The vast battlefield was completely enveloped by the standoff between the Southwest Military District and the horde of monsters.

Though it was a large-scale operation, the Southwest Military District astonishingly maintained formation without disarray, advancing as a unit in their attack.

Fighter jets ford up in the sky, firing energy beams, with cha protecting both flanks, armored troops on the ground firing their weapons furiously, and average soldiers in Battle Armor providing covering fire.

They were the most nurous and also the ones who fell the most.

Xu Mo was deeply moved by the sight of the battlefield.

Years had gone by without war, but once it erupted, it was such a bitter and fierce battle.

The less powerful fighter jets bravely pushed forward to draw fire, opening up opportunities for the A-grade squadrons to unleash more firepower and clear out the monsters.

But this ca at a terrible cost as they exploded continuously in the sky.

The casualties among the monster group were also severe; each volley from the A-grade firepower eviscerated anything other than the powerful A-grade monsters, with massive bodies tumbling down through the sky.

However, there were far more monsters than fighter jets.

And while the monsters kept pouring in, the Southwest Military District had still received no reinforcents.

"Advance!"

The central A-grade spearhead formation not only didn’t retreat, they were actually pushing forward, with chas charging into the fray, unleashing a barrage of fire, and so even slicing through the monsters’ bodies at close range.

A giant A-grade monster charged with its fangs bared and bit into a cha, from which a gut-wrenching sound of breaking could be heard.

"Boom!" The cha fired inside the beast’s maw, blowing up its body, but at the sa mont, another monster’s sharp claw pierced through the now energy-depleted cha, impaling it and the ch Master inside perished amidst the ruins.

"Fire."

It seed that no one was concerned with the fall of a powerful fighter as the spearhead troops fired once more. Nurous A level beams of Energy Light detonated in the forefront, laying low countless monsters in an instant.

Yet, the Monster Leader remained amidst the horde, unleashing terrible energy, driving the swarm of monsters into a frenzy as they charged forward.

Xu Mo fixed his gaze on that direction; a top-tier Monster Leader was actually avoiding joining the battle.

"Bang, bang..." As the fight continued, fighter jets were successively destroyed by monsters, but they were past the point of retreat and continued to push forward.

Commander Qiu also arrived at the battlefield, clad in Armor, donning a helt, and hovering in the air.

A-grade Armor, an interdiary between cha and Battle Armor, possessed energy propulsion and was equipped with powerful weapons. However, it required manual control, an upgraded version of Battle Armor, but unlike skin-tight suits, it belonged to the category of chanical Armor, integrating so characteristics of cha.

Nanming Huowu had also worn this type of Armor before.

"Commander." Many saluted Commander Qiu as he approached.

"Constrict the battle line, relinquish so areas, and surround and annihilate the Monster Leader," Commander Qiu commanded.

"Yes, Commander." Soone took the command and left.

Commander Qiu continued forward, entering deeper into the battleground.

Monsters that rushed in his direction were dealt with swiftly by those around him.

In the distance, a powerful A-grade monster charged towards them. Commander Qiu saw plenty of fire converging on it, and then a Black cha appeared, slicing through the monster’s neck under the cover of gunfire.

Commander Qiu turned his attention to the Black cha.

Xu Mo, with a Source Power Level of B-minus, was already able to control such a high-level cha. If he reached A-grade, he might beco another Old War God or even surpass it.

But now, it was unlikely he could sustain a high-intensity battle.

Commander Qiu made his way in the direction of Xu Mo.

Xu Mo was looking to continue forward.

"Xu Mo," Commander Qiu called out.

"Commander," Xu Mo turned to see the helted figure of Commander Qiu, coming to his side, "Commander, you should stay further back."

"If the monsters reach here, it’s all over," Commander Qiu said, then pointed in a certain direction, "Do you see that unit over there?"

"Yes."

Xu Mo nodded. That spearhead unit had penetrated deep into the monster’s territory, taking down many formidable beasts, including so A-grade giants.

However, the cost had been the sacrifice of many lives.

"The ones who trained you in special combat are all in there," Commander Qiu said. "Over the years, there has been no crisis in the city, and the governnt has limited military funding. I had no other channels, so the spending had to be frugal."

"Without money, there’s insufficient equipnt, and even not enough soldiers. I accepted students from the Extraordinary Academy because they’re talented and willing to join the military, which is rare. As you know, under these circumstances, the top talents are reluctant to join the military; it’s not very promising," continued Commander Qiu.

Xu Mo, of course, understood this.

"If we lose this fight, they are soldiers; they will stand firm to the death, but you are not one of them, you must leave," Commander Qiu continued. "If anyone questions the Southwest Army, I don’t care, but you must vindicate them."

Only then did Xu Mo realize Commander Qiu’s intention for calling him over.

He was actually considering defeat, contemplating the matters after their possible deaths.

If the Southwest Military District were to fall, it would indeed be possible to face criticisms for failing to defend the city.

Commander Qiu didn’t want his soldiers to receive such treatnt, hence his instructions to Xu Mo.

"Commander Qiu, the battle is not yet decided, it’s too early to talk about these matters," Xu Mo said.
