"Sis, make a wish."
Nancy Miller lit the candle and reminded Holly Sawyer.
Holly locked her fingers together, positioned them under her chin, and gently closed her eyes.
The candlelight kept flickering, and Holly’s lips curled slightly.
She hoped...
The first person that ca to her mind was Leo Grant.
She hoped the days would pass more slowly and her leaving could be delayed, allowing her more ti with Leo.
"Sis, you can blow out the candle now."
After making her wish, Nancy prompted Holly to blow out the candle.
This was actually Nancy’s first ti celebrating soone’s birthday, and she felt quite happy.
Holly blew out the candle, and then it was ti to cut the cake.
Even though this year’s birthday felt a bit quieter, Holly found it very heartwarming.
In the past, birthday celebrations had always been lively with lots of people, but Holly never felt they were particularly aningful.
"Here you go, it’s autumn now and winter is not far off, so this scarf can co in handy."
Wendy Wright handed Holly a beautifully wrapped scarf, looking at her with a warm smile.
A beige scarf without much decoration, simple yet ticulously crafted, with an excellent sense of texture.
"This was hand-knitted by my mom."
Nancy added.
"Thank you, Auntie."
Warmth spread across Holly’s face as she smiled, feeling a gentle warmth in her heart.
Although the scarf wasn’t sothing precious, it was hand-knitted by Wendy Wright, giving it a unique significance.
A thoughtfully prepared gift.
"After autumn, winter will soon be here, and it’s very cold in Bexley during that ti, so keep warm."
Wendy thoughtfully reminded her.
In Arkenfall, it’s like spring all year round without extrely hot sumrs or harsh winters, with really nice weather conditions.
Holly nodded to show she understood, "Mm, mm, I know."
The winters in Bexley are indeed cold, transitioning quickly from autumn, with biting winds.
Holly stayed at Nancy Miller’s house for quite a while; it was getting late, and she planned to leave. She took out her phone and noticed Leo Grant hadn’t replied to her ssage.
Leo hadn’t replied to her.
Why didn’t he reply?
A hint of loneliness flickered in Holly’s eyes—was Leo so busy that he didn’t have the ti to reply, or had he seen it and chosen not to respond?
Suddenly, Holly felt a little blocked in her chest, a bit uncomfortable, as Leo had always responded to her ssages consistently.
This ti, it had been a very long wait.
"Auntie, Nancy, I’m going to head out first."
Holly tucked her phone into her pocket and spoke softly.
"Sis, I’ll walk you out."
Nancy quickly stood up.
"No need."
Before Nancy could react, Holly had already opened the main door and stepped out. Nancy blinked and followed her out.
She felt sothing was off—Holly’s mood seed a bit different.
Monts ago, she was fine, but now she seed a little upset.
Holly’s spirits were low, and she walked with her head down.
"Holly."
Stepping out the door, a familiar voice ca, gentle and tinged with affection, with a faint trace of amusent in the tone.
Holly looked up in surprise, eting the familiar figure of Leo Grant.
Leo was leaning against the car door, holding a bouquet of flowers, with a gentle smile on his lips.
Leo stood less than two ters from Holly, wearing a white shirt and black trousers, with an extraordinarily gentle smile, almost like an angel who had stumbled into the mortal world, dazzlingly striking.
At that mont, Holly felt as though she was seeing light for the first ti, and her disappointnt dissipated upon seeing Leo.
"Brother."
Holly’s eyes lit up with a smile, she ran towards Leo, her voice sweet as honey.
At the mont she saw Leo, she felt a joy she had never experienced before.
Life is long, and she had walked many paths and t many people, but had never anticipated eting soone as much as she did Leo, making him the first.
"Here, for you."
Leo slipped the bouquet of sunflowers into Holly’s arms, the smile on his face unwavering.
Seeing the smile spread across Holly’s face and hearing the sweet call of "Brother" upon seeing him lted Leo’s heart.
"Thank you, Brother."
"Why did you give flowers, Brother?"
"How did you know I was here, Brother?"
Holly tilted her head, blinking gently as she looked innocently at Leo, her voice brimming with curiosity.
Actually, she also wanted to ask why Leo hadn’t replied to her ssages.
"Silly, why didn’t you tell Brother it was your birthday?"
Leo gently ruffled Holly’s hair, his voice carrying warmth as he gazed at her tenderly.
Such a little fool.
If Diana Curtis hadn’t told him, he wouldn’t have known when Holly’s birthday was, and he might have missed celebrating it with her.
"Huh?"
Holly was a bit puzzled, looking at Leo with confusion.
How did Leo know today was her birthday?
"You didn’t want Brother to celebrate your birthday, hmm?"
Leo slightly bent down to be at eye level with Holly, prolonging the end of his sentence.
"I didn’t."
Holly shook her head; she just didn’t know how to tell Leo—it didn’t seem quite appropriate.
Her current situation was just soone whom Leo found—a "little darling" with amnesia.
"How about Brother celebrates with you, hmm?"
Leo looked at Holly warmly and curled his lip into a slight smile.
Almost instinctively, Holly nodded.
"I hope you can be like a sunflower, happy every day without worry."
Leo curled his lips into a slight smile, his gentle gaze resting on Holly.
His little girl should be happy and carefree every day.
Sunflowers symbolize more than one thing: you are the one my heart desires, and my heart will always follow you.
Also, there’s the saying, "No others in sight, all around is just you."
The little girl had already taken up residence in his heart.
A flower doesn’t have just one aning; its symbolism can vary greatly depending on your intentions.
The aning depends on how you choose to apply it.
"Mm, mm."
Holly nodded, her face full of joy.
A flower blooming towards the sun is as radiant as sunshine, filled with sunlight’s warmth in its colors.
With the sunflowers in her arms, Holly buried her face into them, catching the sweet scent of sunflowers.
It wasn’t the sunflowers that were sweet but her heart that felt sweet.
"Co on, let Brother celebrate your birthday."
Leo led Holly by the hand into the car, and Holly behaved particularly obediently.
Nancy, worried about Holly, followed them out, and upon seeing the scene, instantly felt stepping out was a mistake.
This dose of public affection was a bit overbearing for her.
