They might beco bargaining chips for the other side.
"I know," Ge Hong nodded and said, "We still need to accelerate the research on the Super Energy Weapon."
But research is not sothing that can be completed in a short ti, even if so results are achieved, mass production of superpower weapons also requires ti.
It's basically impossible to finish in a short amount of ti.
Moreover, the Divine Sword Bureau has limited manpower.
"Xu Mo, don't go out recently, and the sa goes for your friends, keep them all inside the Divine Sword Bureau," Ge Hong told Xu Mo. Ye Qingdie had a superpower weapon, which might make her a target, and it was extrely risky to go out.
"Understood," Xu Mo nodded.
The power of the superpower weapons was tested before and was found to be extrely strong; he hadn't expected their lethality to be so terrifying on the battlefield, and there were still many of them on the warship. He and Ye Xi couldn't carry out too many at once.
He also wanted to visit the Qiong Master, and if possible, take another trip out to sea to bring back more equipnt, to arm the people at the Divine Sword Bureau and create a superpower-ard force.
However, were all the people at the Divine Sword Bureau reliable?
Xu Mo wasn't sure, and if a traitor got their hands on a superpower weapon, it could pose a great threat.
If superpower weapons were used for a sneak attack, it's feared that no one could withstand them.
......
At the President's Mansion, Federation President Conrad was convening an ergency eting of the council.
At that mont, the doors to the council were pushed open. Everyone in the council chamber frowned; what were the guards outside doing, letting soone barge in during such an important eting?
However, when they turned their heads and saw who had co in, they imdiately fell silent.
A procession of people marched in, led by an Elder with a commanding presence, surrounded by others who all possessed extraordinary deanors.
Imdiately, people in the council chamber began to stand up one after another, clearly recognizing who the newcors were.
The group walked directly to the front row, and President Conrad walked down from the platform, ca before the Elder, and bowed respectfully, saying, "Elder Xiang."
"Please, continue," Elder Xiang spoke.
Conrad nodded, and the eting resud.
Elder Xiang and the mbers of the Xiang Family listened quietly from below; not only did mbers of the Xiang Family co, but several major families of the Federation were present that day as well.
"After several centuries, the Federation faces a war crisis once again. Lancelot Star has declared it will send warships to Byron Star. So propose war while others suggest negotiation," Conrad began. "What are your views on this?"
"The Lancelot Star People committed a massacre of civilians in Chuanxing City of Byron Star, what room is there for negotiation? Declare a warti state," a person in military uniform spoke up.
"Our military strength on Byron Star is not yet sufficiently developed. If we engage in full-scale war with Lancelot Star, I'm afraid it will end up much like it did centuries ago—I suggest negotiations," another person said.
"How do we negotiate, and with what do we negotiate?" the military man challenged.
"Have we forgotten the lessons of the war centuries ago? Even if we can repel Lancelot Star in this war, Byron Star will be greatly weakened. Besides, Monsters might be able to threaten our cities."
"Furthermore, if we lose, we may have to walk the sa path we did centuries ago."
Sounds of debate filled the council chamber, making it clear that consensus was far from being reached.
War concerns the fate of everyone.
The hardliners want to wage war, but there are just as many who oppose it.
Once war breaks out, the consequences are unpredictable.
Everyone could face the risk of death.
War does not care who you are, what your status is, those in power, many are unwilling to wage war, of course, so are considering the vast difference in strength between both parties.
"Peace talks, how do you plan to negotiate?" At that mont, a voice interrupted the council proceedings, Elder Xiang sat in the front row, speaking coldly, imdiately silencing the assembly.
Everyone here knew that Elder Xiang had always been a hardliner.
The ancestors of the Xiang Family had established the era of the Federation, setting Byron Star on the right path, but now, much like in the past, it faced a new threat from an alien race.
"With what shall we negotiate?" Elder Xiang stood up, turned around, his gaze sweeping across the crowd, his eyes shining with a compelling sharpness, and he exuded a powerful aura of authority.
Even so, there were still people who spoke up, "The Lancelot Star People are demanding the extradition of Xu Mo, and moreover, this incident was provoked by Xu Mo himself. If not for him starting the war, there would still be room for easing the situation. But if Xu Mo is turned over willingly, it's not the doing of the Federation Governnt..."
He had not yet finished speaking when he was interrupted by a cold snort from Elder Xiang.
"According to your logic, when the Lancelot Star People comnce slaughter on Byron Star, we should apologize and hand over people as if presenting a gift, compensating the Lancelot Star People for their losses, right?" Elder Xiang's voice roared like thunder in the other man's mind, causing him to turn ashen, his head shaking violently as blood trickled from his nose.
His body trembled continuously, wanting to say sothing, but he did not dare to speak.
"Elder Xiang, there is indeed a huge disparity between the Federation Governnt and the Lancelot Star, if we hastily go to war, the Federation stands no chance," soone stood up and spoke.
Elder Xiang's expression was grave; although he was forceful, he was not ignorant of the disparity in strength between the two sides. It was for this reason that he had always tacitly approved of all the actions of the Divine Sword Bureau, advocating for peaceful developnt.
But now, with those alien races already beginning their massacre, what choice was there besides war?
"Mr. President, what do you think?" Elder Xiang looked towards Conrad and asked.
"We start with peace talks, to see the terms Lancelot Star puts forth. If they are too oppressive, then waging war will be our only option," Conrad replied.
Elder Xiang fell silent for a mont, then turned to the people by his side and asked, "What do you think?"
"There's no other choice," another elder spoke up, and the rest nodded in agreent. At this point, there really wasn't much of a choice left.
"Announce that the Federation is entering a state of war, also, have the diplomatic side go to the Star System Alliance and relay all the facts about what happened on Byron Star, buying us so ti," Elder Xiang declared.
He knew that as long as the Star System Alliance was involved, Lancelot Star wouldn't dare to act recklessly or violate the Alliance's covenant, but if Byron Star were to be expelled from the Star System Alliance, it would likely be the beginning of an invasion war.
By then, Lancelot Star wouldn't hold back, and even other planets might take part in the conflict.
"Elder Xiang, about the Divine Sword Bureau..." Conrad continued, "The superpower weapon brought back by Xu Mo, if it can be mass-produced, would have extraordinary significance for Byron Star, and it could even possibly lead to victory over Lancelot Star in the war, but..."
The Federation Governnt had no authority to intervene in the operations of the Divine Sword Bureau.
"Ge Hong is not one to be ignorant of the bigger picture. I will send soone with the Federation Governnt's team to the Divine Sword Bureau, expediting the process," Elder Xiang spoke, "With the Federation entering a state of war, the Federation Army will be directed by the President's Mansion, the rest of the matters will be a heavy burden on Mr. President."
"As the President of Byron Star, I have a duty to protect Byron Star," Conrad said somberly, saluting Elder Xiang, "For the sake of the Federation."
Elder Xiang returned the salute, and instantly, everyone in the council stood up and saluted as well, saying in unison, "For the sake of the Federation."
Elder Xiang left the President's Mansion, and the Federation Governnt officially announced that the Byron Star Federation Governnt, had entered a state of war, with all military forces required to follow the Federation Governnt's commands!
