"It is not like we ourselves cannot cook. Moreover, a large group of useless people is definitely going to consu a lot of resources. So, it is way better if we get people that are going to be useful for us to spend the resources on them." A stoic voice echoed.

Everyone turned around and realized that a group had arrived. The one that was in the lead was Olivia, who was walking side by side with Diana. Behind them, there was Adam and Sarah, followed by a group of n and won.

The mont that Jasmine saw them, she knew that it was finally ti for her to go to the territory. She had already joined, and had used the favor from the territory. That implied that, she was not supposed to leave the territory, unless she had contributed to the territory.

Maxwell on the other hand did not know who these people were. But, considering the terrifying aura that was surrounding them, he could tell that they were not simple. Additionally, he felt that, the majority of them were stronger than his daughter.

But at least, he didn’t feel any malicious intent coming from them. It was obvious that, they did not co here with the intention of harming anybody.

"Who are you guys?" Maxwell asked. To say the least, he was completely displeased by the fact that Olivia had just said that the people that he was trying to stand up for were useless.

"Dad, they are also part of the territory that I was telling you about." Jasmine replied to the question instead. After that, she looked at Olivia and said, "We should be ready to depart in 5 minutes."

"Okay. But you will have to hurry up. We are being needed back in the territory as soon as possible." Olivia replied.

Jasmine nodded in response. After that, she looked at her father and said, "Father, you have to make a decision right now. We have to go to the territory, and you will have to abandon the rest. At least, you have already done a lot for them by allowing them to stay here, and providing them with food."

"I cannot just abandon them here. That is completely inhumane. You are my daughter, and I believe that you understand that..." Maxwell replied. He was completely unwilling to let the people here continue staying without protection.

Additionally, other than the adults that were currently here, there were even children in this place. If they too were left behind, then, they were going to be in danger.

"This is the apocalypse. It is the ti that everyone is for themselves. If you continue caring much about others, you might end up dead without even knowing how you died." Olivia stated from the side.

Maxwell knew that what Olivia had said was the truth. But still, he was unwilling to agree that. After all, the changes have just happened so suddenly, that it was difficult for the majority of the people to cope up.

"What about the children? You cannot be expecting them to take care of themselves in this apocalypse, right?" Maxwell took a deep breath and asked.

Currently, he knew that he was at a complete disadvantage. Even though it was true that he was the governor, currently, the title of a governor did not hold much. In front of Olivia’s group, he was no different from just a normal old man.

When Olivia heard that, she frowned. After all, even though she was indifferent to the other adults that were currently hiding, and considered them as leeches, the sa could not be said about the children.

For them to be in front of a monster, that was sothing that could tornt them for the rest of their lives. So, it was obvious that they were not capable of taking care of themselves.

But, she was not the one who could make the decisions on whether they were going to bring back the children or not. So, she looked at Diana, and Diana imdiately nodded her head.

Using the telepathic connection that she had with Henry, she inford him of the situation that they were currently in. And after a while, she received a response from him.

"Master said that we can bring the children of age of thirteen and below. As for the rest, they can be left to fate." Diana said to Olivia.

Olivia nodded her head, before looking at Maxwell. "You have heard her. Only those that are below the age of 13 are allowed to co with us."

Maxwell wanted to complain. But, looking at the expressions on their faces, he knew that Olivia and the rest were definitely not going to agree. After all, it could already be considered a favor or lenient of them to allow the children to co with them, even though they were going to be a burden.

"What about the old?" Maxwell asked reluctantly.

"What does that have to do with us? At least the children are the future. But for the old, they have already lived for a long ti. Let their children take care of them." Olivia replied.

Maxwell was just about to complain about how the old did not make any mistake to deserve this, but, he was stopped by Jasmine.

She had already been inford of the rules by Henry. The territory did not recruit anybody that was considered useless. The old were not considered valuable as long as they were not mutant warriors. So, she believed that that Henry was not going to accept them, and it was already a surprise to her that he had accepted the children.

At least now, she believed that Henry and the rest were not a group of heartless people. It was just that, in the apocalypse, it was the ti for everyone to be selfish.

Otherwise, just thinking of her brother, it was a good example of how the human nature was. If they carried useless people, those useless people might be the ones that would end up dragging them onto the ground.

Maxwell could only shake his head. After that, he turned around and looked at the group of the previous rich n and won.

"Ladies and gentlen. I hope that you can forgive but I will have to inform you that I am about to depart from here. You have to depend on yourselves to survive, as in this apocalypse, it is everyone for themselves." Maxwell said.

"What do you an? We elected you as our governor, but now, you want to abandon us?"

"That’s right! That is so irresponsible of you. Once everything returns to normal, I will make sure that I make a court appeal about the decision that you are making now."

"How dare you beco so selfish? We have already been providing for the country, by paying the taxes. It was our tax that was used to pay your salary, ensuring that you lived a luxurious life. But now, you want to abandon us simply because we cannot provide much for you now?"

"Damn it! I wish I could have co with my gun. I would have already shot this guy dead..."

As people began complaining, they completely forgot about the intimidation that Diana had given them. Now, there were even so of them that were actually moving forward, trying to reach the governor.

But before they could do that, the person who was in the lead, the one who had said that he could have shot the governor dead had he carried his own gun, was suddenly killed by an arrow into his forehead.

He was not the only one, as everyone else that had threatened to do sothing, was killed by Diana one after the other.

Everything happened so fast that, by the ti that the rest of them began reacting, it was when the dead bodies were dropping onto the ground one after the other.

Silence imdiately dominated the room. Nobody tried to make any noise again. Instead, they looked at Diana who was putting away the bow, in fear.

Maxwell didn’t like seeing the blood that was on the ground, but he knew that, there was no any other way that they were going to control this group of unruly people.

After everyone had finally cald down, Diana took a step forward and said, "We have already made the decision. We own the territory, and we decide on who is going to go with us. As for you lot, unless you have beco mutant warriors, don’t bother trying to think about joining the territory. And, not just any mutant warrior can join our territory."

Diana’s words were t by silence. Even though the majority of the people present really wanted to complain, but, they were afraid that the mont that they opened their months, they would be shot dead.

With that, Olivia looked at Jasmine and said, "Make arrangents for the children to co over as soon as possible. We don’t have much ti to continue staying here. It seems that there is sothing urgent that has happened, and we are needed back in the territory."

Jasmine nodded her head. After that, she imdiately rushed towards the area that the rest of the civilians were hiding. Arthur and the rest followed her, just to ensure her security. After all, nobody could guarantee that the other civilians would not attack Jasmine the mont that they heard the news that she had to deliver.

Adam followed them as well. Even though he did not say much, just like Henry, he also thought that this was the right choice to make. Moreover, they had been taking care of themselves since they were 10, so, he did not think that Henry’s decision to take only those that were 13 and below of age was wrong.

Maxwell shook his head helplessly. He felt that, as a governor, he had failed. At the end of the day, in the apocalypse, everything that he previously possessed, the authority and so on, was completely useless.

Now, if he wanted to ensure the safety of his family, then, he had to join another person’s territory, and beco a subordinate.
