After work, Gu Qili walked out of the hotel with her bag on her back, under a sky filled with stars and a moon, experiencing the quietest scene of the day.

The car parked under the streetlight had its license plate reflecting a faint blue light, MG5277 stood out as a string of characters, perhaps many wouldn’t understand why such a good car had such an odd license plate, but to Gu Qili, it was more resounding and etched in her heart than any declaration of love.

)

As soon as she got into the car, she slled the scent of food; she said she wanted cha shao bao, and he really bought a box and kept it warm in a thermos.

"Mm." Gu Qili opened her mouth and lightly bit his shoulder, "Did you go see as soon as you ca back?"

"Good performance." Those four simple words made Gu Qili feel overwhelmingly flattered; it was truly rare to hear words of praise from his mouth.

"You already knew that Reynolds was the special assistant this ti, right?" Gu Qili sat up straight, her clear gaze looking into his dark eyes.

"But I didn’t know that the Reynolds on the docunts was the sa Reynolds I was eting."

He picked up the thermos from the side, skillfully unscrewed the lid, and the aroma of the cha shao bao instantly filled the entire car.

"Networks." He uttered these two words lightly, "No matter what you do, you can’t do without networks."

Gu Qili looked at him earnestly: "What about you? You always act so cold, how co I never see you building your networks?"

He picked up a bun, casually squeezed it in his hands, the soft skin elastic: "I am already other people’s network."

At his level, he indeed didn’t need to curry favor with anyone anymore, others were the ones trying to ingratiate themselves with him.

"Eat the bun." He brought the bun in his hand to her mouth, "It’s just the right temperature."

Gu Qili smiled and bit into it, eating from his hand.

The sweet fragrance of the cha shao bao coated her heart like syrup. This man, who was earnestly feeding her the bun with such a calm tone, seed to be speaking of things that did not concern him, yet she knew that everything he did was for her.

When around, he clearly knew she was with Reynolds but did not forcefully stop her, because even for a petty jealousy like seeing her with a dog, he knew that for her dream, Reynolds would be a reliable network.

And that network ca into use today.

So things, if he didn’t teach her, she would probably never learn in her lifeti.

Be it networks, confidence, or courage, what he gave her was priceless.

"By the way, Li Ruhai’s computer was stolen, did you know?" Gu Qili suddenly rembered the serious matter and bit into the bun with particular solemnity.

"Mm, I’ve already demoted him, awaiting punishnt." The way he took it in stride made Gu Qili think that he must have known all along, could it be that Li Ruhai admitted his mistake as soon as he found the problem?

"I suspect this matter has sothing to do with Mu Hewen." Gu Qili then shared with him what she encountered with Mu Hewen at the conference today.

Mu Shuoqian drove the car, suddenly turned his head to look at her, biting into the bun and speaking earnestly - she looked very serious, but her action of eating the bun was especially cute.

He reached out his long arm and ruffled her hair: "Not bad, becoming more and more vigilant."

"I have to be." Following an old fox and not learning to be shrewd—she wouldn’t just end up eaten to the bone, but also turn into a belly-massaging after-al comfort in soone else’s stomach.

"You have to be wary of them. I’m afraid they won’t give up their larcenous hearts and will cause trouble for Reynolds and his group again. They represent our image." Thinking of this, Gu Qili couldn’t help feeling a coldness inside; if they really offended the general manager and his party, all her efforts today would have been in vain.

He just patted her hand and did not speak, continuing to focus on driving ahead.

He had searched around and not found her, thinking she had gone out, when he heard a faint noise. After carefully discerning for a while, he realized the sound was coming from underground.

And below his house was a wine cellar.

Mu Shuoqian slowly descended into the wine cellar via the spiral staircase. Under the dim light, Gu Qili was sitting on a barrel, holding a flashlight in her mouth, intently examining the label of a wine bottle. Once she saw it clearly, she quickly scribbled notes in a notebook,

So engrossed was Gu Qili that she didn’t notice Mu Shuoqian approaching from behind until he suddenly spoke: "The price of wine from this vintage will appreciate."

Startled, she nearly spat out the flashlight. Turning around, she glared at him, took the flashlight out of her mouth, and, holding it under her chin, made a terrifying ghost face at him: "You could scare soone to death like that."

"You had the night shift yesterday. Don’t you need to catch up on your sleep?"

Gu Qili returned to her task of recording the wine labels and said without a second thought, "I enrolled in a CAFA somlier coaching class, and it starts today. I wanted to do so prep work so I wouldn’t fall behind everyone else. And your wine cellar is the perfect place to practice."

She still rembered the first ti she ca to this cellar to fetch wine for him. Not only did she not recognize the nas of the wines, but she also gave him a bottle that required more than three hours to breathe. Back then, she quietly resolved to one day morize the na of every wine here.

Mu Shuoqian sat on another barrel, casually swiped her notebook, and commanded firmly, "You can look at these later. Eat first, then catch up on so sleep."

Gu Qili knew he was showing concern for her, so she obediently turned off the flashlight: "Okay, got it."

She ate and obediently went to sleep. She wasn’t sure how long she slept before being woken by the ringing of her phone.

"Qiqi, Qiqi, you’re in the newspaper, did you know?" Mickey’s voice was excited on the other end of the line, even her breathing seed rushed.

Gu Qili was still groggy, her eyes half-open: "What newspaper? Our school’s bulletin board?"

"It’s the Aus City Morning Post," Mickey rustled the newspaper she was holding. The news about Gu Qili was in the business section, a part she usually ignored, but her dad liked to read it. And it was her dad who spotted the photo, "Qiqi, you represented us and made a statent yesterday, huh? Are those reporters relatives of yours or sothing? They took such a flattering picture of you and they’re praising you, too."

Mickey rolled her eyes: "You made such a scene yesterday, why didn’t you tell ? I would’ve brought flowers to cheer for you on the spot."

"Forget it, I had to improvise on the spot, and I nearly ssed it up yesterday." Gu Qili put her phone on speaker, started to wash up while continuing the conversation with Mickey.

"Alright, alright, I have to go to class now, can’t talk anymore." Gu Qili grabbed her bag and rushed out, thankful for Mickey’s call which saved her from being late. When she passed a newsstand at the bus stop, she casually bought a newspaper.

The next day, Gu Qili was on the day shift. As soon as she entered the changing room, Zhu Ping called her over excitedly: "Qili, co here."

Several colleagues had gathered in the changing room, all vying to look at a newspaper.

Gu Qili felt a bit embarrassed; it was her first ti being featured in a newspaper, and she had been lavished with such exaggerated praise which she knew was not as hyperbolic as the newspaper depicted.

"Qili, we never knew you were so incredible. My goodness, you made a presentation for over an hour without looking at any notes, and you even made the assistant laugh. You’ve really brought honor to our French Restaurant."

"Yes, yes, just now I bumped into people from other restaurants, they were so curious about you, asking ’Is there soone nad Gu Qili at your French Restaurant?’ I patted my belly and told them proudly, ’Yes, she’s my colleague.’"

Listening to everyone’s complints, Gu Qili grinned: "It’s really not that exaggerated, newspapers are just full of bull."

"Whether it’s bull or not, we don’t know, but for a little service worker from a French restaurant to represent us at such a grand occasion, haven’t you all thought that there might be sothing fishy?" Along with this discordant note, Luan Yi walked in, opened her locker, and put her bag inside, "How could she go?"

"Luan Yi, what evidence do you have to say such things without proof?" Zhu Ping glared at her, "Have you been writing too much fiction and started to fantasize?"

"Heh." Luan Yi pointed at Zhu Ping, and then pointed at each of the others one by one, "You, you, you, and you—let’s not pretend to be friendly here. Ask yourselves, are you not already going insane with jealousy deep down?"

"You think we are all like you, with such filthy thoughts, only capable of jealousy?"

"Heh heh," Luan Yi continued to mock disdainfully: "Haven’t you all wondered in your hearts by what ans did she climb to the top? It must have been by using her body."
