Nan Zhan still stood without moving, his face full of interest as he looked down at the soft body that had suddenly appeared in his arms, his teasing smile growing even wider, "I actually think that Miss Jian seems to be hoping that I’ll continue to stay."

Pah!

Jian Si pushed him away hurriedly with a flushed face, not caring about his mockery, quickly picking up the clothes from the floor and throwing them back into the clean water basin. After washing them, she glared at him annoyedly, "Excuse ."

Not wanting to really provoke her, Nan Zhan moved slightly to the side. The gap was very small, and the slender Jian Si could just pass through, but it was still unavoidable that her shoulder lightly brushed against his chest.

Jian Si couldn’t help but mutter to herself, what was the point of being so tall, what kind of feed did he grow up on.

Jian Si stood on the balcony hanging clothes, just as he had said, the room she lived in never saw sunlight all year round. Coupled with the damp climate of Aus City, the blankets and clothes often developed mold spots, no matter how diligently she washed them, she couldn’t change the facts created by the natural climate. Like this piece of clothing, it was obviously sumr, and for others, a few hours of sun exposure would be enough to dry their clothes, but hers felt sowhat damp even at night.

Jian Si carefully smoothed out the wrinkles on the clothing. The child’s clothes were small and didn’t take up much space when hung up, so she took out two more undried items to hang as well.

Nan Zhan stood on the balcony watching her, she was like an ordinary woman doing the most ordinary things. Her silhouette was so slender that it seed like she could be blown away by the wind, yet it was this fragile woman who had alone raised a child who was nearly seven.

He glanced around the simply furnished room and Zhengzheng’s bedroom with the toys that had obviously been repaired many tis, his eyes narrowed involuntarily.

"How much is the rent for this place?" Nan Zhan suddenly asked, startling Jian Si, who was used to being alone and not accustod to having an extra person in the house.

"Miss Jian, exactly how many guilty deeds have you carried out? There isn’t a body hidden in here, is there?" He said while tapping on the wall purposefully as if there was sothing hidden inside. "Could it be hidden here?"

"Are you crazy?" Jian Si glared at him fiercely, his occupational disease was indeed severe, and not mild.

Nan Zhan was just joking, but after tapping his knuckles against the wall a few tis, he suddenly turned serious and leaned in close to the wall.

"Mr. Nan, can you cut it out? Do you really think there is a body hidden in my wall? If I were to hide anything, I’d hide it in the ceiling..." Jian Si unceremoniously mocked him.

"Do you have a hamr?" Nan Zhan suddenly asked.

Jian Si was truly annoyed and felt like punching him: "Have you caused enough trouble? Are you really going to smash my wall? I just repaired that wall half a year ago, how could there be a body in it? You really are crazy."

"Hamr." Nan Zhan repeated, his narrow eyes narrowing slightly, replacing the depth of his gaze with a cold edge.

Jian Si closed her mouth because if Nan Zhan’s expression had been mocking before, the only thing visible on his handso face now was severity. His lips were pressed into a straight line, his brows deeply furrowed; he didn’t look like he was joking in the slightest.

Jian Si had no choice but to find a hamr and hand it over to him. Seeing that he was really about to smash the wall, she imdiately shouted, "I just had that wall fixed. If you damage it, you’ll have to pay for it."

He didn’t respond, and just brought the hamr down.

As it turned out, there was indeed an empty space inside the wall, with only a thin layer of material.

With Nan Zhan relentlessly swinging the hamr, large chunks of the wall started to fall off, and then sothing fell out from the middle with a thud and landed on the floor.

In all her life, Jian Si would never forget that scene; even now, it still haunts her in nightmares.

Because what fell out from the wall was a large plastic bag, and as the bag broke upon hitting the ground, an intolerable, pungent odor emanated from it, followed by a puddle-like substance on the ground spreading the stench.

"Do you have gloves?" Nan Zhan’s complexion darkened.

Jian Si’s legs were a bit stiff, her walking wobbly from fear, and even though she hadn’t seen what was inside the plastic bag, she’d already prepared for the worst.

Nan Zhan put on the gloves and crouched down, skillfully opening the sealed bag. As the bag was unfolded, a human head was revealed, followed imdiately by long black hair spilling out.

"Aah!" Jian Si scread in terror, covering her eyes forcefully.

Though she only caught a brief glimpse, the horrific image still lingered before her eyes, seemingly well-preserved with eyes open in death as if refusing to close in eternal terror.

"Call the police." Nan Zhan ordered sternly, and turned to look at her, "Miss Jian,"

Jian Si knew that if it weren’t for Nan Zhan today, she wouldn’t have been able to walk out of the police station, her current identity as a criminal suspect.

"I’ve told you all I know." Jian Si sat in Nan Zhan’s car, parked downstairs, but she didn’t want to return to that house now. Thinking that for the past six months, she had lived day and night with a body lying inside the wall, she felt like she was going insane.

"Haven’t thrown up everything yet?" Nan Zhan’s gaze held so disdain.

Jian Si closed the car door, her face pale. The re thought of the scene she had seen made her feel so nauseated that she wished she could vomit everything out from her stomach.

"I didn’t kill anyone." Jian Si had been repeating this sentence over and over again at the police station.

"Yeah, I know," Nan Zhan handed her a bottle of mineral water.

"You believe ?" Jian Si looked up at him excitedly.

"Nonsense, otherwise would I protect a murderer?"

Jian Si took the water he passed her and sincerely said, "Thank you."

"You are still a suspect, but on bail pending trial. Whether you can clear your na depends on yourself."

"So what should I do?" Jian Si was utterly distressed, and he was her lifeline.
