Chapter 60: Realising Who is in Charge
“What the fuck else does that crazy lunatic have hidden in his workshop!” I unintentionally swore once I finished reading the two items up for auction.
It had been two days since my deal with the captain was made and the ship had started travelling to the nearest transport tunnel. With that, I got to see the map of where we were, and yep, I was in the middle of bloody nowhere.
And I was honestly impressed that it was only going to take three~ish months to reach the nearest transport tunnel. One wouldn’t guess from all the comnts I made about the ship’s patchwork nature but damn did it move fast.
Faster than most ships I had been on, I could see where all the money was being spent.
I was currently spending my ti in the small hangar the ship had, mostly because the material on the door was one-way see-through so I could watch the stars zip past, but it being a big space also helped.
What price will these items even reach?
I looked at the blurb giving for the two items again.
Na: Adding A Bit
Description: A great item to help with all your mana needs! All effects don’t negatively interfere with other skills or equipnt!
Main Function: Can double the user’s mana of anyone below level 300!
Side Function 1: Double’s mana regeneration!
Side Function 2: Can store concreted mana up to the average’s level 200s (About 2 000 000 MU – Mana Units)!! Doesn’t fade away (For at least a year XD).
Side Function 3: Glows in the dark.
Side Function 4: Helps with sleep…
Such childish formatting…
The description’s format was not a standard one and it seed to have been written by Craftalot himself.
The first item was a blue crystal pendant, with an intricate pattern of diamonds and circles within it. It looked pretty, and it would’ve sold well on looks alone.
Mana technology had co a long way, but even after thousands of years of developnt humanity was far from great at creating items with ‘Abilities’.
Making a weapon, armour, transport, or even one’s phone more efficient and powerful? Easy! But creating items that defied logic by granting abilities similar to skills and Vocations was out of reach… for normal people.
The only place one would find items like that was in Dungeon, but even that was so rare that the vast majority of first-wave hunters from the start of the space expansion phase never ca across one.
The reasons being, one they didn’t appear in every dungeon, and two they only appeared once at the dungeon’s creation. Once a dungeon was completely explored, then it was safe to say there was no chance that a new item would ever be discovered in that dungeon.
Recent examples would be the orbs the Dominous Hood Juptar commander used were probably an advanced defence drone that possessed a powerful multilayer cursed within it, while the sword he carried, and maybe the spear–I was a little more doubtful on those, but they were really good at storing energy–were highly likely to be artefacts found in a dungeon.
The staff that Nina possessed was one of these items found in a dungeon. That item was famous–Staff of Clear Midnight Moons–but it was hard to tell where Nina’s abilities ended and the staff’s strength started. Those two were a pair whose history had been long and fruitful.
I wonder if it was kept safe.
There was no way to check outside information from this ship, it was a security asure, so they only ever got updates when they connected to other ports to the universal net.
The second item that was shown off was even more wild.
Na: You Fucked With , I Fuck With You!
Description: You HATE soone? Well, congrats most people in the universe do! But sotis you hate soone just that little, tiny, bit, EXTRELY MORE!!!!!! If you do, this item is perfect for you!
Main Function 1: Once you have t the person you hate while in possession of this item (Yes, so strong negative feelings are required, sorry those who thought this would be a great spy tool), you can show how far that person is away from you at all tis. Tracking blocking skills DO NOTHING to stop this wonderful device.
Main Function 2: When you are near (near = on the sa continent) the person you hate (Also forgot to ntion, this device can store [Five Hated Individuals]), that person feels triple the amount of pain (This feature is togglable and is off by default).
Main Function 3: Can steal mana from a hated target when within 5 kilotres of the target. The drain is about 0.1% of their mana per minute.
Side Function 1: It can connect to the internet, to a limited extent.
Side Function 2: Has a notepad, clock/alarm, and many other nice daily tools!
Side Function 3: The ‘screen’ will always be clean, no matter what stains may touch it.
How… Does soone even make this..?
Espoiramissa and any helpful comntary would be great right now, but they were still dead quiet. It was getting to the point where I wasn’t concerned–cause nothing could harm it–but I was nervous about why they were gone for so long.
The second item was… a small tablet. It had a simple pure white rock screen and the image showed gold letters saying ‘Welco’.
Suddenly I heard two pairs of footsteps enter the hanger. My loud outburst about Craftalot’s item from monts earlier wasn’t unnoticed.
“Never thought I would hear so besides the captain call Craftalot a ‘crazy lunatic’.”
The lady whose body I nearly let explode, entered the shipyard with a male friend in tow. Both had their helt off, she was blond with short hair, gold eyes, and a few scratches on her face, while the dude had hazel eyes and brown hair. Both of them were around the sa height.
The lady had kept her distance for the last two days but she had her eye on .
I asked, “Is that supposed to be a complint or an insult?”
The male crew mber answered, “...Just an observation.”
The lady spoke up again, “Are you planning to keep your end of the deal?”
“I haven’t lied a single ti, so as long as you people behave, nothing bad should happen ”
The lady then spouted a question, “Then why haven’t you shown your face?” In an attempt to scope out if I was bluffing or not.
“Cause I don’t want to.” I didn’t want them to see my face and now that I had horns growing out of my head… yeah, I don’t want people to see that.
“Worried we will notice you from sowhere? You famous or sothing.” I could tell she was still trying to probe , but I wasn’t doing anything to stop it because I found the situation funny.
I laughed, “Nope, I would honestly be amazed if you sohow knew from sowhere.”
She then said her final question, “What is your na anyway?”
“I could say the sa.”
I had not bothered to ask anyone their nas, and the sa was true vice-versa.
The lady, however, did decide to answer, “I’m Sara, that’s George, the captain is just Cap.”
“Call , Lux.”
“Is that your real na?”
I laughed, “Course not.”
As we were talking, a red siren went off with the captain's voice echoing throughout the ship.
“A loose monster has started to chase after the ship, enter battle stations, we are speeding up. Danger maximum! We are going to try and escape from its territory!”
Rarely monsters would leave their dungeons, most couldn’t, but the ones that did were especially powerful. Monsters that could fly in space were even more rare but it was a common rumour that you could find them in the outer edges of the mapped universe. Being able to slowly multiply without being hunted by humans.
Sara and George started running back into the greater part of the ship.
I laughed, looked away and walked to the exit, “Don’t worry, I’ll deal with this.”
I opened a small hatch door and jumped on top of the ship. My starlight chains ford around and connected to the ship.
It’s not that big.
My previous encounters with larger-than-life creatures left numb to creatures that simply dwarfed ships like this.
“What are you doing you crazy bitch?!” I heard the lady’s voice over the comms.
I simply laughed, “Do you want to see what fireworks are like?”
The large creature roared. It was a mix of a shark's body with a mammoth trunk and tusk, it also had three large pairs of leather-like wings. It was a deep yellow with blue highlights on the edges where its skeleton structure pushed against the skin, as it looked to have barely any muscle.
Let’s keep it simple.
“[Fire Arrow].” I waved my hand and behind , five hundred arrows were created in a second, for each I made sure to pack a little bit extra firepower. “Now fly.”
All the arrows shot out, and the creature roared and continued to chase after the ship, but in the process, it clearly made an attempt to dodge the arrows.
Not that the attempt was good enough.
The arrows flew up first, before they fell down, ten by ten.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Half the arrows exploded while the other half cleanly penetrated right through the beast’s skin. Then after five seconds, all that was left was the swiss cheese of a corpse.
With that, I returned back to the ship.
“See, nothing to worry about.”
And I was greeted with a collection of absolutely shocked and terrified faces.
