Chapter 27: Chapter 23 Cobra

Xu Mo reacted, and the two of them sprinted forward, a group of people imdiately chasing after them.

The Black Market Casino was already full of desperados, madn who valued money over their lives.

The two quickly dove into the streets of the black market, where there were many people. They weaved through the crowd, causing chaos as those chasing them also pushed forward. Many were knocked down, cursing loudly.

“Bang, bang!”

Gunshots rang out, screams followed as two pursuers were hit in the legs and fell. The people behind them were thrown into disarray, but so desperados continued to charge forward.

“Bang!”

This ti, a shot hit soone in the head directly, causing them to fall. This finally made many people stop.

“Sister Butterfly.” On the rooftop ahead of Xu Mo, a masked figure appeared. Through the mask, Xu Mo recognized it as the Ghost-faced Man from last ti, though he had changed masks since the church escape.

“Watch out!” Xu Mo suddenly shouted, pulling Ye Qingdie to the left to dodge.

“Bang, bang!” Two gunshots nearly overlapped, hitting people in the street ahead. Three figures erged behind Xu Mo and Ye Qingdie, two holding guns.

The Ghost-faced Man on the rooftop fired both guns simultaneously, two bullets slicing through the air to explode the heads of the two gunn.

After the two gunn fell, a man wearing glasses stepped forward—it was the gold-rimd glasses man. He squinted his eyes and flicked his arm, sending a dozen tallic playing cards flying like blades toward Xu Mo and the others.

These playing cards were silver, made of tal, extrely thin but incredibly sharp at high speeds, no less powerful than bullets.

The Ghost-faced Man was forced to retreat, trying to shoot, but the cards’ edge-on flight made them hard to hit, so he had to quickly dodge.

Xu Mo and Ye Qingdie were forced into a nearby shop, hidden from sight.

Xu Mo heightened his senses to the maximum, everything around him beca crystal clear. He could see the gold-rimd glasses man holding a stack of silver tallic cards in his left hand, continuously flinging them with his right hand. The Ghost-faced Man was in extre danger under the threat of the flying cards.

At this mont, Ye Qingdie charged out, pulling the trigger of her gun.

But just as she moved, the gold-rimd glasses man flung out another dozen cards, like a net aid at her.

Xu Mo also moved, hurling three teor Darts as he stepped out.

“Bang!” The gold-rimd glasses man dodged Ye Qingdie’s bullet narrowly, then saw the three hidden weapons shooting towards him. His right hand flicked, launching three cards to intercept them.

Two teor Darts were blocked by the tallic playing cards and fell to the ground, but the last one continued forward, scraping past a card. The gold-rimd glasses man leaned back, narrowly avoiding it, but the dart still cut across his throat.

“How could this be?” His eyes widened in disbelief as he recalled the instant of that mont—the trajectory of the teor Dart shouldn’t have hit him.

The gold-rimd glasses man fell, but the danger wasn’t over. Ye Qingdie fired two more shots, as bullets flew from the others pursuing them.

Realizing that the two gunn had fallen, Xu Mo glanced at Ye Qingdie and said, “Let’s go.”

The two continued running forwards, while the Ghost-faced Man on the roof shot to drive back the pursuers and ran in the sa direction as them.

Behind them, Cobra caught up, seeing his downed subordinates and got a grim look on his face.

“Useless bunch!”

Cobra cursed. As he spoke, his hands and feet started to split, his arms transforming into long chanical scimitars, about the length of two hands, glinting with a cold, white light, terrifyingly sinister.

His chanical legs gripped the ground, slightly bent like springs. In the next mont, Cobra’s body launched forward like a silver lightning bolt.

Xu Mo and Ye Qingdie turned into another road ahead.

“Hurry, Cobra is tough.” Ye Qingdie said. Xu Mo sensed the situation behind them—a figure was racing along the ground, much faster than they were, the chanical limbs scraping against the ground, making a sharp, piercing noise and leaving marks as it went.

“He’s already here.” Xu Mo said, thinking what kind of monster is this guy. He had also seen soone with a chanical arm in the fighting arena before, but it was nowhere this extre.

Ye Qingdie and the Ghost-faced Man soon heard the sound behind them as well. Both turned, firing their pistols precisely, bullets whizzing towards Cobra.

Cobra seed to predict the bullet trajectories, dodging agilely. His flexibility was frightening, and the bullets missed entirely.

But Ye Qingdie and the Ghost-faced Man didn’t stop, continuing to shoot. Cobra’s chanical arm suddenly pierced a bystander’s heart, lifting the person as a at shield, charging forward at high speed towards Xu Mo and the others.

Xu Mo gripped a dart, eyeing the fast-approaching figure. Cobra was very strong, much stronger than the two he had t at the church.

Cobra’s arm moved, cutting the at shield in half. Xu Mo’s teor Dart shot towards Cobra.

But as it got close, Cobra’s chanical scimitar slashed it down, his speed negating any chance Xu Mo had to change its course.

His glasses had fallen onto the bridge of his nose, narrowing his eyes as he stared at the three ahead like a dangerous snake—hence his codena.

Ye Qingdie and the Ghost-faced Man kept their guns trained on Cobra, who moved forward with his chanical legs, still eyeing the three ahead, watching their movents intently.

While his reaction speed was fast, he couldn’t entirely ignore the threat of bullets. If he got hit in the head, he would still die.

Just then, Cobra’s expression changed, looking past Xu Mo and the others at an approaching figure.

Xu Mo also sensed the figure behind them. A tall, slender man, around six feet, wearing a silver tallic mask, with long black hair falling loosely over his shoulders, giving him a dashing appearance.

What surprised Xu Mo even more was that on his back, he carried a sword.

This look was very cool!

“You go on ahead.” The silver-masked man spoke, his voice cold and chanical. As he finished speaking, he charged forward, unsheathing his sword, leaping in the air to strike at Cobra.

“Energy!” Xu Mo’s eyes widened. The sword wasn’t ordinary; he sensed an energy like the electric knife he encountered in the chapel.

Moreover, the sword’s energy was stronger.

This energy was likely Source Power.

“Let’s go.” Ye Qingdie said, stepping back. The three turned and left.

As Xu Mo turned, he kept his senses on the fight behind them. The two were already clashing, the sword and scimitar colliding with a sharp, piercing sound. Cobra’s chanical legs hooked onto the walls on either side, his body parallel to the ground like a real snake.

The three turned through several alleys, people thinning out until no pursuers were left.

Xu Mo glanced down, seeing that Ye Qingdie was still barefoot.

“Exciting.” Ye Qingdie laughed, it was her first ti experiencing such excitent.

“Who is Cobra?” Xu Mo asked.

“A cyborg.” Ye Qingdie explained, “Cobra is ruthless, developing his own faction in the black market, made up of desperados. They are one of the main forces in the black market, committing all sorts of evil, and they play other roles too.”

“What roles?” Xu Mo asked. Xu Mo’s parents should not have offended Cobra. His n must have been sent for other reasons.

“Blades in the hands of certain people.” Ye Qingdie said, and Xu Mo understood. These people must be higher-ups in the Underworld.

“Why are his chanical limbs so flexible?” Xu Mo asked. Cobra controlled his chanical limbs as if they were his own, governed by his nervous system.

The tech in the Underworld didn’t seem advanced, but chanical limbs were common.

“You don’t know?” Ye Qingdie looked at Xu Mo, a bit puzzled by his ignorance.

“Should I know?” Xu Mo replied.

Ye Qingdie smiled, “In the black market, everyone knows the ‘Doctor.’ If you have money, you can buy a new life there. chanical body modifications are common, but different materials cost differently. Cobra has heavily modified himself, his chanical limbs aren’t cheap, and surgeries are incredibly pricey. In the Underworld, money is vital, extrely vital. The Federation credits we just earned will be spent quickly!”

“There is advanced technology in this world.” Xu Mo thought after hearing Ye Qingdie’s explanation.

There were applications of chanical limbs and even Genetic Evolution Liquid.

But Xu Mo sensed that the technology in the Underworld was restricted. The powerful figures likely constrained thoughts and controlled technology.

Was it to guard against organizations like Ye Qingdie’s?
