Chapter 187: Ch 187: The B-class Dungeon- Part 1

Henry let out an amused laugh as he walked away from the locked room, rubbing his hands together in satisfaction.

The fool had walked right into his trap.

Reaching into his ragged coat, he pulled out a battered communicator, its screen flickering dimly. His fingers moved with practiced ease as he dialed a number, and when the line connected, he kept his voice low.

"I got her."

Silence.

Then, a deep, amused chuckle rumbled from the other end.

[Good. Keep her there. We’ll co and collect her soon.]

Henry grinned, already imagining the hefty reward he’d get for this.

Maybe even a higher position among the suppliers. If he played his cards right, he could finally crawl out of the filth of this place.

"Oh, don’t worry. She’s not going anywhere—"

"Whatcha talking about?"

A voice suddenly spoke up right behind him.

Henry’s entire body stiffened.

Slowly, carefully, he turned his head—only to co face-to-face with Ethan.

A shiver crawled down his spine.

Ethan stood there, hands shoved casually into his coat pockets, his golden eyes gleaming with lazy amusent.

The dim lights above barely illuminated his face, casting sharp shadows along his jawline.

But there was sothing far more unnerving about his expression—sothing cold and predatory lurking beneath his otherwise relaxed stance.

Henry took a careful step back, gripping his communicator like a lifeline.

Ethan tilted his head, his smile never wavering.

"I said, who were you talking to just now?"

Henry’s throat went dry.

His pulse pounded against his ribs like a drum.

I have to get out of here.

Without a second thought, he bolted.

Spinning on his heel, he dashed down the hallway, his heartbeat roaring in his ears. He didn’t care where he was running—he just needed to get away.

But before he could take more than a few steps—

BOOM!

The locked door behind him exploded outward.

Splinters of wood and shards of rusted tal rained down around him as the force of the blast sent him staggering forward.

Henry barely had ti to react before Selene stepped through the wreckage, her long coat billowing from the impact.

Dust clung to her dark hair, and her eyes—her furious, piercing eyes—locked onto him with deadly precision.

She looked pissed.

Henry took another step back.

Selene launched forward.

Her fist connected squarely with his jaw.

CRACK.

The world spun.

Pain erupted across Henry’s face as he felt his body hit the ground with a sickening thud.

A sharp ringing filled his ears, and for a mont, he couldn’t tell which way was up. His jaw throbbed so badly he thought she might have dislocated it.

Selene lood over him, shaking out her knuckles.

"That’s for locking

in, idiot."

Ethan let out a low whistle.

"Damn. That looked like it hurt."

Henry could barely manage a groan.

Selene wasn’t done with him. She crouched beside his trembling form, her voice cold.

"Who were you talking to?"

Henry swallowed hard, trying to force out an answer, but his mouth barely moved through the pain.

Ethan crouched beside her, resting his elbow on his knee.

"Yeah, I’d really like to know that too."

Henry squeezed his eyes shut. Damn it.

Selene sighed, rolling her shoulders as if she were already losing patience.

"Figures. You’re useless to ."

Ethan brightened slightly.

"Can I kill him?"

Selene shot him a glare.

"No."

Ethan pouted.

"You never let

have any fun."

Selene ignored him and stood, dusting herself off.

"Let’s go. We need to get what we ca here for."

Ethan blinked, then raised an eyebrow.

"We do? What did we need to get again?"

Selene nodded.

"We just needed a sample of the drug to analyze it and make an antidote."

Ethan smirked, reaching into his coat pocket.

"Oh, then we’re already done."

Selene’s eyes widened as he held up two small packets of white powder.

"...What."

Ethan shrugged.

"Swiped these off a few addicts inside. Thought they might be useful."

Selene exhaled sharply, rubbing her temples.

"You—you—why did you even take them? I never told you to get samples!"

Ethan grinned.

"Secret."

Selene’s eye twitched. She took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly before shaking her head.

"You know what? I don’t want to know."

Ethan chuckled, slipping the packets back into his coat.

As they stepped out of the base, the cool night air hit them, washing away the heavy scent of sweat and chemicals from the underground den.

Ethan stole a glance at Selene’s expression.

She looked... tense.

That wasn’t like her.

His playful smirk faded slightly.

"You’re worried about sothing."

Selene hesitated before finally admitting,

"It’s about the next dungeon raid."

Ethan’s gaze sharpened.

"What about it?"

Selene exhaled slowly, her fingers curling slightly at her sides.

"This dungeon... it’s different. I have a bad feeling about it."

The rare uncertainty in her voice made sothing cold settle in Ethan’s stomach.

Selene was the kind of person who rushed headfirst into battle without hesitation. If she was feeling uneasy about this...

Then sothing big was coming.

______

Selene and Ethan moved swiftly through the streets, their pace quick but controlled.

The city lights flickered overhead, casting a dim glow on their path as they finally approached their ho base.

Before they even reached the entrance, Zara rushed toward them, her expression tense with urgency.

"Selene! Ethan! Sothing big just happened."

She called out, slightly out of breath.

Selene exchanged a glance with Ethan before turning her full attention to Zara.

"What is it?"

Zara took a deep breath before blurting out.

"A new B-class dungeon has erged. But no one’s allowed inside yet."

Selene’s expression remained unreadable.

"They locked it down?"

Zara nodded.

"The governnt has sealed off the entire area. No raids, no scouting missions—nothing. They’re keeping it under tight security until they figure out a plan."

Ethan let out an unimpressed huff.

"That’s a little excessive, isn’t it? We’ve handled dungeons before. What’s the big deal?"

Zara shook her head.

"This isn’t just any dungeon, Ethan. It’s the first B-class dungeon to ever erge. No one knows what’s inside, and they don’t want to take any chances."
