Chapter 173: Chapter 69: Blessing in Disguise, Compensation for Xu Mo

The rage of the two academies still burned fiercely, casting tornt onto many in Steel Do City where the struggle was intense.

Beyond continuing the investigation of the assassination’s true culprit, the two academies initiated attacks on the corporations.

Employing thods akin to the opponent, they first launched a war of public opinion.

While the dia controlled by the Academy Faction was not as powerful as the opposition’s, it still had a voice that could be heard.

Both academy powers started by addressing the daily lives of the lower-level gene-modified people and the discrimination they face in the city today, vehently denouncing the existence of the Genetic Evolution Liquid.

Do humans need this inferior Genetic Evolution Liquid? Injecting other species’ genes into humans, causing mutations and leading to ostracism by their own kind?

...

Moreover, where is this Genetic Evolution Liquid produced?

Has gene experintation ever halted?

In Steel Do City, how much has Protheus Group’s subsidiary infiltrated?

Investigations revealed that in the corruption cases involving the Ming Group, the company’s shadow lurked, attempting to use Ming to swallow Lin and expand its territories.

This caused quite a stir, and the public’s perception of such corporate giants grew increasingly negative.

They also slled sothing unusual.

This seed like a confrontation between the academies and the corporations.

Neither side engaged directly, starting instead with public opinion warfare.

After all, in this era, it was nearly impossible for such top-tier forces to wage direct war without mutual destruction.

The giants’ struggle, waging war in peace for benefits, yet maintaining peace in the midst of struggle.

As for the mastermind behind the assassination, they remained undiscovered.

Not only did Nanming Academy make a move, but Noah Academy did as well.

Yet, there were still no clues.

The opponent seed to be very secretive.

Or perhaps, they had overlooked sothing and failed to ascertain the true purpose behind the attempted assassination of Xu Mo.

This assassination case seed likely to beco a cold case.

Noah Academy, chanical Building.

Xu Mo had now fully recovered and had arrived at the chanical Building.

Today, the chanical Building’s combat arena attracted many people, not just freshn, but many upperclassn as well.

Noah Academy’s S-level genius, Xu Mo coming to the chanical Departnt to exchange pointers—how could they miss it?

At that mont, in the arena, a black cha, holding a War Saber and attacking furiously like a storm, aggressively dominated the opposing white cha.

Many students from the chanical Departnt watched intently.

Especially the freshn.

With technological advancents, third-generation chas were easy to control and simple to learn on, but the gap between novices and masters was vast.

Executing precise maneuvers with a cha required extrely accurate computational abilities, and managing micro-manipulations during combat demanded swift neural reaction speeds.

Consequently, the skill gap among different cha pilots was enormous.

chas were expensive to build, thus, only the most skilled chanical Masters were needed to operate them, making the chanical Departnt particularly strict in selecting students.

“Xu Mo is really strong,” a female student comnted. “Being able to control a cha as fluently as one’s own body, there are few in our chanical Departnt who can match that.”

Beside her, eating snacks, Sun Xiaoxiao glanced at the speaking girl, a fellow student from the sa year.

Xu Xin, a second-year student in the chanical Departnt, with an A in the chanical Talent Assessnt.

Additionally, with her sweet appearance and good figure, she was imnsely popular in the chanical Departnt, and had many admirers.

However, she didn’t quite get along with Sun Xiaoxiao.

Sun Xiaoxiao was straightforward and a bit naive. She thought Xu Xin was rather scheming.

“Brother Xu Mo, keep it up!” Sun Xiaoxiao suddenly shouted out loud, causing everyone around to look at her in astonishnt.

Xu Xin also glanced at Sun Xiaoxiao.

But Sun Xiaoxiao didn’t care and continued eating her snacks.

“Bang.”

Above the battlefield, Xu Mo completely overwheld his opponent, knocking the white cha down and sliding across the field.

Xu Mo stopped his movent, and the white cha got up. A senior male student erged from it and spoke to Xu Mo, “Junior Brother Xu Mo’s control over the cha has already transcended the level of a student. Such talent is undeniable.”

So people were seemingly born to be chanical Masters.

Xu Mo was undoubtedly one of those people.

In the face of absolute talent, hard work paled.

“Senior Brother also did quite well,” Xu Mo responded from within his cha.

“Junior Brother Xu Mo, don’t encourage anymore; the gap is too large,” the male student said with a wry smile, shaking his head as he had no chance in the battle.

Moreover, he felt Xu Mo still had more to spare.

Being powerless against a freshman like this was indeed a blow.

But thinking of Xu Mo’s fa made it slightly more bearable, considering he was the principal’s closest disciple and the heir to the chanical King.

Xu Mo exited the cha.

At that mont, Xu Xin approached, offering a beverage with a smile, “Junior Brother Xu Mo, you must be tired.”

“Thanks,” Xu Mo nodded in thanks and was just about to take it.

“Brother Xu Mo,” a sweet voice called out, making Xu Mo’s skin crawl as he saw Sun Xiaoxiao coming forward with a sweet smile.

Was she causing trouble again?

Xiao Qi really needed to deal with Xiao Xiao.

He was not up to the task.

“Brother Xu Mo, you must be thirsty, drink mine,” Sun Xiaoxiao offered her beverage forward.

“…”

Xu Mo paused, looking at Xu Xin.

Xu Xin withdrew her hand, knowing well that Xu Mo and Sun Xiaoxiao had a good relationship.

“Xu Mo, junior, I also want to see where my cha skills are lacking. Could you give so advice?” Xu Xin asked with a smile.

“Sure,” Xu Mo replied, taking the drink from Sun Xiaoxiao and nodding.

Since his senior sister had given him a task, he had to complete it properly.

“Thank you, junior.” Xu Xin turned to pilot the cha, while Sun Xiaoxiao whispered by Xu Mo’s side, “Brother Xu Mo, can you beat her up badly for ? She bullied before.”

“Er…” Xu Mo nodded.

“Thank you, Brother Xu Mo.” Sun Xiaoxiao walked away, and Xu Mo got back onto the cha, indebted as he was to Sun Xiaoxiao.

This classmate had to be the sacrificial lamb.

“Xu Mo, junior, please don’t hold back,” Xu Xin said as she piloted a red cha and stepped forward.

“Alright,” Xu Mo responded, and the next mont, the cha dashed forward, jets of powerful energy bursting forth at a terrifying speed.

Xu Xin’s cha opened fire, but Xu Mo’s speed was incredibly fast, he maneuvered past the firepower and quickly closed in, his right hand raising the War Saber of his cha.

“Bang…”

She wasn’t prepared when the hit ca, her arm deford from the movent.

“Bang, bang, bang!”

Xu Mo’s War Saber struck repeatedly, sending Xu Xin’s cha flying to the ground, and then crashing to the side.

Inside the cha, Xu Xin lay bewildered.

Not holding back even a little.

No trace of rcy for a lady???

Xu Xin began to doubt her own attractiveness.

Xu Mo descended from his cha and approached Xu Xin’s, saying, “Sorry.”

Xu Xin operated her cha to stand, and she also stepped out, smiling, “No worries. Junior Xu Mo’s control level is astounding. It seems I need to work harder. Can I ask you for more guidance in the future?”

“Er…”

She didn’t mind being beaten up so badly?

Xu Mo began to understand why Sun Xiaoxiao didn’t like her.

Quite the drama!

“Teacher Leng Qiu has more experience and is better suited for teaching. But of course, if I co to the chanical Building, that wouldn’t be a problem.” Xu Mo replied and then walked past Xu Xin, glancing at Leng Qiu, who was watching the battle, with a wry smile.

He had been drafted into this.

“Senior sister, are we good now?” Xu Mo whispered.

“Let’s spare you,” Leng Qiu nodded.

Xu Mo breathed a sigh of relief, finally free to go.

“Xu Mo,” another voice called out just then.

It was Reynolds.

“Hmm?” Xu Mo looked towards Reynolds, what did this silly boy want now?

“Xu Mo, you haven’t yet evaluated my cha control level. Could I have a match with you?” Reynolds asked. Xu Mo had been watching the others’ cha battles for a while when he arrived, and Reynolds was among them.

“Reynolds, you need to practice diligently now. In the future, you will surely surpass ,” Xu Mo replied.

Reynolds was startled, fists clenched, then said, “Understood.”

With that, he turned and left.

His current goal was to surpass Xu Mo in cha combat, and it seed Xu Mo acknowledged him and even believed that Reynolds’ cha would one day surpass his own.

Reynolds seed to have forgotten his original purpose for approaching Xu Mo…

Xu Mo finally made his escape.

Leng Qiu accompanied him as they walked through the chanical Building, arriving at the top floor of the chanical Building.

After passing through facial recognition, Leng Qiu entered a large hall.

The lights turned on.

The hall was filled with chanical aesthetics, with chas enclosed within energy shields adorning the surrounding walls.

The chas here were incredibly sleek, their designs emanated a violent beauty, vastly superior to the chas used by students in the chanical Departnt downstairs.

“Where is this?” Xu Mo asked.

“This is the core area of the chanical Building, the strongest batch of chas at Noah Academy. The outer walls are all A-rated in defense, and I’m the only one in the chanical Departnt who has access here,” Leng Qiu explained. “Each cha in these energy shields is A-rated. Among them, there are the latest fourth-generation models with dual control systems, and each is marked differently. The weapon systems also vary, many of which can switch weapons. You can choose any cha.”

“Choose?” Xu Mo was sowhat shaken.

“Yes, choose,” Leng Qiu nodded. “The teacher specially approved it after discussions with the academy, as a special reward for S-class students and the dean’s disciples.”

Xu Mo took a deep breath, realizing it was just an excuse.

Basically, they just wanted to gift him a cha.

Because of this assassination incident, he had turned misfortune into a blessing.

How powerful was an A-rated cha?

It wasn’t sothing you could just buy with money anymore.

“Due to this assassination incident, Nanming Academy will provide compensation, covering most of the expenses,” Leng Qiu added.

“Er…”

Xu Mo blinked.

He thought about making a trip to Nanming Academy, hoping the assassination attempts would co more intensely!

If so, he wouldn’t hold back!

Xu Mo’s eyes brightened as he walked towards a cha inside an energy shield, where a brief introduction of several chas was available.

“Which one is the strongest?” Xu Mo asked Leng Qiu. “The most expensive kind.”

Leng Qiu rolled her eyes and looked at Xu Mo.

She seed to have misunderstood this junior brother a bit!
