The snacks and drinks prepared by Nanny Zhang for their picnic were more of light bites and refreshnts, not enough to fill them up. So, after sunset, the two found a nearby restaurant to have dinner. Fortunately, many restaurants in the area were pet-friendly, allowing them to bring Tang Yuan inside.

As soon as they entered the restaurant, Nian Suian spotted a familiar face. Though they weren’t exactly friends—strictly speaking, they were strangers—Nian Suian had always kept her in mind. She never expected to see her again.

It was Wen He. Back at the mall, Nian Suian had hesitated and missed the chance to tell her about what she had overheard at the cinema. She had often thought about it since then but had never run into her again.

With this in mind, Nian Suian tugged at Gu Junxing and sat at the empty table next to the woman. After sitting down, she feigned surprise and said, “What a coincidence! We’ve run into each other again.”

At first, the woman didn’t recognize her. She looked at Nian Suian with confusion before finally recalling who she was.

“You’re the girl from the mall. I rember you—you bought the sa outfit as Xin Xin.”

“Yes, that’s . What a small world! Are you here alone?” As she spoke, Nian Suian quickly glanced at the woman’s hand and noticed a ring on her middle finger. Unsure how to broach the subject, she resorted to small talk.

“No, I’m waiting for my boyfriend to get off work and join .”

Since they were rely acquaintances, Nian Suian couldn’t think of much else to say. She opened her phone, intending to tell Gu Junxing about the situation, but instead found a barrage of ssages from Gu Zhijing.

She opened the chat with Gu Junxing and explained that the woman they had just t was the sa one she had ntioned before—the one involved in the incident she had overheard.

When Nian Suian had initially pulled him to sit there, Gu Junxing had already sensed sothing was off. Normally, she preferred sitting by the window or in a corner when dining out, not next to other custors when there were plenty of empty tables.

[She said she’s waiting for her boyfriend. Later, listen carefully to see if it’s the sa voice you heard at the cinema before you confirm anything.]

Nian Suian didn’t have a better plan. Everyone’s voice was unique, and if she heard the sa one again, she might recognize it.

However, even after Nian Suian and Gu Junxing finished their al, the so-called “boyfriend” never showed up.

“Let’s head back,” Nian Suian said, glancing at Wen He, who was now looking down at her phone, lost in thought.

She wanted to say sothing but ultimately held back. Before leaving, though, she asked the front desk for a pen and paper, scribbled a few words, and handed it to the waiter.

“Please give this to the lady in the blue dress over there.”

With that done, Nian Suian left, unsure if her actions would make a difference. But even if there was the slightest chance, it was worth it.

Once in the car, Nian Suian rembered she hadn’t responded to Gu Zhijing’s ssages. She had seen his complaints earlier but forgotten to reply.

“Gu Junxing, your son says we’ve abandoned him and demands compensation for emotional distress,” Nian Suian said, trying to stifle her laughter as she read his ssages aloud.

“But how does he even know we went out?”

At that mont, neither of them was aware that photos of their afternoon outing had gone viral on social dia.

“He probably found out from Nanny Zhang or Butler Su. Don’t worry about him,” Gu Junxing replied, feeling that his son was becoming increasingly spoiled and entitled.

Nian Suian couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for the kid, so she transferred him 5,000 yuan.

She was starting to realize that Gu Zhijing had a knack for burning through money. Despite his generous monthly allowance, he always claid to be broke. She had no idea where all his money went. Thankfully, his father was well-off; otherwise, raising him would be a challenge for most families.

“Mr. Gu Junxing, may I ask how it feels not to be working today?” Nian Suian playfully held her fist up like a microphone, bringing it close to Gu Junxing’s mouth.

“Not working and having Ms. Nian Suian by my side feels wonderful,” Gu Junxing replied, keeping his eyes on the road, his tone as serious as ever, even when flirting.

“Mr. Gu Junxing, please refrain from flirting with this reporter. Maintain so professionalism.”

Gu Junxing chuckled and played along with the role-play. As they stopped at a red light, he grabbed Nian Suian’s hand and kissed it. “I don’t just want to flirt with Reporter Nian; I want to date her. Will Reporter Nian include this in her article?”

Caught off guard by his boldness, Nian Suian’s competitive spirit was ignited. Seeing the light turn green, she pulled her hand away and teasingly ran it over his thigh.

“This reporter won’t just write about it; she’ll also flirt with Mr. Gu.”

With the light now green, Gu Junxing couldn’t reach for her hand, but he gave her a smile that sent a shiver down her spine.

It wasn’t until later that night that Nian Suian realized the consequences of provoking him.

“Gu Junxing… please…” Nian Suian’s hands gripped his hair tightly before weakly letting go.

Her legs were completely under his control.

“Hmm…”

“What did you call ?”

Gu Junxing lifted his head to speak, but Nian Suian only felt a deeper emptiness, a craving she couldn’t ignore.

“Husband~”

At this point, Nian Suian was willing to do whatever it took to get what she wanted.

Gu Junxing propped himself up and whispered in her ear, “What do you want to do? If you don’t say it, I won’t know.”

Though he usually carried himself with dignity, in monts like these, Gu Junxing loved hearing her say things that made her blush.

That night, after returning ho, Nian Suian had just stepped out of the shower when she found Gu Junxing already lying on her bed in his robe.

Before she could even say a word, he had her pinned down.

After what felt like the umpteenth ti, sensing that Gu Junxing wasn’t done, Nian Suian protested, “Did you lie about your age?!”

“Thank you for the complint.”

“No… that wasn’t a complint!”

“Be good… just one last ti.”
