The sound of the door opening echoed. A familiar footsteps approached.
It was Avena.
Avena casually closed the door. She glanced at the untouched lunch on the dining table and asked, “Are you not used to the food here, Ciel?”
Saying this, Avena shifted her gaze to Ciel. When she saw Ciel’s right hand, her pupils constricted slightly.
“Ciel?” Avena quickly walked towards Ciel.
“What’s wrong?”
Seeing Avena’s slightly nervous expression, Ciel subconsciously let go of the pen in her hand and turned to face Avena.
At this mont, in Avena’s eyes, Ciel’s right hand was covered in cracks. Illusory tentacles surged out from the cracks in her skin, seemingly constantly expanding these cracks.
But Ciel seed completely unaware of this. She even wondered why Avena was so nervous.
However, upon seeing Avena pick up her right hand, Ciel also realized sothing and said, “Has it gotten worse?”
Right now, in Ciel’s eyes, her right hand hadn’t changed at all—it was even in better condition than before this simulation. She didn’t see any cracks or tentacles at all.
This was because there was no dizziness or buzzing in her mind at this mont. She didn’t feel any spiritual damage.
“It’s even worse than before... Ciel...”
Avena looked at Ciel’s right arm, feeling a little frustrated.
During the ti she had spent with Ciel, Avena had constantly witnessed Ciel’s ntal state improving day by day with her company and care...
But just now, after she had just stepped out for a mont and returned, Ciel’s condition had already worsened to this extent. This gave Avena a sense of deep frustration.
She had tried so hard. She was so close to purifying Ciel’s spirit body, but just at the last step, it had worsened again.
To use an inappropriate analogy, it was like a wife who had worked hard to save so money, only to have her gambling-addicted husband find it and take it out to gamble again—at least Avena’s mood right now was similar to this.
At this mont, she wasn’t sure if she could clear away this spiritual pollution for her while both of them were safe.
Worse than before?
Soon, Ciel realized sothing.
The increase in spiritual power brought by 【Calm Mind Lv.4】 had allowed her to resist this spiritual pollution... so much so that she herself hadn’t realized that the pollution had beco more severe.
Is this because of the overloaded summoning? Or because of communicating with the Other Side creature?
Possibly both...
“Did sothing else happen?” Avena sensed sothing. She looked at Ciel before her and asked.
“Because of the explosion last night?”
Just last night, while Avena was sleeping with Ciel, an explosion occurred at the Royal dical Association. Ashford was bombed and severely injured to the point where even the Redemption Society was helpless.
This explosion was also the beginning of Forte’s conspiracy.
“Part of the reason,”
Ciel shook her head, then said with a comforting smile, “But it’s mostly resolved now. You won’t need to continue staying at the hotel later.”
But even though Ciel said this, Avena’s hand, which was holding Ciel’s, did not release its grip.
“Your current condition is not optimistic, Ciel.”
Avena said, “Don’t bear it alone. If sothing happens, you can tell . We will solve it together.”
“I will tell you... but for now, let finish what I’m working on.” Ciel intentionally avoided the topic.
Avena naturally noticed this small gesture, but she still released Ciel’s hand. After Ciel picked up her pen, she said, “For the next few days, I will not leave your side for a single step, until your symptoms lessen.”
Hearing Avena’s words, Ciel was slightly startled, but soon, she nodded.
“Okay.”
She knew that Avena was concerned about her. Avena was afraid that Ciel would, in a mont of inattention, allow her ntal condition to continue to deteriorate.
Avena moved a chair and sat beside Ciel. She just watched Ciel writing at the desk. After about an hour, when Ciel had copied half of the notebook, Avena asked curiously, “What are you writing?”
She could tell Ciel was writing so notes related to dical experints, but she wasn’t sure what they were specifically about—Avena had basically been observing Ciel’s ntal condition and hadn’t seriously looked at what Ciel was writing.
“Sothing for Adele.” Ciel explained, “Research material obtained from the organization, about the Rotting Disease... Is Adele in her room?”
“She shouldn’t have gone out.”
Avena shook her head. “Are you going to look for her?”
“Yes.”
“I’ll go with you.”
Avena was truly scared now. She felt that she really had to stay by Ciel’s side every step of the way to prevent Ciel from doing anything else that would contaminate her spirit body.
However, before leaving the room, Ciel seed to think of sothing.
She stood in front of Avena, placed her hands on Avena’s shoulders, looked at her seriously, and said, “Avena, you must listen carefully to what I am about to say.”
Avena looked at Ciel, not speaking, but she nodded slightly.
“Be careful of the Church of the God of Order...”
Ciel recalled the things her simulated self had recorded in the notebook. She said, “They have plans for Nia.”
“Okay.”
Avena nodded without any doubt. She trusted Ciel—except in matters concerning Ciel’s life.
“Be careful of Windsor... If there is a situation where you have to see Windsor, you must bring .”
Ciel stated another thing to be cautious about.
“Moreover, I must be by your side at all tis, including Nia.”
In the simulation, it was at a banquet hosted by Windsor that Nia disappeared directly. This triggered a series of events that indirectly led to Avena returning to her family, while Adele and Amy were forced to live underground in darkness.
Before dealing with Forte, she had to be prepared for these things... Fortunately, at least for now, they didn’t need to be particularly cautious of Forte.
“Princess Windsor...? She probably forgot about a long ti ago.”
Avena’s face showed a hint of hesitation. She hadn’t seen Windsor co to find her since she had been here for so days. She didn’t know why Ciel suddenly brought up this Princess.
“She has many secrets, and she is not soone trustworthy.”
Ciel shook her head and said, “Let’s go. Let’s go find Adele.”
“Okay...”
At this mont, Ciel also casually opened the simulation interface and checked the ti of the next simulation.
Ciel currently had no clue about how to obtain the “Uniqueness” from Forte in reality.
She had to continue relying on simulations to conduct the necessary trial and error.
