"Immigration?" Chenxi jumped up from the sofa as soon as she heard it, "I don’t want to immigrate; I won’t go."

If she went, it would an she could never see Professor Luo again, which was undoubtedly a bolt from the blue for her. She could live without comfort, but she absolutely couldn’t be without Professor Luo. He was her attachnt, sothing she couldn’t part with.

"Isn’t immigration good?" Mu Kaihua patted his daughter’s hand, "Over there, the quality of life will be several levels higher than it is now, and I won’t have to work overti every day. By that ti, my salary alone could support both you and your mother, you would attend university locally, and your mom wouldn’t have to work and could be a good wife and mother at ho."

"No, I won’t immigrate, anyway," Chenxi said adamantly. "I was born in Aus City, and I’ll be a ghost of Aus City when I die. I don’t like that place; it’s full of unfamiliar faces, and I don’t speak the language there."

"I’m so old and not worried about the language, why are you afraid of it at your young age?" Mu Kaihua laughed, "I work this hard to give you and your mom a better life, and now that such a good opportunity has co up, I must seize it."

"Yes, dear daughter, your dad is right. We’re unattached here; once we go there, we can start anew. Your dad’s career will reach a new level, and our life will be more secure and prosperous. Isn’t that great? If you can’t bear to leave your friends, you can always co back for a visit during winter or sumr break." Luo ijuan also hurriedly tried to persuade her.

Chenxi still shook her head: "If you have the heart to leave here, then you two go. I don’t want to go; I really don’t."

After saying that, Chenxi dove into her own room and then slamd the door shut, indicating she didn’t want to discuss it further.

Luo ijuan and Mu Kaihua looked at each other.

Luo ijuan said: "The child is acting a bit strange. She never used to be so opposed to going abroad, and now, just by ntioning it, she seems to have made up her mind not to go."

"Has she got a boyfriend?" At this point, Mu Kaihua felt that he had paid too little attention to his daughter, always busy with work, wanting to provide her with a stable life but neglecting her emotional needs.

"How old is she? Even if she has a boyfriend now, it’s just a passing interest. Is she really planning on getting married in the future? These students live such a sheltered life at school, they don’t understand the complexity of society; as the saying goes, ’the environnt shapes the person.’ Right now they might think they’ve found soone decent, but one touch from society’s dye vat and who knows how they’ll turn out. This is one reason I don’t really want her to get a boyfriend in university." Luo ijuan sighed, "And look, now we have a problem. If she really does have a boyfriend, once they graduate, everyone will go their separate ways with different aspirations, won’t it just end in a split?"

Mu Kaihua said: "You’re generalizing from one instance. Today’s university students have seen far more than we ever did back in our day. What haven’t they seen, what wouldn’t they dare to do? If they were going to go bad, they would have already. Moreover, the affection during the student days doesn’t involve personal interests, no scheming, it’s the purest. If there really is soone good for my daughter, I would wholeheartedly approve."

Chenxi had no idea what they were talking about outside; lying on the bed, tossing and turning, she felt a wave of sadness at the thought of traveling to a foreign land.

Susu once asked her if she would go abroad. She replied decisively, saying that she would not go anywhere for Professor Luo,

Ti flies, and it was soon ti for Chenxi to return to school. Fortunately, Luo ijuan and Mu Kaihua didn’t bring up immigration again before she went back to school. Luo ijuan made a lot of cured ats and snacks and packed a large bag for Chenxi to take with her.

The girls in the dorm devoured the snacks Chenxi had brought from ho and then headed to the library together.

On the way, they bumped into Qi Hao, who was also heading to the library with two other guys. Jiang Xinyu called out from a distance: "Brother-in-law."

It took a while for Qi Hao to realize she was calling him, and he was a bit embarrassed. He said sothing to his two classmates, and they glanced over before moving on ahead.

Susu walked up to him, laughing, and naturally took his arm, "You’re going to the library today, too? How co you didn’t tell ?"

"I was actually planning to play basketball, but the court was taken over at the last minute, so I thought I’d go read instead," said Qi Hao, wearing a pair of black-frad glasses, tall and lean, a gentle but handso figure in their departnt. It was also Susu who had pursued him initially.

"Susu, you go with Qi Hao, we three will go ahead," Xinyu waved at them, "See you later, brother-in-law."

Qi Hao smiled politely, but once they were gone, his smile quickly faded and, sowhat displeased, he said, "Susu, in the future, don’t let them call brother-in-law; it doesn’t look good in school."

"What’s wrong with that? We agreed we would plan for the wedding right after graduation, it’s only a matter of ti before you beco their brother-in-law. Getting used to calling you that beforehand ans no need to pay them to switch later," Susu said.

"We’ve just enrolled in a language course. We’ll think about marriage after we go abroad, don’t be too anxious," he replied.

Susu hugged his arm in a pleasing manner, "You’re so outstanding; I’m afraid so other woman might steal you away."

Qi Hao patted her face, "That won’t happen."

"You’ve said it yourself, in any case, I don’t want to go abroad, and my family disagrees too. I applied for the class and planned to study abroad all because of you, you can’t just abandon ."

"Don’t worry," Qi Hao comforted her by patting her hand, "By the way, did Chenxi succeed with her PCR experint?"

"Yes, she’s quite remarkable, we’re all proud of her."

"Has she written her paper yet?"

"Not yet, but she’s preparing for it. Since the experint was successful, writing the paper won’t be too difficult. If she has a teacher’s guidance, progress would be even faster."

Qi Hao nodded, "If she doesn’t mind, let have a look when she’s finished. I’m also interested in researching PCR."

Susu was clearly hesitant; although she trusted Qi Hao, Chenxi had worked hard on her paper, and she probably wouldn’t want to share it with soone else.

"I will ask Chenxi. If she doesn’t want to, I can’t help it."

"Didn’t you say she’s a nice person? I’m just looking for a bit of experience, not seizing her hard work. What are you afraid of?" Qi Hao was getting angry, "Or is it that you don’t trust my character?"

"No, that’s not what I an." Susu hurriedly explained, "I haven’t asked Chenxi yet. I need to get her consent first, after all, it’s not mine to share."

"Then just ask her. You’ve been good sisters for so many years, she wouldn’t refuse to help with this small favor, right?"

Despite feeling uncomfortable, Susu still tentatively asked Chenxi in the library: "Chenxi, after you finish your paper, Qi Hao wants to read it. He’s been studying PCR recently and wants it for reference."

Chenxi hadn’t even spoken when Quan Jin furrowed his brows, "Susu, why do you agree to everything Qi Hao asks? The experint was Chenxi’s hard work; you can’t just let anyone see it."

Susu quickly explained, "Qi Hao just wants to have a look, he won’t have any other thoughts, I trust his character."

"Really? Are you sure about his character?" Quan Jin was unsparing, "Are you certain you know him that well?"

Upon hearing this, Susu imdiately beca unhappy, her face darkening as she said, "I’ve known him for two years; do I know him any less than you do? You seem to have a big problem with Qi Hao, always disliking him. What has he done to offend you?"

Seeing that the two were about to argue, Chenxi quickly extended her hand in between to separate them, "Alright, alright, both of you, say less. It’s just a paper; there’s no need to damage the harmony among us sisters."

"Quan Jin, I know why you look down on Qi Hao." Susu hadn’t heeded the advice, insisting on having the last word, "You just despise him because his family is poor and he cos from a rural area, right? But what does that matter? So many n from rural areas have made a na for themselves in the city. As long as he’s motivated and eager to learn, is one’s background really that important?"

"When did I ever despise his background, and what does his background have to do with ? I just feel sorry for you, you get it? Feel sorry that as soon as you fall in love, you completely lose your own opinions, revolving around Qi Hao for everything, even finding his farts fragrant. Are you so sure, Qi Hao is truly sincere with you?" Quan Jin’s words ca out in a flood, so fast that even Chenxi didn’t catch everything she said. Chenxi just hugged Quan Jin trying to calm her, "That’s enough, little Quan, say less. We can discuss anything, no need for fights."

"I have nothing to discuss with her." Susu, flushed with anger, grabbed her bag from the table and stord out.

Chenxi beca anxious and tugged at Quan Jin’s sleeve, "Please go and coax her; she’s always been weak to Qi Hao’s words, and you know that, right?"

"I don’t want to. She’s a fool. She thinks Qi Hao is so sort of catch, foolishly smitten with him, even living together; I just worry one day she’ll cry without finding a tune." Quan Jin huffed and slamd a book down on the table in a huff.

Chenxi, perceptive, caught sothing in her words and asked in a lowered voice, "Little Quan, do you know sothing?"
