Chapter 74: WHY?

Finnegan

Abigail Kellerman was too quiet and it drove

insane.

Hilarious, wasn’t it?

Barely three months ago, her sharp tongue annoyed the fuck out of , now my entire body itched for her to look at . Just fucking look at .

"Mr Wolfe?" A nurse walked into the waiting room, her white scrubs had a suspicious red stain on the side. "Dr Hale is ready to see you,"

Beside , my assistant stiffened, gripping her bag strap tightly with pale knuckles. The color had drained out of her face completely, leaving her cornflower eyes too vivid against all that white skin.

She looked like she was going to be sick.

"If you’re planning to pass out," I said dryly, "I’d appreciate it sowhere that isn’t directly in my path."

Those blue eyes snapped to mine, flashing in anger and my chest tightened at the sight. There it is. "I’m fine, sir."

She wasn’t fine. Was she not a fan of hospitals? I hadn’t ant to drag her along to my regular checkup but we were to leave for Denver in three hours for a seminar and I figured this saved ti.

I couldn’t have my checkup then have Jas drive all the way back to the office just to pick her up. That sounded like an utter waste of ti.

It wasn’t because I wanted her close to . Last weekend, I went off to the Bahamas for Henry’s birthday. It had been hard getting a golden statue of him shipped down to the Bahamas but he loved it and that was all that seed to matter.

That ant I had to miss seeing Aphrodite however and the thought that she could have found soone else to touch her... to fuck her, drove

insane all through.

This was madness. I was going half mad. How could I ache and yearn for three different won? It didn’t seem fair to be furious if Aphrodite found another lover, considering I wanted Red with every fiber of my being.

Abigail being all cold to

ever since I fired Tyler niggled on my mind more often than it should. She probably thought I was unfair and all that sentintal shit.

I rose off my seat, gave my suit a tug and glanced back at my assistant. I didn’t think it was possible, but she had gotten even paler and looked like she would like her guts out. "You’re coming with ,"

At least, I’d get to keep an eye on her to be sure she was okay. She glumly rose off her seat too, her skirt clinging to her tightly, mapping out all her curves. I dragged my eyes off them, gritting my teeth as I stord down to Hale’s office.

Dr. Hale was in his sixties and had been my doctor for twenty years. He was very thorough which was why I kept him. He asked his questions, made his notes as I answered, while my assistant sat in the chair by the wall with her tablet on her knees, her ankles crossed.

Her skirt had ridden up when she sat. The hem rested at mid thigh, showing off those sexy long legs and heated flashes of my hand between them, fucking her her, her silky hot pussy gripping my fingers ran through my head.

"Mr. Wolfe, shirt off please."

I shrugged it off, my body knowing the exact mont those blue eyes latched on to . She whipped her head down to her tablet when I glanced at her and a chuckle built deep in my chest.

I swallowed it down hard. This was ridiculous. I was a grown ass man sitting on an examination table finding entertainnt in my assistant trying not to look at .

Dr. Hale pressed his stethoscope to my chest, moved it and listened.

"Hm." He moved to my back, one hand flat between my shoulder blades. "There’s a mark here I’d like to get a better look at. Nothing alarming, I just want to check."

"It’s probably just the tattoos," I grunted but he ignored , snatching a penlight off his desk.

"Can your assistant co hold this light for ?"

My ever efficient assistant was on her feet before he finished talking, crossing to us. Her scent surrounded

and the tension in muscles eased slowly. The small penlight clicked on, her hand reached past my shoulder, the warmth of her teasing my skin.

Her soft moans from the storage room replayed in my head.

Dr. Hale leaned in, examining. "Yes, that’s fine, just a-"

A sharp knock had us all turning out heads. The door swung open. A young nurse walked in, panting heavily. "Dr. Hale, I’m sorry, the patient in room six-"

"I’m with a patient, Anna,"

"She’s pulled out her IV again! There’s blood everywhere, I can’t, I don’t know..."

"One mont." Hale sighed, straightening up.. "I apologize, Mr. Wolfe, give

two minutes, please." He was out the door before I could respond.

The penlight clicked off.

I turned my head slightly to my assistant who was still standing so close. Her chest rose and fell quickly and the color that had returned faintly to her cheeks had drained away again.

Shit, she definitely wasn’t a fan of hospitals. Why? Whatever happened?

"Miss Kellerman,"

"I’m fine." She lied, taking a step forward, an uncomfortable smile plastered on her face but she swayed.

My hands shot out quickly, catching her shoulders, pulling her against . Her skin was cold to touch, a bit clammy and my brows snapped together.

"Abigail?"

Her head fell back slightly against my shoulder. Those blue eyes were glassy and unfocused, her lashes fluttering. "I’m fine, sir,"

Like hell she was. The desire that had been simring inside

burned off instantly, my entire body stiffening in alarm. Sothing was wrong.

"Hey, hey," I cupped her face in my hands, tilting it up. "Hey."

Her blue eyes rolled in their sockets, eyelids closing and she went limp in my arms. A terrifying cold chill swept down my spine. Fuck!

"Abigail!"
