Darkness clung to Argider like a second skin.

She found herself standing in a void, the atmosphere suffocating.

Around her, shadows flew around, whispering incomprehensible things, their voices a chorus of malice and despair.

Her feet felt heavy as if chains bound her, yet when she looked down, she saw only pale skin stretched too tightly over bone.

Before her, light flickered, illuminating a path that seed endless.

With nowhere else to go, she took a hesitant step forward.

The ground beneath her feet shifted, morphing into cobblestone slick with crimson.

She realized it wasn't cobblestone, it was a mosaic of faces. Faces she knew.

The bullies from her childhood stared up at her with unblinking, glassy eyes, their lips stretched into mocking grins.

Her brother Rhaegor's face was there too, twisted with rage, his mouth moving silently as if choking on unsaid words.

The light ahead grew brighter, but it wasn't warm.

It was cold, clinical, and cruel.

As she stepped closer, the void took shape, transforming into the grand halls of the Imperial Palace. But everything was wrong.

The marble floors were cracked, the opulent tapestries frayed and soaked in dark, sticky blood.

She heard laughter. High, cruel, and biting.

"Argider!" called a voice, sickly sweet and mocking.

She turned to see a figure perched on the throne. It was herself or a version of herself.

Her double sat, her white hair a ss, her eyes burning like molten gold.

She wore the Emperor's robes, but they were tattered and stained with dirt and blood.

Won clung to her legs like vines, their faces veiled, their forms eerily still.

They grinned. "So, you've co to see what you'll beco?"

"No," Argider said, her voice trembling but firm.

The other her stood, her movents unnaturally smooth, like a predator stalking its prey. "You say that now. But I know you. I am you."

The throne room shattered like glass, leaving Argider standing in a village square.

But it wasn't just any village. It was her old ho, back in Olzar.

The air slled of smoke and ash, and she saw the whorehouse where her mother had worked.

It was engulfed in flas, the screams of won and children echoing like a symphony of despair.

"Run!" loris's voice rang out, distant and desperate.

She turned and saw her mother running toward her, her body battered and broken. Her face, bloodied and bruised, was a mask of pain.

She reached for her, but before Argider could move, her body burst into black ash.

"No!" Argider scread, falling to her knees.

Around her, the townspeople appeared, their faces twisted with hatred.

"Your mother was a whore," they chanted. "And you're her daughter."

Their voices grew louder, a deafening roar, until the crowd began to rge, their bodies twisting together into a grotesque, writhing mass.

The thing lood over her, its many mouths gnashing teeth, its eyes gleaming with malice.

Argider tried to move, but her feet were rooted to the ground.

"Worthless," the monster hissed, its voice a cacophony of voices. Her mother's, her brother's, her own, and many more. "You think you can escape what you are?"

Argider gasped and sat bolt upright, her chest heaving as though she'd surfaced from drowning.

The sunlight poured through the ornate windows, striking her face with an intensity that felt almost punitive.

Her eyes narrowed, her hands instinctively rising to shield them.

But the brightness was relentless, piercing through the cracks between her fingers and forcing her to turn away.

Suddenly, she scrambled to the edge of the bed, her limbs trembling. Her stomach twisted violently, and she retched, her body convulsing as she expelled the bitter remnants of last night's dinner.

Her body felt foreign, unrecognizable.

The sweat clinging to her skin was icy, as if her nightmares had left a tangible residue of their tornt.

She wiped her mouth with a trembling hand, her gaze unfocused and distant.

Experience more tales on empire

Shadows lingered at the edges of her mind - cold, accusing phantoms of guilt and regret.

Lately, nightmares had beco her unwelco companions.

Suffocating dreams that left her shivering and drenched in sweat. They weren't rely phantoms of the mind; they were manifestations of her guilt, her failures, her inner tornt.

Her enemy had ceased to be external.

"Argider," a voice, soft yet firm, broke through her spiraling thoughts.

She turned her head slowly, her breath still shallow.

It was Esralda.

For the first ti, Argider was willing to be in the sa bed as her, probably due to guilt.

Esralda had welcod her without question, though her sharp eyes had not missed the changes in Argider.

They now seed diminished - her fra thinner, her cheekbones more pronounced, her eyes shadowed with sleeplessness.

She placed a cool hand on Argider's back, rubbing gentle circles.

"Could it be…" Esralda hesitated. "Argider, are you… pregnant?"

Her wide eyes darted toward Esralda, then slowly down to her stomach.

Was it possible?

Her hands, pale and delicate, drifted to her abdon.

A subtle swell she hadn't noticed before seed to press against her palm.

Her thoughts raced, recalling the signs her body had been showing but she had ignored amidst her turmoil.

Her appetite had changed - either insatiable or nonexistent. Her moods swung wildly, leaving her volatile and unpredictable.

Nausea had beco her constant companion, and even now, her stomach felt odd as if confirming Esralda's words. Her chest felt tender, her breath shallow.

These subtle shifts in her body had whispered truths she hadn't been ready to hear.

"I…" she faltered, her voice barely audible. "No..."

It was bound to happen eventually. Argider had been, well... enthusiastic lately. Taking one wife after another, night after night, until the impossible wasn't so impossible anymore. She was pregnant.

The real kicker? She had no idea who the father was.

"Am I... actually a whore?" she mumbled to herself one morning, clutching a pillow like it held the answers to the universe.

The whole ordeal terrified her. She'd heard the horror stories - childbirth was the kind of pain that could make even the mightiest warrior beg for rcy.

And, frankly, she wasn't sure she was cut out for the whole mom thing. What did she know about raising kids?

Sure, she could fight battles and charm a kingdom, but diapers? Sleepless nights? Screaming babies? That was an entirely different kind of war.

And, of course, her schedule was already bursting at the seams. There were fourteen more wives to marry, children to care for, power to consolidate, and, oh right, her endless quest towards redemption and strength.

"Honestly, could the universe have given a break?" she muttered.

Esralda, standing nearby, crossed her arms with an amused scoff. "To think you're the one pregnant between the two of us. That's hilarious."

Argider groaned dramatically before leaning into Esralda's shoulder. The taller woman stiffened. "What do you think you're doing?" she asked.

"Getting... comfort?" Argider replied weakly, nuzzling in like a cat trying to be affectionate.

Esralda narrowed her eyes, but there was a faint blush creeping across her cheeks. "Comfort? After all the chaos you've caused? After the legion of won you've claid? You think I'll just forgive you?"

"No," Argider admitted, her voice small. "I just... don't know what else to do right now."

Esralda tilted her chin up imperiously, looking down at the now-pleading Argider. "You'll have to pay, you know. You can't keep running from the ss you've made."

"I know," Argider whispered, closing her eyes as if bracing for a storm.

Esralda sighed, her initial coldness softening. For all her faults, Argider did look pitiable at that mont - tired, vulnerable, and undeniably human. She hesitated for a heartbeat before cupping Argider's cheek and tilting her head up.

"You're such a fool," Esralda murmured, her voice gentler now.

And then, without warning, Esralda leaned in and kissed her.

It was a kiss that spoke volus - of frustration, of reluctant forgiveness, of emotions neither of them could quite put into words. Argider's r arms instinctively wrapping around Esralda's waist as if she might float away otherwise.

"You're lucky I'm feeling generous. But don't think this ans you're off the hook."

"Noted. I'll get to paying that debt... eventually."

Esralda rolled her eyes. "You're impossible, you know that?"

"Yeah, but you still kissed ."

"Don't push your luck."

Esralda's lips claid Argider's, her tongue delving deep to dance with the Emperor's own.

They twined and tasted, the kiss growing more heated by the second.

Just as Argider was losing herself in the sensual embrace, Esralda pulled back, leaving her breathless and wanting.

Argider gasped, feeling Esralda's deft fingers kneading her sensitive breasts, thumbs teasing the stiff peaks until they ached with need.

"?!" At the sa ti, she could feel the hard, hot lengths of their cock grinding against the soft globes of her ass, the sensation sending bolts of lust straight to her dripping core. This woman is insane... she's so hard right now...

The knowledge that she carried a child only seed to infla her wife's lust, their arousal never wavering even as her belly swelled.
