The Shadow of a Luna Chapter 48

TESSA POV

I had been slipping in and out of consciousness for a couple of days now while my body tried to nd from the poisons. And the morning that I did wake up and I felt completely lucid it took several minutes for everything to register. The attack at ho, being shot and poisoned and kidnapped.

I looked around the room that I was in. It was pretty basic for a mansion that we were in. There was only a bed and a single chair across the room from . I felt a sharp pain around my ankle and I looked down to see the silver shackle around my leg that was attached to the bed.

I started kicking my leg. Trying to get it to break the bed leg but I wasn’t strong enough yet. Then I heard the door handle turning and I shimmied back against the back of the bed and I rested my hands over my stomach.

A man walked in, who was obviously a vampire, and he turned the light on but it was still pretty dull.

"Relax. I’m not going to hurt you. I promise. My na is Sawyer." He says coming inside with a tray of food and he closed the door. He approached slowly and put the food next on the bed but I was obviously hesitant about taking it.

"You need to eat. You’re pregnant." He says.

"You think I don’t know that." I spat at him.

"Keep your voice down. You don’t want those other n to hear you, do you?" He asked. " I need to check your injuries. Is that alright with you?" He asked.

"Is this so sort of dumb trick? Get to trust you and give you all the secrets for that bitch to take out my pack?" I asked accusingly.

"No. I promise. I am not here because I want to be. But now that she has you, I’m glad that I am. I don’t want her to hurt you or your baby. I know who you are. I heard the others talking. I also knew Josiah. I really wish I didn’t, but unfortunately I did." He explains.

"Angelo killed Josiah. I don’t know why he still wanted after I told him that I couldn’t have pups. The guy was twisted." I say.

"Yeah. Especially since you’re his niece." Sawyer says as he started checking my shoulder wound. But as soon as he said that I pulled away from him.

"What did you just say?" I asked.

"What?" He asked confused.

"Josiah was my uncle?" I asked.

"Oh my god. I thought you knew. He was Angelo’s brother. But he went off the rails and didn’t want anything to do with the rest of the family and he hooked up with Katherine and them two were inseparable." Sawyer explained.

"How long were they together?" I asked as he started looking at my shoulder wound again.

"About 550 years. Give or take. I’m not too sure." He says.

"Is she going to kill once I have my baby? The n said that they wanted my baby." I say.

"I don’t know what her plans are for that. She doesn’t share that shit with ." He says.

"Why not? You’re in her inner circle." I say.

"No. I’m not. Katherine is insane. And I’m only here because she has got people watching so human’s that I have co to care about. And if I don’t do what she says that she’s gonna order their deaths." Sawyer says. But I look at him skeptically.

"I don’t bla you for not trusting . But you do need to trust when I say that I have to change these bandages." He says.

"Alright." I say. So he grabbed so other supplies from the tray that he bought in and he pulled off the wound dressings and he cleaned it out again which made hiss in pain. And he recovered it.

"They are healing. But slowly. They will definitely leave scars." He says.

"I know. Silver always does with us." I say. Then the door opened and one of the big scary vampires was standing there.

"Ti’s up." He demanded.

"What’s his problem?" I asked.

"Who knows. Probably needs to get laid." Sawyer says and I giggle at that. But the other man scowled at Sawyer. " Eat. You need your strength." Sawyer says as he stood up and left the room and the other man shut the door behind them.

So I picked up a piece of toast and I found so paper underneath it. And I picked it up slowly and unfolded it.

Whatever you do, don’t use your magic. She has a witch downstairs that can sense when you do. They will sedate you and keep you that way until you give birth. Your mate will have no chance of finding you if that happens.

It wasn’t signed and I don’t know why, it was just a gut feeling, but I knew that it was Sawyer that left the note. I just knew that it was. He was warning . I guess he doesn’t want to be sedated during my whole pregnancy. Which ans he probably does know what’s going to happen to after I give birth. He just didn’t want to tell .

Would Josiah ever be out of my life?

TYLER POV

I had been running all day and much of the night with Cade and Carter when I noticed that they were getting further and further behind . So we stopped and set up camp in the woods. Luckily Cade thought to grab the ergency bag of clothing that we had for ergencies like this. And our phones because Angelo started calling .

"What is it?" I asked.

"A friend of mine just tried to do a located spell. It didn’t work. Which ans that sothing is blocking the signal." Angelo says.

"Another witch?" I asked.

"Most likely. But we’re out now looking at so of these houses that are in foreclosure. The ones that we can get to and then get back to your packhouse before the sunrises." Angelo says.

"Send a text ssage of the mansions that you can’t get to. We can go from there at first light. We’ve stopped to rest for a bit." I explained.

"Alright. I’ll text you when we get back to the packhouse." Angelo says. And I hung up.

It was really strange not feeling Tessa anymore. I couldn’t feel anything from her. I was so used to having her emotions flooding through , and lately they were nothing but happy feelings. She was happy and excited to have a baby. But then she called and asked to co ho because she knew that sothing was wrong.

Why the fuck didn’t I listen to her? Her instincts are never wrong. Her gut feelings are never wrong. I should have co ho when she asked to. They were so prepared. She knew that sothing bad was going to happen and I just ignored her. How the fuck could I be so stupid.

"Stop beating yourself up." Cade says from the other side of the campfire.

"What?" I asked.

"I know that look on your face. You’re blaming yourself for this. It’s not your fault. This Katherine bitch had it planned down to every detail. Even attacking a neighboring pack to get us out of the territory." Cade explained.

"Tessa called the morning before she was taken. She asked to co ho. She told that she knew sothing was going to happen. That sothing bad was going to happen and she asked to co ho. I told her that I couldn’t because I had made a promise to Alpha Ryan. So yeah, I can beat myself up for this. I should have been there." I explain.

"Why didn’t you tell us about that phone call? Tell about that phone call?" Carter asked.

"I don’t know. I posted guards at the packhouse and told you to increase patrols. I thought that would do it." I say.

"That’s why you had do all that stuff. Because she called you. I didn’t know that." Carter says then also looking very guilty.

"I should have told you. We all know that her instincts are always right. But this is definitely on ." I say.

"We will find her." Cade says.

"If this is about Josiah then I have a feeling that this bitch probably wants to finish what Josiah started. The baby." I say. And they both shut up after that. It obviously never occurred to them that she wanted the baby. And then what did that an for Tessa when she gives birth. Are they going to kill her.

The only thing Tessa has on her side right now is ti. She’s not due for another 12 weeks. That’s if Katherine waits that long. They can induce labor early if she really wanted to. The baby could survive being born a couple weeks early. I’ve read everything there is on pregnancy ever since Tessa told that she was pregnant. I’ve been to all of her appointnts. I know all this stuff. And I know that Tessa could be in serious trouble if we can’t find her.
