Mu Shuoqian smoked, his eyes cold and terrifying through the haze of smoke.
In these four years, he had only seen Yufei three tis. The first ti was when he locked her in the dungeon, throwing her a sentence that those who wanted to kill his wife and child would end up like this; the second ti, Yufei was self-harming crazily, banging her head against the bars until he had soone modify the bars so that it would hurt but definitely not kill, and it was also then that Yufei told him she had a secret related to his and Gu Qili’s future, and her freedom was the price for that secret; the third ti was now, Yufei trying to force him to appear by attempting suicide, still intending to trade the secret for her freedom.
The things Yufei did back then were exceptionally discrete, neither he nor Qiu Lan had any inkling, and Mu Shuoqian’s suspicions were without substantive evidence, with many conclusions drawn from his own guesses.
He was now almost certain that it was Yufei who had told Gu Qili the truth about the Gu Family’s bankruptcy, and she might have learned it from Qiu Lan, or perhaps she had tampered with Qiu Lan sohow, maybe by installing a listening device.
Since she could overhear his conversation with Qiu Lan, she could also hear other secrets of Qiu Lan’s that were related to Gu Qili or the Gu Family.
Over the years, he had tried many ways to extract this secret from Yufei, but she kept her lips tightly sealed. Having known her for so many years, he had never truly understood her nor had he wished to, but it was this disdain that planted a ticking ti bomb by his side.
Yufei was ruthless enough towards others and even more so towards herself; if she did not fear death, what else would she fear?
Before eting Gu Qili, although he was interested in Yufei’s secret, he wasn’t overly urgent, sotis even dreaming of reconciling with her.

After reviewing the hospital surveillance footage obtained by Luo Shangqing, Mu Shuoqian had guessed that these series of incidents were related to Yufei. At that ti, Luo Shangqing had warned him not to engage in illegal activities, but he could never just ignore the woman who wanted to kill his wife and children.
Mu Shuoqian looked at Yufei calmly and said, "You should worry about yourself first."
Seeing him striding away furiously, Yufei stomped her feet in agitation: "Mu Shuoqian, Mu Shuoqian, you will regret this, let go, let out!"
After the door of the dark room closed, Mu Shuoqian walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and lit a cigarette, then picked up the phone to call Qiu Lan.
The phone rang several tis before it was picked up, Qiu Lan’s voice sounding tired, "What’s up, Shuoqian, is there news about Feifei?"
"Do you really understand Yufei?" His answer was not to the point, making Qiu Lan slow to respond.
"Shuoqian, what do you an?"
"I advise you to thoroughly check everything Yufei has given you," he said, then hung up the phone.
The clock pointed to eight, an hour had passed since Mu Shuoqian made that call, he sat leisurely on the sofa smoking until the phone rang urgently.
Glancing at the caller, he slightly curled his lips upwards.
"Shuoqian, how did you find out?" Qiu Lan stared at the tiny listening device in her hands, this purse had been a birthday gift from Yufei several years ago, she had many purses and almost changed them daily, usually, the ones she used were given away by Yufei, but after her sudden disappearance four years ago, those unused purses were left untouched in the storage.
"Didn’t expect it, did you? Your most beloved daughter planted a listening device on you."
