Military District, training ground.
Intense collision sounds echoed continuously; a cha battle was raging.
A black cha with fists moving at a terrifying speed, several chas lay on the ground.
No weapons were used; it was hand-to-hand combat.
A mont later, those fallen chas stood up, and the chanical Masters erged from inside, looking towards the black cha and said, "Impressive, if you don’t use weapons in battle, it might take ten chas to subdue you. However, the enemy won’t face you head-on like this."
"Understood," Xu Mo responded from within his cha.
"The Military District has its own independent engineering departnt; modding weapons is very common. The Southern Military District has never lacked funds, so their modification thods are certainly more extensive. Next, I’ll show you so techniques for dealing with chas," Instructor Han spoke and then led a group to step back.
Two chas stepped out in front of Xu Mo.
"They are tailored for close combat chas," Instructor Han said, "You may use the Energy Battle Blade."
Xu Mo nodded. Extending his arm, the Energy Battle Blade materialized, emitting a cold glow.
"Begin."
As Instructor Han’s words fell, Xu Mo’s cha charged straight towards the opposite side; the two chas also rushed towards Xu Mo.
Xu Mo had not seen the enemy’s weapons.
At that mont, arms from both opponents extended simultaneously, and instantly, multiple pitch-black Energy Chains burst towards Xu Mo’s cha.
Inside the cha’s arms, a chanical device allowed the chains to be directed, wrapping around the large body of Xu Mo’s cha in an instant, binding his arms and torso.
The two chas slid in opposite directions.
"Boom..." A loud noise rang out as the energy of all three chas surged to their limits.
However, as the chas were of the sa level, Xu Mo’s cha held no power advantage and was locked in the middle; his manipulations at this mont were aningless.
Xu Mo frowned from within his cha. Was this a technique specifically targeting chanical Masters?
The two chas retracted their chains and shut down their energy. Instructor Han approached and continued, "This is one of the techniques for chas to counter other chas. If you have the terrain advantage, even a B-ranked warrior can use chains to trip up the legs of a high-speed cha, causing it to fall. You may have strong individual combat power when you control a cha, but the enemy won’t give you the chance to defeat them one by one."
"Next, I will familiarize you with so of our thods for dealing with chas. However, these are not the only strategies. The Southern Military District might have its own particular thods. Their cha modifications could be stronger than ours. If you’re going to join the battle, you’ll need to be careful on your own."
In the past joint exercises of the Military Districts, the Southern Military District often showcased so advanced weapons they did not possess.
"Understood," Xu Mo nodded.
"Go to the ruins for real combat exercises. In the following ti, you’ll undergo comprehensive closed training. Is there anything else you need to do?" Instructor Han asked Xu Mo.
"Nothing," Xu Mo shook his head.
"Alright, let’s set out," Instructor Han turned and walked away, and imdiately Xu Mo, piloting his cha, moved forward, following the team.
The group set out magnificently, embarking on a twenty-day intensive training specifically catered for Xu Mo.
At the sa ti, the teams from the Eight Extraordinary Colleges were also reorganized, pulled to the ruins for real combat special training.
There wasn’t much ti left for them; twenty days were already very short.
The people from the Southern Military District were trained day in and day out throughout the years; their level of coordination and teamwork far surpassed what the students from the Eight Extraordinary Colleges could compare with.
They were a temporary team; how far they could go was entirely up to them.
...
The twenty days passed quickly.
At the Military District’s training ground, Manu had arrived early. He looked towards the distance and saw a convoy of military vehicles approaching and quickly arriving.
The figures descended from the military vehicles, one of whom was particularly young, and it was Xu Mo.
At this point, Xu Mo’s skin had darkened quite a bit, but it added a bit more masculine charm.
Manu waved towards him, and Xu Mo approached, calling out, "Senior brother."
"Looking good," Manu sized up Xu Mo with a smile, "Now, that’s a man of the Military District."
Xu Mo smiled and turned back as his comrades approached one after another.
"Ti to head back," one of them said.
"Yeah, ti to head back," Xu Mo nodded, stepped forward, and they fist-bumped vigorously.
"Co visit the Military District when you have the ti," the other person said.
"Definitely," Xu Mo nodded. In the twenty days of training, he had trained with these soldiers, hunted monsters together in the ruins, cooked and eaten together, and shared tall tales.
They had beco brothers in arms.
The others stepped forward and fist-bumped Xu Mo in turn.
When they first received the assignnt, they were disgruntled.
What kind of soldiers were they?
To have them train a student?
Many had objections.
But after twenty days, no one objected anymore; it wasn’t just them training Xu Mo, but Xu Mo also training them.
This student outshone any of them.
He was more like a king among soldiers.
When hunting monsters in the ruins, nobody was fiercer than him.
He alone could slay as many as ten n could.
Such a man was a pity not to be one of them.
"I’m off."
Xu Mo reluctantly looked at everyone.
"Go ahead," everyone nodded with a carefree look, but they too felt a bit reluctant to part.
Xu Mo turned and left with Manu. He glanced at Instructor Han, who was smoking on the side—the first ti he had seen Instructor Han smoke.
"Instructor Han," Xu Mo called out and saluted to Instructor Han.
Instructor Han stubbed out his cigarette, pulled himself up straight, heels together, and returned the salute.
"Thank you," Xu Mo said and then saluted the others as well before leaving.
All at once, everyone saluted militarily and then lowered their hands.
"Little bastards," soone cursed under their breath.
Xu Mo smiled, turning around with a flourish.
"Xu Mo, during the last military district confrontation with the Southern Military District, they crippled many of our n. That bunch of scoundrels are ruthless. Be careful, and give it to them hard," soone shouted at Xu Mo.
"Definitely," Xu Mo responded loudly, boarding the military vehicle with Manu.
The vehicle started and left the area; the soldiers watched the departing vehicle with a tinge of reluctance in their eyes.
"Instructor Han, why didn’t the commander forcibly keep him here? With a guy like Xu Mo, he is sure to beco a king of soldiers in the future," soone said, turning to Instructor Han.
Instructor Han looked into the distance.
A king of soldiers?
"Dean Tantai and the commander didn’t send him here to be your sparring partner just to cultivate a king of soldiers," Instructor Han stated.
"Huh?" The soldier was taken aback and asked, "Then what are they cultivating him for?"
Instructor Han glanced at him and said, "Figure it out yourself."
With that, he walked away.
On the moving military vehicle.
Manu occasionally glanced at Xu Mo sitting beside him.
"Senior brother, what are you looking at?" Xu Mo asked, on alert. His senior brother couldn’t possibly have so unsavory habits, could he?
"Nothing in particular," Manu chuckled. He could certainly discern the soldiers’ attitude towards Xu Mo.
It wasn’t easy.
He had thought that the old dean had sent Xu Mo to the military district to toughen him up, but it seed he was mistaken.
"Junior brother, do you know what kind of soldiers those were?" Manu inquired.
Xu Mo shook his head. He only knew that at first, those guys had been very cold, but as they beca familiar with each other, they boasted more impressively one after another.
"They are the aces of the Southwest Military District, the most likely to be promoted. In the future, they will beco the core strength of the Southwest Army," Manu explained.
Xu Mo was stunned for a mont.
The old dean had said that Commander Qiu didn’t take sides, only advantages.
But from what Manu suggested, Commander Qiu did have preferences.
Having Xu Mo train and make contact with an elite unit concealed a profound implication, which Xu Mo understood all too well.
In another military vehicle.
Xiao Qi and Sun Xiaoxiao were together, sitting side by side.
"So tired," Sun Xiaoxiao complained, "Wah, I’ve even gotten a suntan."
Weren’t they just here to join the fun?
How did they end up being pulled into training too?
"I’m very tired too," Xiao Qi said languidly, unintentionally leaning onto Sun Xiaoxiao’s shoulder. Exhausted, Sun Xiaoxiao did not resist, and the two leaned on each other.
"Training is really tough," Xiao Qi muttered.
"What training?" Ye Qingdie asked from across them.
"Hm?" Sun Xiaoxiao was montarily puzzled.
Right.
Hadn’t he been assigned to the engineering departnt?
Sun Xiaoxiao’s anger flared, and slowly turning her head, Xiao Qi imdiately sat up straight, looking at Ye Qingdie and saying, "Sister Butterfly, one cannot be so deceptive."
Work in engineering, maintaining machinery, was also tiring.
"Filthy rogue." A shriek followed, and Sun Xiaoxiao began to punch and kick at Xiao Qi.
The vehicles returned to their previous accommodations, where the group began to disembark one by one.
All of the Eight Extraordinary Colleges had arrived.
Sun Xiaoxiao walked ahead, followed by Xiao Qi, who received an angry glare from her.
She had fallen for his trick.
Ahead, Manu and Xu Mo had also arrived, and the two of them hopped out of the vehicle.
"Brother Xu Mo!" Sun Xiaoxiao, seeing Xu Mo, hopped over energetically, sohow finding renewed strength.
"Xiao Xiao," Xu Mo turned around to see Xiao Xiao approaching with her group.
"Brother Xu Mo, you got a tan too," Sun Xiaoxiao observed, sizing up Xu Mo and said, "But still so handso."
"Of course, Brother Mo’s looks and charm are on par with mine," Xiao Qi declared.
"Don’t insult Brother Xu Mo," Sun Xiaoxiao retorted disdainfully.
Ye Qingdie also stepped forward, smiling as she looked at a now slightly darker Xu Mo, who appeared even more masculine.
Handso!
Naturally, the people from the Eight Great Colleges also noticed Xu Mo not training with them, uncertain where he had been taken.
"Instructor, Instructor..."
Voices intermingled as several soldiers approached, scanning the crowd.
"The training is over. From now on, it is dismissed; everyone is to return to their colleges," an instructor announced, and everyone nodded.
"Instructor, can we win?" soone asked.
"You are destined to lose," the instructor declared, and suddenly the air around seed to fall silent.
"The Eight Great Colleges fight on their own, lacking a sense of teamwork and urgency. When you go back to your colleges, tell your deans it’s best to cancel," the instructor spoke indifferently. The students from the Eight Extraordinary Colleges, all proud and elite, showed unsatisfied expressions.
"I remind you, if you must fight, take care of yourselves. It’s a battlefield, not a playground," the instructor said unsparingly, discouraging the group before adding, "Dismissed."
With those words, he left, behind him a noisy crowd.
Even the instructor thought they were bound to lose?
