Bai Chengxi originally didn’t care what others said, but the three words Zhuo Yuqing successfully captured his attention, and it seed he also heard his own na.
He slightly turned his head to listen to the conversation of those two people.
Perhaps afraid of being overheard, their voices gradually lowered:
"But she gives off such a sunny and kind vibe, she couldn’t be that kind of person, right?"
When Bai Chengxi heard this sentence, he suddenly stood up from his chair, a layer of frost covering his handso face.
As he rose, the chair behind him slid backward and bumped into the partition with a loud noise, startling the two people talking. They instinctively looked over, and one of them was Tong Bi.
Having mingled in the entertainnt industry for so long, Tong Bi naturally recognized the renowned empire builder of the entertainnt world, the famous president of Star Movent, Bai Chengxi. So, seeing him here, Tong Bi was genuinely startled, especially since he was heading directly towards Zhuo Yuqing’s desk.
She shifted her eyes in a bit of panic, unsure of how much of her conversation he had overheard.
Bai Chengxi was already striding over to Tong Bi. His deep black eyes were unfathomably dark as if harbouring a fierce storm, bringing an invisible pressure when staring at soone, making it impossible to et his gaze.
Tong Bi’s mouth twitched twice, forcing a smile, "President Bai, what a coincidence. What brings you here?"
Her colleague, upon hearing this and taking a closer look at Bai Chengxi, imdiately knew who he was. She covered her mouth in surprise and breathed a sigh of relief that she hadn’t spoken carelessly, or else she would have been in trouble.
Bai Chengxi’s gaze swept over Tong Bi’s face as if looking at a cheap item, the corners of his eyes rising with a mocking curve. Finally, his gaze landed on the work pass hanging from her clothes and after glancing at the na, Bai Chengxi left without a word, passing by Tong Bi and creating a chilling breeze that left her sowhat disheveled.
Tong Bi inwardly lanted, it seems she had unwittingly offended soone she shouldn’t have. Judging by the look in Bai Chengxi’s eyes just now, he seed to have heard everything.
"Is that Bai Chengxi?" Her colleague wasn’t afraid at all since she hadn’t said anything, instead, she watched Bai Chengxi’s departing figure with an excited expression, "He’s actually so handso in person, totally outshining their company’s first and second-tier stars."
"And you can still laugh?" Tong Bi glared at her.
Her colleague spread her hands nonchalantly, "You were the one talking, I didn’t say anything. Besides, when he was leaving, he only glanced at your work pass, he didn’t even look in my direction."
Only then did Tong Bi rember the work pass on her, and she irritably tore it off, stomping her foot in frustration.
Bai Chengxi arrived at the entrance of the interview room, where the light was on and several staff mbers were finishing up their post-production work.
"This Su Yingluo sure is a diva, making us wait for three hours, and taking another hour for makeup. Look what ti it is now; my wife is waiting for to co ho for dinner." The caraman complained discontentedly, "I’ve been in this business for so many years, and it’s the first ti I’ve t soone like her. Seems like the rumors on the outside are all fake, pah, calling her a goddess with her attitude."
Zhuo Yuqing was engrossed in writing her article, listening to everyone’s discussion but never speaking. She was typing words while contemplating the photos Su Yingluo wanted to show her.
Not seeing them didn’t an she wasn’t curious, and she found it strange, why did Su Yingluo want to show her the photos alone?
Could it be that she knew she had taken a surreptitious photo of her at the hospital? Was this lateness and diva behavior a deliberate act of revenge against her?
If so, why would she actively give her the opportunity to stand out in an interview? It just didn’t make sense.
Zhuo Yuqing shook her head, trying to shake off the ssy thoughts in her brain, and focused on writing her article.
At this mont, a colleague elbowed her and whispered, "There’s a handso guy."
"What?" Yuqing instinctively looked up, "What handso guy?"
Her colleague nudged her lips towards the doorway, "He’s been sitting there, I’ve been watching him for a long ti, he’s so handso I can’t take my eyes off him."
Following where her colleague pointed, Yuqing saw Bai Chengxi sitting on a chair to one side, looking at his phone. The overhead light cast on his chiseled features, leaving a small shadow beneath his nose, making him look like a masterpiece carved by a great artist.
He was dressed in slim-fit trousers and a khaki coat lay next to him on his right side, leaving only a white shirt on his body, clean and casual, highlighting his tall fra.
Yuqing was stunned for a mont, a hint of happiness glowing on her face. When did he co over here? She was so busy she almost forgot he was waiting for her outside.
With a faint smile hanging upon her lips, Yuqing returned to her work.
Because of his silent presence, her enthusiasm for work soared. Her delicate fingers tapped on the keyboard as her thoughts gushed forth like a fountain.
"How is the manuscript coming along?" The editor-in-chief, who was getting ready to leave, happened to pass by the interview room. Knowing that there was an interview with Su Yingluo today, which was a big deal for the magazine, he stopped by to ask.
As soon as the editor-in-chief entered the room, he noticed soone sitting there. Although the person was quiet, without making a sound, his powerful aura made it impossible to ignore his presence.
"Mr. Bai?" The editor-in-chief was taken aback. He had not expected to see Bai Chengxi here and imdiately walked over with a smile, extending his hand, "Mr. Bai, what a pleasure to et you."
Bai Chengxi put down his phone, "President Yu, the pleasure is mine."
"Mr. Bai, when do you have ti to visit our small magazine? Is there so breaking news from Star Motion?"
This call out to Mr. Bai drew everyone’s attention. No one expected that the man who had been silently watching his phone was none other than the President of Star Motion, the famous entertainnt tycoon Bai Chengxi.
"There’s no news," Bai Chengxi nodded to President Yu, "and with subordinates as competent as yours, no news could escape your attention."
"Oh, you flatter ." President Yu failed to detect the irony in his words and waved his hand with glee, "Mr. Bai, what brings you here then...?"
"To pick up my wife from work," Bai Chengxi said, smiling at Zhuo Yuqing, who was giggling foolishly at him.
Upon hearing his words, Zhuo Yuqing’s silly giggle froze on her face, her large eyes blinked twice, seemingly still not processing the situation.
What did he just say? To pick up his wife?
President Yu was also stunned. In his mory, he did not recall Bai Chengxi being married. Not only was he not married, but it was rumored he didn’t even have a girlfriend. He was considered one of the few morally upright n in the circle.
"Mr. Bai is married?" The professional sensitivity of President Yu woke up all the cells in his body.
"Yes." Bai Chengxi did not avoid the question and his gaze stayed on Zhuo Yuqing, who looked just as foolish, staring blankly at him.
"Mr. Bai’s wife is with our magazine?"
"Mm," Bai Chengxi nodded, then suddenly spoke tenderly, "Wife, aren’t you coming over?"
There were five or six people sitting with Zhuo Yuqing, and since Bai Chengxi was addressing this side, it ant that his wife was among these people.
Everyone exchanged confused glances, unsure what to make of it. They were colleagues who worked together every day, each appearing very ordinary. Could there be such a dazzling figure among them?
In the midst of everyone’s bewildernt, Zhuo Yuqing stood up sowhat embarrassingly from her seat. Bai Chengxi was calling for her; how could she not give him the recognition?
Although she felt shy in front of everyone, she obediently walked over to his side. Her face flushed with embarrassnt, she glanced at him, and her eyes were full of reproach. He hadn’t prepared her ntally for this, leaving her both nervous and excited, her heart nearly leaping out of her chest.
Bai Chengxi reached out to wrap an arm around her shoulder and lowered his head with an extrely tender expression, "How much longer? I’m hungry."
"Yuqing is Mr. Bai’s wife?" Several colleagues rubbed their eyes instinctively, as if they were seeing things. Zhuo Yuqing had always been low-key, and although she had recently beco the subject of several headlines, she had been kind-hearted and conflict-free in the company.
"Appearances can be deceiving," soone sighed, "I really hadn’t noticed. She’s incredibly understated."
President Yu was shocked,
"That..." President Yu hurried to curry favor, "Yuqing, let soone else take over your work. Don’t keep Mr. Bai waiting too long. Mr. Bai, I am so sorry. Today’s situation is a bit special, which is why Yuqing had to stay and work overti, delaying your ti. Please, be forgiving."
"That’s alright," Bai Chengxi glanced coolly at President Yu, "but I’ve heard so quite distasteful rumors about my wife in your publication. I wonder how President Yu manages his staff, allowing such baseless comnts to be spread?"
"How could that be?" President Yu was alard, "That’s outrageous. Who would dare spread rumors? As for anyone who instigates trouble, I will deal with them severely, Mr. Bai. Where did you hear these rumors?"
Returning to her office, Tong Bi kept feeling a twitch in her left eyelid, making it impossible for her to settle down to work. With no choice, she picked up her bag to leave. Passing by the interview room, she noticed a crowd gathered there as if sothing had happened.
She had only leaned in when she heard the conversation between Bai Chengxi and President Yu.
