to push the strange tension aside. "So, what else do you have hidden in here? More mysterious rooms?"

Nicholas shot her a look, his grin returning. "Not unless you want to see more."

She raised her eyebrows, crossing her arms. "Maybe later. I’m not sure I’m ready to delve into the mystery of your house just yet."

"Fair enough," he said, his voice light but with an edge of sothing deeper beneath it. "But don’t say I didn’t warn you. There’s plenty more to discover."

Ella took a deep breath, trying to steady her racing heart. "I think I’ll pass for now."

"Wise choice," Nicholas replied, his voice laced with amusent. "But don’t worry, you’ll find your way back here eventually."

Ella wasn’t sure if he was talking about the house or sothing else. Sothing about the way he said it sent another jolt of tension through her. But she didn’t press him. Instead, she followed him as he walked further into the house, both of them silent for a mont, the weight of the unspoken words hanging between them.

She could feel the heat of his gaze on her, even though he hadn’t looked back. And she knew, sowhere deep down, that this wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.
