Chapter 81: BETWEEN A DEVIL AND THE RED SEA

Abigail

"Good night, Miss Kellerman," My boss grunted, strutting his massive fra down the hallway towards his private elevator.

My fingers halted on the keyboard while I watched him go, unable to tear my eyes away from him. The sanctuary would be open tonight, but I couldn’t dare show up. Mostly because I could not predict if he would go or not.

Nothing about him even gave a hint that he went to sex clubs like that during his leisure.

It was simply unfair. I was a jittery ss, and he got to be all dignified and cool while Alicia and Drake hung the Sanctuary over my head like the sword of Damocles.

There was another sword of Damocles hanging over my head. The call I received yesterday.

"emaw’s sick, llia," Gramps voice had filtered over the phone. "It’s not so serious, you don’t have to co over- "

"I’ll take a leave, Gramps," I had cried, my entire body trembling with horror at the images filling my head. "I’ll be there on Saturday. How’s she? What’s wrong?"

"I’m fine, silly," emaw’s weak voice ca from the other end. "It’s just sothing about needing so other ds because the ones I use don’t work anymore,"

That ant we needed more money. My salary with Wolfe Corp was buoyant enough; I just had to make sure to keep this job, because emaw’s new treatnt could last for a year.

I didn’t care if it lasted more, as long as my emaw was fine, I could live with whatever it cost .

My phone rang with a shrill sound on my desk. I snatched it off, tapping rapidly to open up the ssage. It was from Annette’s contact at the ministry.

Found who the plate number belongs to. So Mr. Carlton Gayle.

"YES!" I squealed, throwing a fist in the air.

Take that, skinny Lee.

Oh, her face tomorrow after I reported this to the boss was going to be worth watching, down to the very detail. I’d wipe that goofy ass smile off her face imdiately. "Send it to this address. I need a hard copy of those docunts as proof," I texted back.

"I got you," He replied, and a wild cackle left my lips.

Oh, Alicia had no idea how much shit she was about to get stuck in. She should have taken her trashing back in middle school with grace.

I rounded up my work and took the elevator down to the ground floor. My heels echoed behind

with each step I took. The company was mostly empty, and the lights on the ground floor had been dimd.

Outside through the glass, Dennis and the rest of the security team were by the gatehouse; so were already doing rounds around the building, wielding flashlights everywhere.

"Miss?" The head of security cocked a large brow when I stepped out of the building.

Dennis had to be one of the sons of Anakin or sothing because he towered over everyone in the company, or even in the United States, as a matter of fact. I wouldn’t put it past him to actually be that huge.

They could cram fifteen of

into that massive body of his. "You’re still around?"

"Yeah, I’m expecting an urgent delivery."

"You’re turning this place into a personal shop site?" He chuckled, waving a heavy arm over his face to wipe the sweat off. I just knew Finn went out of his way to find the biggest looking man taller than he was and slapped the head of security badge over his chest.

"Oh no, I’m just ordering you your box of snakes,"

That had the giant throwing his head back in a hearty laugh, dragging his palm over his face. "Like a dainty one like you could handle snakes, Miss,"

"I’m not dainty," I scoffed, adjusting my blouse and shirt that clung to

’not dainty’ body. "It’s because you’re a seven-foot pound of muscle, that’s why you think I’m dainty,"

He gave another strong belly laugh, stomping away. "Whatever floats your boat,"

Two hours later, when I was sure my heels would destroy every inch of my toes from waiting, a deliveryman finally showed up at the gates. One of the security team began grilling him before I could saunter my ass over. "It’s fine, it’s fine, He’s here for ."

"Miss Abigail Kellerman?" The driver asked as I stepped out of the gate to receive the package.

"The one and the only,"

He fished out two brown envelopes that were sealed and stamped to be delivered to Wolfe Corporation headquarters. My brows snapped.

Why would they send two different envelopes?

"I’ve got a delivery for so Mr. Finnegan Wolfe, too; would he be around this late?"

A delivery for the boss this late?

"I’ll just sign for both, if that’s okay,"

The guy’s shoulders raised and fell in a shrug as he held out both envelopes. I took them, signed his little clipboard, and strutted right back into the office, excitent buzzing through .

This was huge. I finally had proof of Alicia and Drake. First, a video of them getting into a car, then the proof that the car belonged to Carlton Gayle.

When I arrived back at my desk, I dropped my ass on my seat and dialed his number, telling him I had sothing urgent to tell him.

Kicking off my heels, I tore at the seal on the envelope. Weird, why were there at least three docunts in here? All to prove a plate number belonged to- I glanced at the second envelope that I had tossed on the desk.

Ah crap, I had opened Mr. Wolfe’s envelope by accident. I had to find a way to seal it back. I rose from my seat, searching my stationery drawer, when a picture fell out of the envelope.

My picture.

Every single muscle in my body froze. The picture landed on my desk, my blue eyes gleaming up at , my red hair spilling everywhere.

"Why does... why does a package for him have my picture?" I swallowed hard, fishing out the rest of the docunts from the package.

My stomach dropped, and my knees weakened. I clasped a hand over my mouth, my eyes scanning over every word on the page.

.

They were all details about

tracking from the flight five months ago. Dominic had been searching for .

No, even worse, He had found , and he was on his way here.

Freaking shit!

"No," the papers slid from hands to the table, my entire body shook, as I clamped a hand over my face rembering his words when he sacked Tyler

You do not lie to .

What would happen when he found out I had been lying to him all along?
