The wind cutting past me sounded like the murmuring of a streamlet. My partner flew through the air, and used the opportunity to hunt, focusing on jellyfish in particular. Her speed as she raced through the sky had suddenly increased, but I didn’t mind.

Rollodeen transmitted feelings of joy to me through the tentacle connecting us while growling as she happily wolfed down another jellyfish. Because it made me happy as well, I used Holy Sword Saraten to take down a flying raccoon as part of Saraten’s training.

After continuing the training session for a bit, I asked myself whether I should examine the silver coffin. I touched the carvings with their design reminding me of butterflies and people.

The coffin didn’t accept my mana. Maybe its exterior is made of an insulating material.

Suddenly, an eerie voice resounded from within the coffin, “…Ki…zeleg.”

I couldn’t put the coffin into my item box, so the Kizeleg inside must be alive after all. Akreshys-sama told me that it’s possible for me to make Kizeleg revive if I use the egg-shaped gem left behind by Demi-Goddess Golgonshura.

I think those words were directed at me as I possess the space-time and water attributes. It’s not like I’m obeying Akreshys-sama’s warning that she wouldn’t do it, if it was her decision, but…right now I won’t free Kizeleg.

On the day of that chaotic night I had heard about the otherworld’s Japan from Sana-san and Hina-san.

Sana-san’s Hououin family judged this Kizeleg to be an ancient weapon. It looks like this coffin cuts off all magic. That’s why the Hououin family invested large amounts of money into recovering the coffin in Alaska where bloody wars were being waged.

The Hououin family analyzed the metal of the coffins and its contents, and planned to use it for the wars against foreign enemies and domestic adversaries.

I also heard that the Twelve High Families didn’t necessarily get along amongst each other either. There seems to be a fated strife going on among fellow magicians.

Hina-san was, honestly speaking, looking a lot scarier than Sana-san when she talked about the history while staring at me through her glasses.

『…It was decided at the magician council of the Hououin family. And especially the words of father, the patriarch and successor of the great mage’s powers, are absolute』 was the explanation of Sana-san as second daughter and Hououin Sana.

Still…it was regrettable that we couldn’t save all those who got transferred to Sela. I’m sure Quiche would have taken them all in. They should have been able to challenge the new life as long as they had a will to survive.

At that point, Sana-san and Hina-san both looked at me.

“Are you going to release that Kizeleg or whatever it is?”

“It might stand to reason, but going by the violent battles I’ve seen so far, I believe it to be dangerous.”

“Someday I might do it.”

There are no absolutes in this world.

Just when I thought that, my attention focused on the girls’ uniforms. They were made out of carbon fibers and had fine silver, yellow, and red lines on black ground. They were stylish and overall pretty neat attires. They might have a simple display and a portable puter integrated on the arm.

For sure, it’s clothing I’ve never seen in my Japan.

An emblem of a spear and magic crest had been added to the right chest part of their uniforms. Their left chest was protected by a small heart protector. A shoulder belt was connected to that protector. Sling swivel fasteners – probably for small firearms – were visible on the belt, too. I could also see a cord connected to their back, making their tight waists stand out even more.

The black waist belt with the silver lining looked neat, too. Its buckle was adorned by the same emblem as the one on the right chest.

Is it the symbol of the Hououin family?

On both sides of the waist, attached to the belt, were cases for storing guns and portable rods. The uniform was also equipped with a small bag for carrying cosmetic tools.

Every once in a while, Eva and Kisara took a peek at those womanly utensils. Is it some intuition characteristic of women? At least it looks like they’re curious about the cosmetics of another world.

Scrutinizing Sana-san and Hina-san’s uniforms, I remembered that I had been talking with them in Japanese.

Suddenly, a huge monster appeared in front of us. Its head was a small specter lemur. And although it possessed a pair of tactile organs like they were owned by big butterflies, it didn’t have any ears. Nor did it possess arms. Instead, it had abnormally fat legs and a thick, warped torso.

The torso looked like a thumb while the legs had a skin similar to beach parasols.

Is that also some kind of demon? Is it targeting Rollodeen and us?

Immediately after I brooded about those questions, Rollodeen responded. My partner meowed rhythmically while unleashing countless tentacles from her chest and wings, apparently intent on hunting that weird, gigantic monster.

It seemed as if countless missiles were plunging through the sky, aimed at the monster. No matter how often I witness this spectacle, it’s fascinating and awe-inspiring.

“Divine Beast! Wait! I’ll get that one!” Rotalz yelled while flying close to us.

My partner stopped her tentacles. And after confirming that, Rotalz shouted, “Alright!, full of delight and spirit.

“――” Rotalz invoked a skill while making his huge frame glow.

In the next moment, he charged through the air while making his body spin like a drill with the horn extending from his forehead as an axis.

The pitch-black body of the Darkness Whale sparkled as if forcing the light rays of the sun to gather on him. So he’s transformed himself into a 『Photon Torpedo』, huh?

Given his huge body, him charging like a torpedo was frightening, to say the least. He was also farting as he plunged onwards…

Rollodeen’s eyes appeared to be pinned on Rotalz’s butt. Well, although I’m sharing senses with Rollo right now, I’ve got no clue what she’s looking at.

Rotalz’s shining, prided horn pierced through the monster’s abdomen.

“Fuhahaha――Kisara is stronger than this!”

While yelling that, he churned through the monster’s torso with his horn.

“Gyaaooo――”

The monster scattered its intestines. With its antennas swaying furiously, it counterattacked while screeching. The vertical trenches extending from the base of its two legs all the way to the feet tore open like automatic zippers.

Fangs shaped like hydrothermal vents densely lined up beyond the torn skin. Something similar to hot water that was on fire was suddenly spewed out of those fang vents.

The liquid rained down on Rotalz. But, it didn’t work against him. The surface of Rotalz’s body seemed to possess special aerodynamic characteristics. The burning liquid kept dripping off. A steam-like smoke rose from Rotalz’s shining body.

“As if that would work on me! The fire spat by one of Desra’s gods hurt a lot more――” He shouted loudly as if having turned himself into a megaphone.

Rotalz shook his head up and down, tearing and mixing up the heavy-looking torso of the monster with his horn.

As the monster was whirled around in the air, its blood splashed in all directions. As the wound opened up, starting to look like a huge valley, a waterfall of blood, guts and flesh chunks rained down on Rotalz.

And now that the monster’s belly had been mixed nicely by Rotalz’s horn, the whale opened his huge mouth, and while ferociously roaring, “――I wonder how you gonna taste!”, he tried to swallow the falling, bloodstained monster.

But, as bloody as it might be, the monster still had some life in it.

“Gyuaaaa――”

The antennas on both sides of the lemur-like head gleamed, and the remaining trenches in the skin also ripped apart, allowing thin, ink black, snakey flames to spew out from the tears.

But, none of it worked against Rotalz. He swallowed the monster whole, including the spaghetti-like flames.

Rotalz’s oral area got to be quite tough as well. Then his throat largely expanded like it did when a cobra swallowed down its prey. Immediately following, I heard a gulping sound.

“Nn, nya, nyao~~,” Rollodeen meowed, apparently praising Rotalz.

It’s probably because Rotalz swallowed its prey so magnificently.

At that moment, I could hear an intense sound of my partner’s sharp fangs on her upper and lower jaws gnashing together. It’s probably her mood of acting like a boss.

Anyway, soon Rotalz finished eating the monster which looked like it’d give stomach pains… Isn’t he going to start farting again?

But rather than that, Rotalz seemed still all gung-ho about wanting to go on a rampage, and continued to hunt down monsters.

He didn’t voice out anything like 『Rollodeen only needs to concentrate on flying on a safe trajectory』 or 『It’s my turn to put in some effort』, but I felt like Rotalz’s actions carried that meaning.

Rotalz got a rough way of talking, but…he’s probably got some soft parts to him, seeing how he’s considering Rollodeen like that. He’s a decent bloke.

Though he might be simply thinking that he wants to be spared of being Rollodeen’s playmate…seeing how he occasionally hinted at being courted by Rollodeen…

Rollodeen flew on slowly. Her head was similar to a gigantic, back tiger. Her torso was that of a horse, dragon, griffon, or maybe lion. Well, Rollodeen is a divine beast, so whatever.

Either way, she was gliding through the air like a queen who was dominating all beasts. While growling and extending her tentacles in all directions, she hurled instructions at Rotalz.

Rotalz attacked the sky monsters, resulting in only jellyfish being left.

“Nnn――nyaooo.”

My partner was very happy. I suppose it’s because she always wants to take flight. That’s why I’ll let her enjoy flying as she wants at least at times like now.

『It’ll bee a slight detour on the way to the apple orchard, but don’t worry about it and fly as you please. While at it, you can also clean up the skies over the Sea of Trees』, I passed on to my partner through the rein tentacle.

Of course, Sana-san and Hina-san were on Rollodeen’s back as well. So flying restfully and stably was of utmost importance.

Rollodeen understood my feelings on the matter, and after meowing curtly, she purred at me with a throaty voice as if looking to be pampered. Moreover, she moved her head diagonally above, trying to take a look at me. At the same time, several small tentacles extended from the lower neck, touching my cheeks.

“Nn, how nice. Rollo-chan, acting spoiled,” said Eva with a smile next to me.

She extended a finger and poked one of the small tentacles caressing my cheeks, before touching it.

“Hehe,” chuckled Kisara.

Kisara was sitting on her spear like a proper witch would sit on her broom.

“…Shuuya-sama, you look like you are having fun.”

I nodded at her observation.

For a while, I left everything up to Rollo’s will as we flew through the sky. Stooping over, I stroked the head of my partner. My partner had properly protected Hina-san and Sana-san with her tentacle bone swords and flame breath.

Then again, even my keen partner couldn’t detect the sneak attack by Sardyne who had erased her presence by fusing with a tree.

Honestly…this world sure is vast. There exist sniper-like abilities allowing you to attack from a distance with arrows or pebbles. Different types of mana detection and assaults surpassing human knowledge should exist as well.

I stood up while thinking about all that, and the instant I thought about looking at the sky, Rollodeen manipulated her tentacles and black fur ― probably having guessed my intention ― and lifted them up as a foothold so that I’d be able to enjoy the sky scenery. Or maybe as a lookout for reconnaissance.

“Thanks, Rollo.”

“Nyao.”

I got on the pedestal on the back of her head, and checked the area around us. It made me feel as if I was owning the cool and clear sky.

At first it was a fy, cloudless sky, but…at some point, the number of cloud schlieren started to increase. Was it influenced by Rollodeen’s eyes? No, that can’t be.

And then I spotted the battle between Hoffmann and the divine forces. They were quite far away, beyond Mt. Baldok… I’d say, southeast of the Sea of Trees.

I could see blood spraying like fickle fireworks. Sounds of explosions intermittently echoed through the mountains.

“Nn, divine domain forces superior? The Buu-san people you mentioned before, Shuuya.”

“Their heads with the golden halos stand out, but I can’t tell the details of the battle since it’s too far away.”

“Shuuya-sama, look over here…”

“Yeah, the ones fighting are a flock of dragons…and a bear, bird, or octopus?”

I pointed a finger while agreeing with Kisara and following her eyes. Beyond my fingertip fought dragons and a huge monster that seemed to bine a big bear and bird.

The bird bear brandished its claws while roaring. One of the dragons answered its cry.

While roaring itself, it swung the claws extending from its arm, repelling the bird bear’s claws. Bird bear and a dragon grappled and bit each other’s bodies. Probably being the stronger one between the two, the dragon used its tail to unleash a ferocious blow against the bird bear’s torso.

“It looks like a bear’s torso, but…”

“Dokoko-san…no, have you ever seen such a huge bear flying around somewhere? The wings on its back look like those of a falcon.”

“…If it’s an ape man with such wings, I’ve seen it before. But, a bear with wings is a first! That might be Bear King Gyuondan. He was mentioned in the monster book.”

e to think of it, Eva did possess such a book.

“I happened to hear that name as well. A desert king bear also inhabited the Great Goldix Desert. Just like the large scorpion soldiers and big frog dragons, it preferred worm children. And, the adult worms, who rampaged after having their children eaten up, became a huge danger for all inhabitants of the desert.”

“Hee.”

Survival of the fittest applies everywhere, I guess.

Thereupon, Rollodeen urged me to hunt and play through her tentacle, but since we got Hina-san and Sana-san with us, I told her to continue with the relaxed flight without eating any bears.

In the meantime, I’ll check my abilities. Support Us!
